Honda Activa 6G SPIED testing in India

The 6th generation version of the best-selling HondaActiva automatic scooter has been spied testing at ARAI, Pune,  ahead of its launch early next year. Upcoming vehicles are routinely spotted at ARAI, which stands for Automotive  Research Association of India, a government organization based in Pune that homologates and approves vehicles for use on Indian roads. The Honda Activa 6G is meant to take this automatic scooter into the stringent Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms era.

The Honda ACtiva 6G is likely to feature a slew of cosmetic updates and new features. Key changes include telescopir front forks replacing the unit link suspension, new instrument cluster, a disc brake as standard on the front wheel,  new alloy wheels and a revised grab handle at the rear.

However, the biggest change  will be addition of fuel injection. The 110cc four stroke engine of the Activa will dump the carburetor for fuel  injection in the 6th generation model. This change is to help the Activa 6G comply with the BS6 emission nrms. The  addition of fuel injection will make the Activa costlier, and also result in a significant improvement in fuel  efficiency and better throttle response.

The higher fuel efficiency is expected to more than compensate for the higher price tag. It’s not just the Honda  Activa alone that will jump onto the fuel injection brigade. A range of other Honda 110cc, 125cc and 150cc two  wheelers that ae currently using carburetors will shift to fuel injection.

2020 Honda Activa 6g 5

Apart from Honda, other two wheeler makers  in India including Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motors, Royal Enfield, Bajaj Auto and others will also embrace fuel injection  in order to meet the BS6 emission norms. An increase in prices across the commuter two wheeler segment comprising of both scooters and motorcycles will happen early next year. The BS6 emission norms kick in from April 2020.

Meanwhile, if you are wondering what fuel injection is, and its various benefits, you must read the following.

What is fuel injection?

Fuel injection is a way of injecting fuel to the engine of a vehicle through an injector that is governed by a  computer chip called the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The injector – an electro-mechanical part that pumps the fuel is controlled by the injector. This electronic control of fuel metering to the engine makes sure that fuel  wastage is minimum due to the more precise control that electronic fuel injection offers.

This allows engine designers to reduce tail pipe emission as fuel consumption reduces. The various benefits of fuel  injection are 1. Lower maintenance 2. Better mileage. 3. Crisper throttle response 4. Better throttle control at part  throttle openings and 5. Lower emissions. However, care must be taken to not ride the two wheeler with very low fuel as it could damage the fuel pump. Also, fuel injected vehicles are less tolerant to adulterated fuel. Finally, the  additional complexity of fuel injection means that parts are costlier to replace.

Modifications and accessories for the Royal Enfield Interceptor have started pouring in now. Now there are various modified examples of the bike along with aftermarket accessories to make your stylish new Interceptor rock. There was a lack of customised aftermarket parts for both the 650 twins initially but that time is over now. The Interceptor 650 you see below has been given a scrambler treatment, although it’s a milder mod job so as to suit everyone’s taste. the bike has received some kit add-ons apart from other changes about we will discuss in more details below.

Interceptor Scrambler 2 Feature

This custom Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has been made by BIG BEAR Motorcycle Gear & Accessories. The first major change to be noticed are the knobby off road spec tires both on the front and the rear. Then there is an additional beak fender added on the bike.  A custom crash guard has been equipped on the bike to protect it from sustaining heavy damage in case of a fall. The stock headlamps have been replaced with an aftermarket unit.

Interceptor Off Road

Another major change here is the increased front fork travel. This has been done so that the bike can have a better ground clearance as well as perform better over bad patches of the surface. However, these mods and fitments wouldn’t probably look and function well on the Continental GT 650, because transforming it into a scrambler would take more work as it’s already a cafe racer inspired design bike.

Interceptor Scrambler

Moving on, the bike has been fitted with a new shorter saddle that gets more cushioning. The original paint of the bike has given way to custom shades of silver, cyan and black. Overall, the Scrambler makeover it (Interceptor 650) has been given looks nice without being too loud, as is the norm with regular scrambler themed modifications. With all these mods on it, the Scrambler here looks ready to take on the rough terrain without any hiccup. It is already quite a powerful bike and can easily take a heavy beating without much complaint.

Interceptor Scrambler

Speaking of which, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is powered by a 647 cc, twin cylinder, air-oil cooled engine that churns out a good 47 Bhp of power along with 52 Nm of torque. the engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch. It is the most powerful and advanced bike from the company yet and its double cradle chassis has been designed with inputs from Harris Performance, UK. The pricing for the Interceptor 650 starts at Rs. 2.50 lakhs and it’s the most powerful bike in this price range. Moreover, there is no direct rival of the 650 twins in the price range and they are in a league of their own.

