Tork Motors has revealed the launch timeline of their first production bike, the T6X. According to the latest reports, the bike will be launch by the end of 2019. To let you know, Tork Motors is a Pune-based electric motorcycle company that has been working on electric bikes for a few years now. The T6X will be the first product to be mass produced by the company. This will also make it the first Indian bike maker to launch an electric bike in the country. Currently, almost all of the other players in the two-wheeler industry are focusing more on electric scooters rather than motorcycles, with a couple of electric scooters on sale already,

Talking about the bike, the T6X was spotted testing in January this year which sparked off the rumour of its launch happening soon. It is powered by a 72 Ah Lithium-ion unit which can withstand 1,000 cycles and can regain up to 80 per cent of its charge in just an hour of charge. The bike will have a cruising speed of 100 km/h and a range of aro it weighs 130 kg. The BLDC motor has a peak power of 6 kW and has a single speed transmission. According to Tork Motors, the T6X will have a range of 100 kilometres at a cruising speed of 100 km/h. the BLDC motor of the T6X sends 27 Nm of instantly available torque to the rear wheel of the motorcycle, which ensures quick acceleration of the bike.

It features a trellis frame chassis along with conventional telescopic front forks and rear monoshock suspension setup. The bike weighs 130 Kg, which makes it light on its foot. Braking duties will be done by a 267 mm disc brake up front and a 220 mm unit at the rear which will help bring the motorcycle to a stop quickly. Like many EVs, the T6X also gets the regenerative braking feature. This allows the battery to be charged whenever the bike slows down. The T6X will run on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends shod on with 80/100-17 front tires and 110/80-17 rear tyres.

According to Kapil Shelke, CEO, Tork Motors, the company will take the organic road to growth. He said :

“Instead of going all out, we will prefer to see the market reception and slowly build it from there,”

The company is currently building a manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharastra. It will have a capacity to bring out 20,000 motorcycles in a year, the assembly line for which will be set up at a cost of Rs 6-7 crore. Shelke further added

“The assembly will start then. The company will give a touch and feel of the bike through the experience centres,”

Some of the features the Tork T6X will come with include the likes of a digital TFT screen, navigation, utility box, mobile charging, smartphone app support, anti-theft system, Geo-Fencing, and LED DRLs among others. The main competition for the T6X will be the Revolt electric motorcycle which is scheduled to be launched in June. The company recently hired Roy Kurian, as head of sales and marketing. He was previously VP sales and marketing at Yamaha India.

The Avengers Endgame was released last month and the movie is already on its way to become the top-grossing movie of all time. Directed by Russo brothers and based on Marvel comic book characters, the Avengers Endgame marks the end of the 11-year and 22 movies old saga. The Avengers have a lot of fan following across the world with a number of them doing quite unique things to show their love for the characters. Parth Verma is just your regular next door guy who is gripped by the fever of Avengers. Unlike others though, he let his passion for these comic book characters flow out in a unique way. He turned his Maruti Suzuki WagonR cab into a comic book paradise. Take a look at the video below by Hindustan Times before we discuss more on this unique car.

As seen in the video, he has filled his car with action figures of several superheroes. Moreover, the Avengers in his WagonR are joined by the DC superheroes, animated movie characters, several Anime characters along with Disney cartoon characters. We see Groot with his pal Rocket, Superman, Batman, Deadpool, Hulk, Wall-E and Eve, Kakashi Hatake (Naruto), Flash, Smurfs, Spiderman, Goku along with several other stuffed toys and Disney cartoon characters. Parth has also decorated his cars with several stickers of superheroes among other characters.

Parth himself is is a post graduate in Finance and International Business Management and is CW (Cost and management Accountancy) inter qualified. He has three years worth experience of working with various financial based companies. He has now been driving a cab for around 2.5 years in Delhi.  The reason for this, he says, was that he wanted to do something which combined his passion (comics) with his profession, something that his financial sector jobs didn’t offer. Of Course, his parents aren’t that happy, like any other parent would be, on his leaving his day job and driving cabs around the city but for Parth, this is what he likes to do and he doesn’t consider any job as petty work.

Avengers Passion

Parth hails from Lucknow and all his passengers give him full rating upon being dropped off. He offers his passengers with confectionaries and napkins when they get inside the car. Their reaction, Parth adds, is something which further gives him satisfaction in his job. Needless to say, anyone would be thrilled to ride in such a cab. Parth claims that all this eases out customers’ stress by providing them with a different atmosphere inside the cab. His advice for everyone is to follow their passion and work on it. A hat tip to Parth from outside then for make this harsh world a better place to be in and making someone’s day, every day.

