Hyundai’s first sub-4 meter SUV, the Venue has turned out to be a big hit in India. The small SUV unsettled the whole segment right after its launch and claimed the top sales spot in a few months time. Hyundai even sold more units of the Venue than the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which had been leading the segment for a few years now. However, the huge demand for the Venue has resulted in high waiting periods for the sub-4 meter SUV. According to a report by ACI, the waiting period for the Venue has now gone up to 15 weeks, depending on the engine-gearbox combination and trim level in question.
The highest waiting period is on the models with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The mid-spec S trim level (S 1.0 DCT), in particular, has the longest waiting period going up to 15 weeks in several cities. The manual version of the same variant has a waiting period of up to eight weeks. Moreover, the diesel in this trim has the longest waiting period of up to six weeks which suggests that the S trim is among the most popular ones in the Venue’s lineup. Coming to the other variants, the higher, mid-spec SX and fully-loaded SX(O) trim levels have a waiting period of only about two weeks. The SX(+) trim level, on the other hand, has a waiting period of three weeks. The base 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine-equipped Venue E has a waiting period of six weeks.
Therefore, if you plan to buy the Hyundai Venue in the coming time, be ready to wait for a substantial period before you get your hands on the vehicle. Talking about the Venue, the front-wheel-drive sub-4 meter SUV gets a host of first in class features along with refreshing exterior design. It comes with Hyundai’s BlueLink smart connectivity which has a total of 33 features under its umbrella, out of which 10 are Indian specific. Other features on the car include a twin zone automatic climate control unit, wireless charging, automatic headlamps, smart key, push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, air purifier, cooled glovebox, electric sunroof and a touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
As for the engine options, there are a total of 3 engine options for the Venue, two of which are petrol while one is diesel. The petrol engines on the Venue are a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder, VTVT, naturally aspirated petrol unit while the other is a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged unit. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder, turbocharged unit that puts out a decent 89 Bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque. Speaking of gearbox options, the 1.4-litre petrol motor will get a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel will get a 6-speed manual unit. The 1.0-litre unit, however, gets a choice between either a 7-speed DCT unit or the 6-speed manual unit.