Tata wants to build a sub-Tiago hatchback to take on the Maruti Alto: Nano replacement?

$

Tata Motors’ biggest comeback car in recent times has been the Tiago hatchback, which is now the biggest selling car in the automaker’s line up. Enthused by the success of the Tiago, Tata Motors is considering a sub-Tiago hatchback in order to take the fight to India’s best selling car – the Maruti Alto. Details about the sub-Tiago hatchback are sketchy for now but Guenter Butschek – the CEO of Tata Motors – has made some interesting remarks on what Tata Motors wants to build in future.

There is still some market volume (in the segment) below the Tiago and Tigor, where we don’t have a dominant play today – but where we would like to have a play. Where we in particular see great opportunities for us as far as electrification and the concept of urban mobility is concerned.

However, the entry level car could be an electric vehicle, a class of vehicles that Tata Motors is betting big on for the future. Electric mobility makes a lot of sense for entry-level, budget cars (like the Maruti Alto), which are mostly driven within cities. Notably, Tata Motors has stopped building the Nano – the cheapest car in the world, and one built mainly for city use. The new entry-level could nicely fill the gap created by the Nano, and be a big volume offering for the automaker.

The Alfa platform, on which the Altroz premium hatchback is based, is likely to underpin the new, sub-Tiago hatchback. At the recently concluded Geneva Motor Show, Guenter Butschek noted that going forward, the automaker would focus on two main platforms – Alfa (for smaller cars) and Omega (for SUVs and bigger utility vehicles). Both platforms have been designed keeping an electric future in mind. This should allow Tata Motors to launch an entry level, electric car as a Tata Nano replacement.

The car in question – if put into production – is likely to have a small footprint, and a tall boy form factor. This would make it spacious and apt for city roads. An automatic gearbox, a very small turning radius and curvy looks are other things that are likely to go into the new city car that Tata is planning. Tata Motors already showcased some very interesting city car concepts such as the Pixel and MegaPixel. Something on these lines is what we expect the Indian automaker to come up with for its city car project. A launch timeline has not been specified for now. Keep an eye on this space as we closely monitor this story.

Katrina Kaif’s latest ride is a super LUXURIOUS Range Rover Vogue SUV

Bollywood and its love for Range Rovers have been going on since long. The swanky British SUVs have ferried many B-Town stars till date and it is a daily car for most of them. Joining this list now is Bollywood Diva Katrina Kaif, who recently bought a white Range Rover SUV. The actress bought the Vogue SE Diesel LWB model, which is quite an expensive SUV. As for the exact pricing, the Range Rover Vogue SE Diesel LWB costs Rs. 2.33 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). She has gone for a white shade on her new SUV. Check out the pictures below and see how Katrina’s new daily drive SUV looks like.

Katrina Range Rover 2

Prior to this, Katrina used an Audi Q7 for travelling around Mumbai. The Q7 is the flagship SUV of the Audi lineup and is also one of the most common vehicles in Bollywood but more upon that later. Talking about the white finished Range Rover Vogue bought by Katrina, it is one of the best and luxurious SUVs in its price range. Interestingly, the actress got the same number for her new pick as was on the older Audi Q7, which suggests this number is special for her. The Instagram post below by Yogen Shah compares the number plates of her Q7 and the new Rangie.

Instagram Photo

Talking about the vehicle, as mentioned earlier, it is a Range Rover Vogue SE Diesel LWB model. The SUV gets powered by a huge 4.4 litre SDV8 diesel engine that churns out a good 335 Nm of power at 3,500 RPM and a gigantic 740 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The biggest USP of the Range Rover Vogue is its off-road prowess and ultra luxurious interiors it comes with, though we doubt if Katrina would ever need the off-road ability of the car much apart from dodging the Mumbai roads. Katrina’s Range Rover is the LWB variant, which translates into Long WheelBase variant. It is the stretched version of the regular SUV with even more space and comfort than the SWB (Short Wheel Base) variant.

Katrina Kaif Range Rover

A lot of other Bollywood stars also use the Range Rover as their daily drive. This includes some big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Alia Bhatt and Jacqueline Fernandez among others. The reasons why so many stars prefer the Range Rover are many. Range Rover offers a great brand value that evokes respect, which is a significant thing in B-Town. Also, it has a stately design language that does not scream for attention but rather grabs attention by its sober looks. The uber-luxurious interiors with all creature comforts and powerful engines are added benefits of the SUV. Also, Range Rover SUVs are quite well known for their reliability and if maintained well, rarely break down without warning.