This modified Mahindra Bolero is the perfect adventure safari rig

The Mahindra Bolero is one of the most popular utility vehicles in India even after almost 20 years since its launch. It is known for its rugged build quality, dependability, a decent set of engines and an affordable price tag. Due to its tough build and cheap maintenance cost, it is very popular in rural and suburban areas. It is mostly bought for its workhorse utility nature and hence is not a very common vehicle in the mod circuits. People at SUN Enterprises, however, plunged their hands into a Bolero and converted it into a desirable camping SUV. Take a look at the picture below which shows the before and after modification transition of this Bolero.

Bolero Mod

The Hulk green paint job makes it an instant eye-grabber. The major change here though is the roof which has been given a farewell on this Bolero. The roof and pillars have been cut-off and replaced with a metal frame. The roof has been covered with canvas reminiscent of the older Mahindra Jeep models. Topping it off is a metal exoskeleton which provides safety as well as utility.

Bolero Mod Front

The canvas roof has foldable windows which can be rolled up or down as per the needs. It also gets nifty canvas sunroofs which can be opened or closed via chains. This means that one can have a good view of the sky without rolling the whole roof away. All this makes this Bolero one hell of a camping vehicle.

Bolero Mod Side

Coming to the front end, a custom off-road metal bumper has replaced the stock unit for good. The fenders all over the Bolero have been flared using aftermarket black plastic fitments which add to the overall appeal of the car. Another major aesthetic upgrade are those cool alloy wheels that have been blacked out and get a shiny hub top. The tires have been shod on with off-road spec tires from Maxxis which further add to the practicality of the car.

Bolero Mod Rear

The sides also get custom steps which enhance the ingress and egress convenience. Moving to the rear, the bumper here also has been replaced with a custom off-road spec unit. The stock wheel mount of the Bolero has been mounted on the tailgate. Rest of the rear remains mostly stock, apart from the absence of D-pillars and windshield.

Bolero Mod Interiors

The interiors have been given a full revamp and now look quite premium. The stock seats have made way for custom leather-wrapped units complete with hand-rests and adjustable headrests. The dashboard has been kept close to stock. The seat belts have been retained and are now mounted on the metal frames in place of the pillars. All in all, this modified Bolero is the perfect vehicle for the camper in you and the weapon of choice for outdoor tours.

This RED HOT Honda Accord gets massively wide wheels: Cool or Wacky?

$
0
0

The Honda Accord is a popular sedan worldwide. It is also quite popular among modifiers and there are a number of eye candy examples of modified Accords across the country. We have seen a number of mod themes on the Accord like lowrider and JDM-spec to name a few. However, the red Honda Accord featured here is different from every other modified Accord in India. It probably has the widest wheels on any Accord India. Take a look at the pictures here and decide yourself.

Honda Accord Rear Bold

This Accord has been fitted with massively wide wheels that stick out a bit too much out of the car’s body. The rear wheels are several inches out of the body line. For this to be done, spacers are used which increases the distance between the wheels and the hub as is seen here. The sedan gets custom aftermarket fenders on all wheels to mask the extra wide tire setup.

Accord Mod

Apart from the wide tires, this Accord gets several other changes which make it look radical. The front end gets a custom bumper fitted with LED DRLs along with a blacked-out lip spoiler. This gives the car a lowered stance which goes well with the overall mod theme of this Honda Accord. Draped in a shade of bright red, it catches eyeballs even when miles away.

Accord Mod Rear 1

The side skirts and custom fenders further give it the lowrider look of this car. The owner of this car has also fitted a huge fixed wing on its boot which takes up its aesthetic quotient up by miles. The black wing contrasts with the red paint of the car and makes it look distinctively sporty. Don’t think of any performance gains here as that wing is more of an aesthetic piece rather than anything else.

Accord Mod Rearr 2

The rear gets a custom aftermarket bumper along with a diffuser. Twin exhaust tips are placed on either side of the diffuser and the stock exhaust system has been replaced with a sporty sounding aftermarket unit. The headlights and the tail lights have been replaced with aftermarket LED units that add to the looks of the car at night.

Talking about the wheel placement of this Accord, it affects the ride quality and handling negatively. Going by the super wide stance of this car, both of these aspects would have gone for a toss for sure. However, modifications and customisation are an extension of one’s personality and the question finally rests upon what one wants. What someone may think of as cool can be quirky for others in the car modification scene, though most of the enthusiasts share the same view on customisations and modification to quite an extent.

