The butch and muscular Scorpio is a brand unto itself, and Mahindra has been capitalizing on this for years. The strong Scorpio brand means a good resale value. The 7 seat SUV is offered mainly with a diesel engine, and the last major makeover came in 2014. If you’re in West Bengal and want a Scorpio that’s less than 4 years of age, and with under 50,000 Kms on the odometer, you’re in the right place.
You might think your demands are too specific, but even with your specific needs you will be bombarded with innumerable options on leading car websites. Moreover, they will have listings of cars that have not been neatly sorted, and hence are not in a position to give you meaningful insights. How do you arrive at choosing the right car then? Used car websites are usually of little use, even with their multiple filters. The onus of sorting the information remains on you, and who wants to undergo such a hassle? Fortunately, we have got just what you need through the Cartoq TRUE PRICE.
By deploying the Cartoq TRUE PRICE, we help you identify the best deals. The Cartoq Data Science team has built a Machine Learning model that estimates the TRUE PRICE of a used car, after accounting for all sorts of variables – brand, model, age, mileage, and car type. With all factors accounted for, the model predicts the TRUE PRICE, which then becomes the basis of comparison across cars. The best deals are those where listed price is lower than the TRUE PRICE. So, we scan through the car listings across major used car sites, compute their TRUE PRICE, and present the best deals for you.
The shortlist for this article was based on the analysis we ran on September 19th, 2019; so, by the time you read this article, there is a good chance that the specific car may no longer be available. However, this list still provides plenty of useful pointers even if certain specific cars have already been sold out. Without further ado, let’s check out our top recommendations.
Recommendation #1
2016 Mahindra Scorpio at Rs. 8.25 lakhs
A Delhi court banned SUVs with diesel engines over 2 liters a few years ago. Mahindra replaced the Scorpio’s 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine with a 2 liter unit but managed to retain power and torque outputs of 120 Bhp-280 Nm. Here’s one such example of the Scorpio with the 2 liter diesel engine on sale in Kolkata. Priced at Rs. 8.25 lakhs, it’s a great buy considering that you’re getting a sparingly used example that’s less than 4 years old, and with just 47,454 Kms on the odometer.
Recommendation #2
2016 Mahindra Scorpio at Rs. 10.5 lakhs
The S10 trim of the Mahindra Scorpio is the one that’s fully loaded. Twin airbags, ABS, alloy wheels and a slew of features are on offer only on the S10 trim. This particular example is powered by the 2.2 liter mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 120 Bhp-280 Nm. A six speed manual gearbox and a rear wheel drive layout are offered on this SUV. First registered in 2016, this SUV has run 43,242 Kms.
Recommendation #3
2016 Mahindra Scorpio at Rs. 9.1 lakhs
The Scorpio is one of the few SUVs sold in India that can be specified as a 9 seater. Here is one such example that’s from 2016. It’s the S4 Plus trim, which means that it gets ABS and twin airbags as standard. It makes for a powerful, abuse tolerant and relatively safe SUV that can take on almost everything that Indian roads can throw at it. The engine is the tried and tested 2.2 liter mHawk unit, and this SUV has done 48,000 Kms.
Recommendation #4
2017 Mahindra Scorpio at Rs. 10.95 lakhs
If you want a Scorpio that’s almost new, and that can last you a decade or more, this example may be the right fit. An S4 trim from 2017, this Mahindra Scorpio has just done 5,000 Kms. It’s powered by the 2 liter turbo diesel engine, which is downsized version of the 2.2 liter unit. Butch cladding and after market alloy wheels make this example look meaner.
Recommendation #5
2016 Mahindra Scorpio at Rs. 6 lakhs
This Scorpio is the S10 trim and has done only 29,000 Kms but is selling at a really surprising price tag of Rs. 6 lakh. This makes it terrific value but you have to take some precautions while approaching the buyer though as the deal looks too good to be true.