Katrina Range Rover

Though Katrina’s Range Rover costs Rs. 2.33 crores in ex-showroom prices, the final price for it could be much higher. Apart from the taxes and other charges, there is a huge probability that Katrina might have gone for some customization options offered by the company, Land Rover. A nicely specced Range Rover Vogue could easily cross the Rs. 3 crore price mark. However, it could also be that she could have just picked the SUV without any customizations. The arrival of a new SUV at her house means that the old Audi Q7 will now rest in the garage. Katrina used the Q7 for quite a lot of years which is actually a pretty good strategy to follow before upgrading your ride. There is a possibility that her Q7 might soon land in the used car market. At last, a big congratulations to Katrina for her new ride, which is a rather good choice nonetheless.

Next-generation Nissan Sunny: What the Honda City & Maruti Ciaz rival will look like

$

0

Nissan India is working on the all-new version of Sunny in the Indian market. The mid-size sedan from the Japanese manufacturer takes on the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. However, the Nissan Sunny is not as popular as its rivals in the Indian market. Nissan will launch the all-new version of the Sunny that is expected to increase the popularity of the sedan in the Indian market in the coming years.

Nissan Sunny 1

Nissan has already started testing the next-generation Nissan Sunny in the international markets and ACI has created a speculative rendering, which shows how the upcoming sedan may look like. The upcoming Nissan Sunny is expected to draw inspirations from the Nissan Lannia concept sedan. The production version of the Lannia is already on sale in China but the Indian spec vehicle will look bit different to match the global design language of the brand. The Sunny is sold as Versa or Almera in the international markets.

The all-new version of the sedan is expected to arrive by 2020 or later in the Indian market. However, Nissan is yet to confirm anything officially. The all-new Sunny will be based on the V-Platform that underpins the European-spec Nissan Kicks and Note hatchback. It also underpins the all-new Micra, which has not been launched in the Indian market. The use of the new V-Platform will make the vehicles very expensive in India, which is why Nissan decided to launch the Kicks on the B-Zero platform in the Indian market. It is quite possible that the next-generation Sunny will go through the same strategy and it will be built on a different platform for the Indian market.

The styling of the Indian-spec Sunny is expected to be similar to the international models. On the inside, the all-new Nissan Sunny is expected to become modern and offer new-age features including touchscreen infotainment system and safety features like airbags and ABS as standard. The all-new Sunny is expected to be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol engine.

Nissan will globally launch the Sunny in a few months and will be on sale in many international markets. However, the launch in India may take some time due to the India-spec changes in the vehicle. Nissan currently offers Micra, Sunny, Terrano and Kicks in the Indian market. In the coming times, Nissan is expected to offer a wider range of vehicles in the Indian market. Nissan is also contemplating to launch the all-new Note electric hatchback in the Indian market in the coming years. However, it will not be a mass-segment product that will bring in volumes for the brand.

Watch the Toyota Innova conquer a landslide in Spiti like a boss! [Video]

$

0

The Himalayan region of India is extremely picturesque but due to the extreme weather, the terrain can be highly treacherous. The Himalayan region regularly gets landslides, which can disrupt the traffic for hours. Here is such a landslide that happened in the Spiti Valley region in Himachal Pradesh and shows a Toyota Innova conquering it like a boss.

The video by Himalayan Holidays Advanture shows the Himalayan road blocked because of a fresh landslide. Big boulders and stones can be seen laid on the road, which has caused the traffic to come to a standstill on both the ways. However, the driver of the Toyota Innova had other ideas and went on through the landslide. He is using the older Innova, which is still extremely common on the Indian roads, especially as commercial tourist vehicles.

The Innova can be seen charging up the affected area at high speed but it soon gets stuck and the wheels lose traction. The onlookers then help out the Innova by pushing the vehicle from behind. After getting out from the first situation, the Innova soon gets stuck in the second point where pushing does not help much. The driver then takes the vehicle in reverse and tries the challenge again. This time, he manages to find enough grip to go over the rocks and get clear of the landslide to reach the other side.

Toyota Innova Crysta is extremely popular among the fleet car owners for various reasons. Even in the mountains, the Toyota Innova is preferred because of its extremely good ride quality even on the rough roads. Apart from that, the Innova is quite rugged and can be manhandled without any consequences as seen in the video. The Toyota Innova is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, which can be tricky to drive, especially on the slippery surfaces. In the video, we can see that it is also raining in the area, which makes it much more difficult for the Toyota Innova to find grip on such surfaces. If it was a 4X4 vehicle, no external help would have been needed to go over the landslide.

Innova Off Road Featured

Is it safe to do such things?

