Hyundai’s latest offering in the compact SUV segment is the Venue SUV. within months of its launch it has become one of the favourite compact SUV of many in the country. Reason behind its popularity is features and comfort that it offers in its segment. Venue is so popular that it even outsold Maruti Suzuki Vitara in August this year. XTomi design and SRK Designs have now come up with renders of the Hyundai Venue convertible, giving us an idea how it would look in the convertible avatar.
First thing that you notice in both the rendered images is that it is now a two door car. The car designed by XTomi has a different bumper and fog lamp housing at the front and the alloy wheels on the venue convertible by SRK designs are different. Apart from this no visible changes are there on the Venue Convertible.
This is purely a work of imagination from XTomi and SRK designs, Chances of Hyundai manufacturing a convertible version of the Venue are very bleak. the main reason behind it is the price. Convertible vehicles cost a lot of money, which is why there are no such vehicles available for mass segment car buyers.
Coming back to Venue, Hyundai had launched it in May this year with a starting price of Rs 6.5 lakh and going all the way till 10.8 lakh ex-showroom. It is the first connect compact SUV in the segment. Venue gets Hyundai’s BlueLink smart connectivity which has a total of 33 features in it, out of which 10 are Indian specific. The car gets e-SIM too for the connected features. Just like any other Hyundai, Venue is also feature loaded.
Hyundai has offered a total of 3 engine options for the Venue. The petrol engines on offer are 1.2 litre 4 cylinder, naturally aspirated unit which produces 82 Bhp and 115 Nm of torque and a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 118 Bhp and 172 Nm of torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder, turbocharged unit that puts out a decent 89 Bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque.
The 1.4-litre petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel gets a 6-speed manual unit. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, however, gets a choice between either a 7-speed DCT unit or the 6-speed manual unit. Normally manufacturers opt for AMT gearboxes in this segment to keep the costs down. The Hyundai Venue competes with likes of Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