Fury 175 to Fantabulous scooter: FORGOTTEN Royal Enfields of India

$

0

Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand in the world that is still operating. The Royal Enfield brand was set-up in India in 1955, and it has been 64 years, and over the years, Royal Enfield has launched quite a few models. While the modern day line-up is extremely popular, there are a few models that were launched by the brand and are now forgotten. Here is a list of such motorcycles and two-wheelers that were launched in the past but are soon forgotten.

Royal Enfield Fury

Fury 175

Royal Enfield launched the Fury 175 in India in 1959. The bike was rebadged Zundapp KS175 from Germany after the company became defunct in 1984. The Fury became quite popular in India among the automobile enthusiasts because of its German connection. It came with a five-speed transmission and front disc brake from Brembo. The engine also came with a sleeveless hard chromed cylinder barrel that was a brilliant piece of engineering.

Royal Enfield Explorer 50

The Royal Enfield Explorer 50 was another rebadged bike from the Zundapp brand. It was only available for a brief period in 1980. In Germany, the bike was sold to the Mokick license holders that were meant for the 16-year olds. The bike was powered by a 50cc engine and had a 3-speed transmission.

Royal Enfield Lightning

Royal Enfield Lightning

The Royal Enfield Lightning can be termed as the spiritual predecessor of the Thunderbird. The Lightning was a cruiser bike, and the design was quite similar to the Thunderbird. However, just like the Thunderbird, the Lightning did not become as popular and was discontinued in 2003. The Lightning came with 535cc single-cylinder engine that produced a maximum of 26 Bhp and 38 Nm. It came with a 4-speed transmission, and the bike could go up to 125 km/h.

Royal Enfield Silver Plus

The Royal Enfield Silver Plus was a step-through motorcycle. It was launched in the 1980s when step-through motorcycles were gaining attention for their practicality, ease of riding and utility space. It was one of the first step-through motorcycles in India. The Silver Plus had a hand-operated cable linked gear shifter. The bike featured 65-cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a two-speed transmission. The step-through was manufactured with assistance from Zundapp. Later in its life-span, the Silver Plus got a three-speed transmission.

Royal Enfield Fantabulous

Royal Enfield introduced the Fantabulous to gain a share of the growing scooter market in India. Yes, Royal Enfield also made a scooter but it never became too popular in the market. A 175-cc, 2-Stroke engine powered it from Villiers and it churned out a maximum of 7.5 Bhp. It also featured a self-starter, which was a rare thing even in bikes in those days.

Royal Enfield Taurus

Royal Enfield Taurus was the only diesel-powered bike in India that went into mass production. The bike was powered by a massive 325-cc, single-cylinder that got Lambardini indirect injection. It only produced a maximum power of 6.5 Bhp and 15 Nm of peak torque. The bike could reach a top speed of 65 km/h as it was quite heavy at 196 kg. The bike featured an engine from Greaves-Lombardini and was popularly known as ‘Diesel Bullet’ among enthusiasts.

Royal Enfield Mofa

Royal Enfield entered the moped segment in India with the light-weight suspension-less 25-cc Mofa. The bike was designed in Italy by Morbidelli and was the smallest capacity motorcycle ever produced by Royal Enfield in India. The step-through got a single tube design and looked like a motorized cycle. There are only a few examples of the Mofa in India so it is quite rare to spot one here.

The mid-SUV segment is among the most popular car segment in the Indian auto scene right now. The segment is populated by SUVs like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa and Hyundai Tucson among others. With more and more people going for them now, the waiting periods of most of these SUVs have risen. The Tata Harrier has the longest waiting period currently while the Jeep Compass has the least waiting period on it. The waiting period for the Harrier stands at 4 months currently (Bangalore), which is a substantial period and more than almost all regular cars sold in India.

Tata Harrier 10

The Jeep Compass, on the other hand, has an average waiting period of 15 days. Hyderabad and Surat have the least waiting period for the Compass and one can drive home in one almost instantly after buying. However, Coimbatore has a waiting period of three months on the Compass. Coming to the Tata Harrier, Bangalore has the highest waiting period as already mentioned. Other cities have varying waiting periods, ranging from 7 days in Surat, 15 weeks in Delhi, and three weeks in Mumbai and Kolata.