Absolutely no. The Toyota Innova driver seems to be a local person and seems like he knows what he’s doing but driving over such a huge landslide is extremely dangerous. Landslides happen due to the loose surface and rocks. Driving vehicles over landslides are not recommended as the landslide can further slip due to the weight of the vehicle and can cause massive accidents. If things go wrong, the vehicle can even fall in the valley.

It is always good to wait for help to come. In the mountains, landslides are very common and often the authorities arrive and clear the road within hours if it is the main highway. Also, there are many alternate routes that can be taken to reach the destination. Yes, these options would take a little more time but it will ensure the safety of the vehicle and the occupants in the vehicle.

Royal Enfield Classic to get alloy wheels soon, Interceptor & Continental GT to follow

$
0
0

Royal Enfield launched the all-new Interceptor and the Continental GT 650 in the Indian market last year and both the bikes have become quite popular in the market. Earlier a few reports suggested that Royal Enfield is working on launching the alloy wheels for the Interceptor and Continental GT after online configurator showed “Coming Soon” on the wheels section of the bikes. However, Royal Enfield will launch the alloy wheels for the Classic models first according to a new report.

As per ACI, Royal Enfield will launch the alloy wheels for the Classic range first, which is the most popular model of the manufacturer in India. The manufacturer is testing the online configurator and testing the new sections on the Interceptor and Continental GT page. However, the alloy wheels will first launch and post that, Royal Enfield may launch alloy wheel options for the 650 Twins.

It should be noted that Royal Enfield offers Classic 350X and Classic 500X in the Indian market and both the bikes offer alloy wheels as standard. It is quite possible that similar alloy wheels will be available as an option for the customers who are looking to install alloy wheels on their bikes. Aftermarket alloy wheels have become quite popular in India and many people choose alloy wheels because they offer tubeless tyre support. All the spoked rims on the Royal Enfield bikes come with tubed tyres, which are prone to punctures and can create problems on the long distance journeys.

The spoked rims are more rugged for usage and offer much more flexibility than the alloy wheels. All the high-end adventure motorcycles offer spoked rims because of the ruggedness.

Royal Enfield will offer online configurator for all the bikes in the Indian market. Royal Enfield officially shows “coming soon” for the configurators like Himalayan and Classic models. Apart from the alloy wheels, Royal Enfield is expected to offer a range of accessories for the models including luggage racks, fly screen and other such accessories.

Royal Enfield is one of the most modified motorcycle brands in the Indian market. Most of the Royal Enfield motorcycle owners get modifications done soon after buying the bike. Royal Enfield officially has started promoting the modified motorcycles and many such motorcycles are showcased in the showrooms of Royal Enfield across India.

In the future, Royal Enfield is expected to launch a slew of new motorcycles based on the all-new “P” platform on which the new 650 Twins are based. In the coming, Royal Enfield is expected to launch Himalayan 650 and Classic 650 in the coming times. Currently, Royal Enfield is the best-selling manufacturer in the Indian market in the 350cc and above segment and with the new products in the market, Royal Enfield is expected to make its position only stronger in the market.

Check out a ‘made-in-India’ Ford Endeavour limousine’s interiors [Video]

The Ford Endeavour is one of the best full-size SUV under Rs. 40 lakh price mark in India. The latest generation Endeavour has the largest footprint in the segment and comes with a host of comfort and luxury features. The older generation model too was a pretty great SUV for its time and one can still find a lot f them being used by their owners on a regular basis. However, the video below by JAIN MOTOR’S JEEP shows an old generation Endeavour that has been fully converted into a stretch limousine. It comes with re-planned interiors and looks quite good on the outside too. Check out the video to get a better look at the vehicle.

As seen in the video, this Endeavour is a full-fledged stretch limousine. While we have in past seen custom made stretch sedan limos and a Scorpio limousine, an Endeavour Limousine is something that is not seen before.  The original look of the SUV has been maintained along with some exterior modifications. However, this type of modification is not legal according to the motor vehicle laws of our country and the Endeavour Limousine seen here can’t be used on public roads. Moreover, it can be confiscated by police if found plying on regular roads. But again, it can be used in private areas and events, where any type of mod job is allowed. For instance, this limousine can be used during a wedding when used inside the event premises

Endeavour Mod

Moving on, let’s talk about the stretch SUV limousine here. On the exteriors, the bumper has been fitted with custom bullbars along with multiple auxiliary lights. An LED bar has been mounted on the top while black roof rails run along the length of the roof. The ORVMs have been replaced too and now come with LED blinkers. The rear sports a top spoiler along with a custom bumper and LED lights. The centre body is custom made and has been attached by cutting the Endeavour apart and then join the front and rear end to the centre body accordingly. However, interiors are what limousines are known for and therefore let’s check out what it packs on the inside.

Endeavour Limo Mod

Stepping inside will reveal a huge lounge-like area with all kinds of creature comforts. Custom made sofas now run along one side of the limousine while wooden counters, stools etc, glass housings etc are omnipresent. The Endeavour limo here gets a 24 inch LED screen, mini fridge, a sofa cum bed, electric sunroof, inverter with battery, audio system and curtains around the window. It has also been fitted with custom LED ‘Disco’ lightning, which sets the party mood to high when turned on. The video also shows the Endeavour Limousine during the night where it turns into a party vehicle. The colour combination for the upholstery is beige and brown while the other interior shades match them.

Endeavour Mod

Overall, the mod job done on this Endeavour Limousine is quite good and it will be the centre of attraction wherever it goes. The ICE system (In Car Entertainment) is also quite good, capable of turning the vehicle into a party den whenever one wants. However, as we mentioned earlier, it is not road legal as such structural modifications are illegal on public roads. Then again, it is a perfect vehicle for private use, with a full rock and rolla styled limousine feel.

2019 Ford Aspire BLU spotted, launch expected soon

$

Ford launched the updated 2019 Figo earlier this month and introduced a sportier looking ‘BLU’ trim for the first time in India. The same trim has now been spotted on the Aspire sedan sans any camouflage which means its launch might just be around the corner. So what will the Aspire BLU offer its customers?

20190122 141112 1 2

Like the Figo BLU, the Aspire BLU will be the range-topping version and one that adds a bit of sportiness. While there will be no design changes as such, the BLU trim brings in external and internal tweaks. On the outside, the Aspire BLU is expected get blue inserts at places – for example around the Ford logo on the hood and around the fog lamp housing in the front bumper. Additionally, there will be extra sticker work on the car in the form of horizontal stripes on the side body and similar work on the boot lid.

But the biggest change will come in the form black out effect for the alloy wheels, external mirrors and the contrasting roof. This alone should make the Aspire look sporty enough to tickle the fantasies of new car buyers in the segment. The wheel size is expected to remain the same as the current Titanium model which means a size of 195/55 R15.

Img 20190316 084450

On the inside, the Aspire BLU, like its smaller sibling will receive blue inserts on the door pads, blue stitch for the seats and additional BLU badging as well. As this new trim will be the range topping version, expect the model to be fully loaded with features such as push button start, segment leading touch-screen interface, 6 Airbags, climate control et al.

The Aspire BLU will be offered with a choice of two engine options. These include a 1.2-litre DRAGON series petrol unit and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor. Both the engines will be paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The BLU is not offered with the Figo automatic (1.5) which makes us believe that Ford might follow the same pattern with the Aspire too.

New Ford Figo Blu Badging

Expect a premium of about Rs 10-15k for the BLU version over the current top spec Titanium+ variant. The current line up of compact sedans do not offer such an aesthetically better trim level yet. This should lend an upper edge to the Aspire in our opinion. The current prices for the top spec Titanium+ petrol and diesel trims are Rs 7.45 lakh and Rs 8.25 lakh respectively, prices being ex-showroom Delhi.

Tata unveiled the Harrier-based Buzzard at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The all-new 7-seater SUV will be launched in the Indian market later this year. According to a new report, the Buzzard will be known as the Cassini in the Indian market.

Image 1

According to Express Drives, Tata has filed for the patent for the Cassini name but the manufacturer is yet to announce the name officially. The Buzzard name is likely to be reserved for the European markets as the Tata Harrier will be sold as the Buzzard Sport there. The Tata Cassini will be the most expensive product from the brand and will grab the top position in the model line-up of Tata Motors.

The Tata Buzzard or Cassini will get a very attractive price tag, which is likely to be around Rs. 15 lakh and it will rival the Tata Mahindra XUV 500 directly in the market. The Tata Cassini is based on the same Omega Arc platform that also underpins the Tata Harrier. However, the overall size of the vehicle is bigger. Tata has made a few design changes on the Cassini that replaces the swooping down the coupe-like roof of the Harrier with a much straiter roof. Even the side gets a muscular design. The Cassini’s straighter roof will ensure much more spacious cabin space and enough headroom for the third-row passengers.

Tata recently also said that the Omega Arc platform can accommodate the 4WD drive system and Tata may introduce the system with the Cassini. Even the Harrier is expected to get the 4X4 system in the future along with features like a sunroof and automatic transmission.

The Cassini looks similar to the Harrier when it comes to the front-end. Even the interior of the Tata Cassini will be inspired by the Harrier and will offer a similar set-up with a floating-type infotainment system and faux wooden inserts.

Tata will use the 2.0-litre KRYOTEC engine to power the upcoming Cassini. In Harrier, the same engine produces a maximum of 138 Bhp and 350 Nm. In the Cassini, the power output is expected to be higher. Tata is also expected to offer 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai in the upcoming vehicle. The same transmission will also be available with the Harrier at a later stage.

Tata is planning to launch a lot of vehicles in coming times. Starting from the all-new Altroz, which will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata will launch the all-new Buzzard in the market too. Tata is also testing the new Tiago in the Indian market and the facelifted version is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming months. Tata may also launch high-performance JTP version of the Nexon in the Indian market.

Honda Car India launched the all-new tenth generation of the Civic in the Indian market earlier this month. The Japanese carmaker officially started taking bookings from 15th February 2019 and since then, they have received more than 1,600 bookings in India.

6honda Civic Review

The all-new Honda Civic takes on the likes Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla and the Skoda Octavia in the Indian market. The all-new Civic has returned after a gap of a few years and carries a price tag of Rs. 17.7 lakh for the base version. The top-end version of the Civic is priced at Rs. 22.29 lakh, both price ex-showroom. In comparison, the Hyundai Elantra is priced at Rs. 13.81 lakh and the Skoda Octavia carries a price tag of Rs. 15.99 lakh. The Toyota Corolla Altis, which is the best-selling model in the segment is priced at Rs. 15.7 lakh. Earlier, Honda announced that they have received more than 1,100 bookings for the Civic in just 20 days.

Honda offers both petrol and diesel engine options with the all-new Civic. There is a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 139 Bhp and peak torque of 174 Nm. All the petrol variants are only available with the CVT automatic transmission only. The diesel variants are powered by the 1.6-litre EarthDreams engine that is also available with the all-new CR-V in the Indian market. It generates a maximum of 118 Bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The diesel variant are only offered with the 6-speed manual transmission and is the most fuel efficient vehicle in the segment. Honda claims that the diesel engine returns a maximum fuel efficiency of 26.8 km/l as per ARAI while the petrol variants return a maximum of 16.5 km/l.

There are three trim levels of Honda Civic available in the Indian market – V, VX and ZX. All three variants are fully loaded with features. Even the base variant of the Honda Civic offers 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED cabin lamps, 12.7 cm infotainment system with four-speakers, steering mounted-controls, four airbags, ABS+EBD, electronic parking brake, reverse camera with sensors and remote closing and opening of the windows. The top-end version offers features like 6 airbags, full LED automatic headlamps, LED fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers and electrically operated sunroof with remote opening and closing. You can even start the vehicle with the remote key and it can cool down the cabin on the hot days.

Honda is currently targetting the existing Honda City customers who are looking to upgrade to a sedan. Currently, Honda offers the Amaze, City, Civic and the Accord sedans in the Indian market but the price of the Accord is quite expensive. Other than that, Honda may also launch an SUV in the Indian market that will take on the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.

Watch the Mahindra XUV500 pull a huge truck out of a hole [Video]

Mahindra XUV500 is a popular SUV in India, even more than that, it is a popular choice of wheels in countries like South Africa and Australia. The Mahindra XUV500 is available in both 2WD and 4WD drive layouts. The 4WD variant of the vehicle is quite capable and can reach many challenging places. In the past, many videos of Mahindra XUV500 recusing big SUVs and vehicles have become popular. Here is another such video that shows the brute force of the Mahindra XUV500.

Mahindra XUV500 pulling a truck

The Mahindra XUV500 seen in the video by E Goody is a 4WD variant and is from South Africa. This is the pre-facelift version of the vehicle and gets powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that is available on the Indian models too. Since it is a pre-facelift model, the engine generates a maximum power of 140 Bhp and a peak torque of 330 Nm. The new version produces a maximum of 155 Bhp and 360 Nm.

The video shows Mahindra XUV500 struggling for grip initially and then finally finding enough traction to take the truck out of the deep hole. The truck has got stuck in a hole, which seems to have been created by the freely rotating tyre of the heavy vehicle. It seems that the truck is also carrying some load, which makes it much difficult to rescue.

The Mahindra XUV500 comfortably pulled out the huge truck out of the hole. Even though the truck seems to be trying to get out of the hole and finally manages to find some grip when it comes outside, the whole scenario would not have been possible without the XUV500’s initial push.

It should be noted that the 4-wheel-drive system in the Mahindra XUV500 is not a full-fledged, off-road-friendly system. It does not get the low-ratio transfer case, which can be extremely useful when the vehicle is stuck in difficult situations. It is also not a full-time 4WD system and it comes into play only when the situation demands. There is also a feature that can be used to lock the 4WD, which ensures that the vehicle keeps the 4WD system engaged. This comes in very handy while driving over slippery surfaces like snow or sand. The AWD system remains activated only below 30 km/h and above that only the 2WD works in the vehicle.

Xuv Truck 1

There are many SUVs that have towed much larger vehicles. The Tata Hexa towed a passenger aircraft in India while Land Rover Discovery towed a passenger train. The low-end torque from the engines gives enough power to the vehicles so that they can tow heavyweight but it puts extreme pressure on the engine and the vehicle itself. Regularly towing weights, which is more than the recommended weight can reduce the life the vehicle immensely and can also cause the engine to seize. It is always important to check the owner’s manual and find out the tow weight limit of the vehicle.

Google maps will now alert you about speed cameras & accidents in India

$

Google Maps, which is one of the most commonly used navigation application on smartphones has rolled out new features in India. Google Maps can now alert users about accidents and mobile speed cameras on the road. The feature was earlier rolled out in countries like USA, UK, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Indonesia.

Google Maps

The feature allows Google Maps users to report an accident on the road by tapping a few buttons. The Google Maps starts showing the report of accident or mobile speed camera on the map after a few users have reported and confirmed the same. After some time, Google Maps even asks other road users if the mobile speed cameras are still present on the location and updates the map accordingly. The Google Maps also show the number of people who have reported the incident or the speed camera location.

At present, the feature is only available on the Android-powered devices but Google may launch the feature in the iOS devices soon. The new features will make driving experience better and will also allow the users to predict the road conditions.

Such features have been criticised by many worldwide but in India, the number of speed cameras deployed on the roads is minuscule when compared to the developed countries. Speed cameras are installed to keep the traffic in check and to bring down the number of accidents on the road. India sees one of the highest numbers of accidents in the world every year and overspeeding is one of the primary reasons for these accidents.

Google Maps is one of the most popular apps that also shows toll booths, alternate routes, live traffic and estimated time of arrival. The application also allows users to share their live location to the others and it can be tracked directly on the map.

There is no such ban on reporting the location of the speed cameras in India. However, it is not known if the fixed speed cameras will be shown on the maps. There are many locations on the Indian highways that get fixed location speed cameras that can be used to trap the violators. Many states have also started issuing electronic challans using traffic cameras and speed radar systems. However, the majority of challans are still done on the spot and there is a long way to go before all the processes are digitized in India.

Honda brought back the iconic Civic name to our shores this month. In its tenth generation now, the new Civic starts at Rs. 17.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model and goes all the way up to Rs. 22.30 lakhs for the top end variant. Though the pricing is a bit on the higher side, the sedan has been received warmly by the buyers. The coming 6 months will paint the real picture of how the sales really turn out to be. To attract prospective buyers towards the Civic, dealerships are doling out exciting offers on the sedan.

4honda Civic Review
The all-new Honda Civic

The offer we are talking about is in the form of free accessories, which are available at dealerships when buying your new Civic. However, the offer is only applicable if the buyer exchanges his old Honda for the Civic. There is no official statement from the manufacturer over this scheme and offers may vary from one dealership to another. This can also be seen as a loyalty bonus, albeit attached with the exchange offer. This offers sweetens the deal a bit for buyers looking towards buying the new Honda Civic.

Coming to the free accessories being given away with the new Civic, the offer package includes a chrome package, ambient footrest lighting, floor mats & cushions and front parking sensors. Again, we repeat that these accessories can be availed for free only of the buyer exchanges his old Honda car for the all-new Civic. Therefore,  it can be availed by the existing Honda customers and only then when they decide to exchange their old car, say a City or Jazz, for the new Civic. Talking about the accessories on offer, the various freebies on offer will increase the aesthetic appeal as well as the practicality of the car. The front parking sensors would especially prove helpful to many as big car parking has become a difficult job to do in crowded city areas.

21honda Civic Review

The all-new Honda Civic gets powered by both petrol end diesel engine options. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 139 Bhp along with 174 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine comes mated with a CVT automatic transmission only. The diesel variants, on the other hand,  get the 1.6-litre EarthDreams engine that is also found under the hood of the all-new CR-V in the Indian market. It churns out a maximum of 118 Bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The diesel variants are only available with a manual transmission. It is expected that the company might launch an automatic transmission option for the diesel engine a manual option for the petrol engine in future, but that largely depends on the market demand.

Dad gifts son a Suzuki Hayabusa as a birthday gift: Happiness all around [Video]

$

0

The Suzuki Hayabusa is a dream motorcycle of many in India and around the world. It is also quite popular in India. So much that Suzuki officially started assembling the legendary sports-tourer bike in India to bring down the prices. However, even after assembling the Suzuki Hayabusa in India, it comes with a price tag of Rs. 13.74 lakh, ex-showroom, which is not an achievable amount for a lot of such dreamers. But what if you get the bike as a gift from your dad? A long shot for many but not for this lucky chap from Gujarat whose dad gifted him a new Suzuki Hayabusa.

GT Films has put up the video that shows him announcing the arrival of the bike. The video also shows the unboxing of the bike and then attachment of the parts like ORVMs, visor and other such detachable parts. Gaurav Thakor, who is now the owner of the bike came with his whole family to take the delivery from the showroom. The Hayabusa is finished in the white-red shade and looks extremely good. The whole family, especially Gaurav looks quite happy on the video and he also cuts a cake to celebrate the occasion. He was later seen posing with the newly acquired motorcycle for pictures too. As all beloved vehicles get a name, even this Hayabusa has been named by Gaurav. It is christened as ‘Hency’ by the owner.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is a motorcycle for long distance journeys and is extremely comfortable to ride for long hours. The bike is powered by an inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 1,340cc engine that generates a maximum power of 200 Bhp at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 155 nm at 7,200 rpm. It gets a 6-speed manual transmission and can do an electronically limited top speed of 299 km/h. The Hayabusa weighs a mighty 268 kg and is extremely stable on the straight lines. The long-wheelbase of the bike makes the bike stay in a straight line but it can take some effort to turn the bike into the corners at high speeds. Gaurav earlier owned a Bajaj Pulsar 220F, which is one of India’s most popular bikes.

The Suzuki Hayabusa offers three different modes that can be used for various situations like city riding and track riding. Due to the larger displacement engine, the bike generates a lot of torque at lower rpm compared to the litre-class superbikes like Suzuki GSX-1000R and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. It can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and hit 200 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. It takes around 25.4 seconds to reach its top speed. The Suzuki Hayabusa gets dual disc brakes at front and a single disc brake at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard with the bike.

BMW G 310R & G 310 GS get over 10 % discount: Royal Enfield twins effect?

$
0
0

The recently launched Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 twins are selling like hot cakes. This has  also resulted in sales of other premium motorcycles in the Rs. 2-4 lakh bracket taking a hit. Many manufacturers are  responding with steep discounts. BMW Motorrad, for its part, is offering nearly 10 % off on the G 310R and G 310 GS  motorcycles. The discount is through a 0 % interest and 0 % down payment scheme, which allows buyers to save up to Rs. 40,000, or more than 10 % of the motorcycles’ on-road price.

Bmw G 310r G 310gs Discount

While the BMW G 310R is priced at Rs. 2.99 lakhs, the G 310 GS is Rs. 49,000 pricier. Both motorcycles are contract  manufactured at TVS Motors’ Hosur factory. TVS and BMW are in a joint venture to build small capacity motorcycles.  While the G 310R and G 310GS are motorcycles built by TVS Motors for BMW Motorrad, for sale in India and  international markets, the Apache RR 310 fully faired sportsbike belongs to the same family, and is sold by TVS  Motors. Though all three bikes are built by TVS, sales and service of the BMW bikes are handled by BMW dealerships  across India. Also, spare part prices and service costs are different.

Coming to the bikes themselves, the BMW G 310R is a streetfighter, meant for urban environments and the occasional highway spin. The BMW G 310GS, on the other hand, is a touring focused motorcycle, meant for highways and bad roads. To achieve this, the G 310GS gets long travel suspension at the front and rear, a tall front fairing that offers plenty of wind protection, revised seating and easier ergonomics that are aimed at comfort over longer distances. Both motorcycles share the engine and gearbox though.

The engine in question is the 310cc, four stroke reverse inclined motor that’s been designed by BMW Motorrad and  built by TVS Motors using significant amounts of localization. The motor makes a peak power of 34 Bhp while peak  torque is rated at 34 Nm. A four valve head, twin overhead camshafts and fuel injection are standard on this motor,  which is paired to a six speed manual gearbox. A spirited performer, the engine gives both BMW motorcycles a top speed of over 140 Kph while the 0-100 Kph sprint comes up in less than 8 seconds.

One thing that a lot of BMW G 310R and G 310GS owners have been complaining about is vibration at higher rpms. The motor is not the smoothest singles out there and for people used to very refined engines, the gruff nature of the 310cc motor may come as a surprise. However, other bits of the motorcycles do more than make up for the gruff nature of the engine, and both motorcycles are said to be great performers on the road. The high price tag is a dissuading factor though. Intent on maintaining premium-ness, BMW Motorrad isn’t climbing down from the pricing. However, the large discount offered through the 0 percent interest scheme and 0 % down payment offer, the brand hopes to attract buyers.