Jeep Compass Hybrid

The Mahindra XUV500 has a lower waiting period than the Tata Harrier. It can be had instantly in cities like Pune, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Patna and Faridabad. Bangalore has a waiting period of 10 days while Lucknow has a waiting period of 45 days. Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Surat dealerships will be able to deliver the SUV within 15 days while Chennai, Indore and Coimbatore dealerships will need at least three weeks. The Hyundai Tucson, on the other hand, has quite a low average waiting period, ranging from 10 days to a month. Coming to the Tata Hexa, the Tata flagship model can be had immediately in most parts of the country like Surat, Thane, Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai. The maximum waiting period for the Hexa is 3 months in Noida and Ghaziabad.

new mahindra xuv500

The Tata Harrier is also the current sales leader in the mid SUV segment. It has been on top since the past two months and is expected to continue its lead in future. However, upcoming rivals like the MG Hector and the Kia SP2i based SUV will provide it with some good challenge. The MG Hector is expected to be launched in June while the Kia SUV will come later.

Tata Hexa Xm+

The Jeep Compass, which once was the top seller in the segment has slumped down the sales chart. The upcoming Trailhawk variant is expected to infuse some attraction to it. However, it will be the top end variant and will be priced around the Rs. 25 lakh price mark. Therefore, it is not expected to contribute to the overall sales of Compass significantly.

‘Super cool features every car must have: EcoSport’s emergency assist to Innova’s auto-dipping headlamps

$

0

Modern day cars are a blend of performance, features and comfort. Cars have become an important part of the lives and manufacturers offer a long list of innovative and cool features to attract the customers. However, there are a few features that are super cool and should be a part of every car. Here are five such features.

Gesture sensing boot release – Ford Endeavour

The new Ford Endeavour offers a very cool and practical feature that can be very useful in everyday life. The new Endeavour offers the gesture-sensing tailgate release that can be used when there are bags in both the hands. The gesture-sensing can be used without keeping things on the ground. This is something that everyone can be useful in every car. It is a powered tailgate that makes operating it quite easy.

360 Camera – Nissan Kicks

The 360 cameras are quite common in luxury, high-end cars. However, for the first time, an affordable car came with the 360-degree camera. Nissan launched the Kicks in the market that gets a 360-degree camera system. The feature seamlessly stitches the feed captured from the various cameras placed at different spots in the car and shows the all-around view of the vehicle. It is quite useful while taking the vehicle to cramped places and through crowded streets. It is also quite helpful to park the vehicle in tight places.

Emergency Assist – Ford cars

Emergency assistance is a very useful feature that automatically sends the location to the pre-saved contacts in the system during an accident. It also contacts the emergency services that ensure immediate help to the accident victims. Ford currently offers the features with their line-up including the affordable vehicles like EcoSport. It is something that is very useful and all the cars should come with it. Soon, vehicles like Hyundai Venue and MG Hector will also come with similar emergency assistance feature.

Automatic door protectors – Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda offers one of the most innovative features in their vehicles. Their flagship vehicle in India – the Kodiaq offers a unique feature that protectors the edges of the doors. Whenever the doors are opened, a plastic cladding comes out and snugly fits the edge of the door. It is a very neat feature and ensures that the vehicle does not need any aftermarket door protectors. This is a very clever feature and something that will be very useful in all kinds of vehicles. The feature was first launched by Ford in the international market but the Kodiaq is the first and the only car to offer the feature in the Indian market.

Auto levelling headlamps – Toyota Innova Crysta

Auto levelling headlamps are extremely useful and also make the roads safer too. Most affordable cars offer the manual levelling and it is one of the most unused and unknown features. The automatic headlamps ensure that the throw of the headlamp beams are always optimum and also keeps the beam away from the eyes of the drivers of cars coming from the opposite.

Mahindra has begun testing a Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) compliant version of the recently launched XUV300 sub-4 meter compact SUV. A test mule of the SUV was spied in Chennai, a city that hosts Mahindra’s research and development facility. The XUV300 is sold in India with two engine options – a 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol and a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel. Both engines are expected to meet the much tighter Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms, which will come into force for all vehicles sold in India from April 2020. Based on the Ssangyong Tivoli’s X100 platform, the XUV300 is a shortened, restyled, feature-rich SUV that rivals the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.

Mahindra Xuv300 Bs6

Spyshot courtesy MotorVikatan

The XUV300 is one of the most feature-rich compact SUVs sold in India apart from being the most powerful vehicle in its segment. It’s particularly big on safety features. Seven airbags including a driver’s airbag, seat belt reminders for all five passengers, disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, EBD, anti-roll over protection, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system are the various features on offer. As for creature comforts, the SUV is loaded with ambient lighting, electric sunroof, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 60:40 split rear seat and more.

Under the hood, the petrol engine is a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged unit with 112 Bhp-200 Nm. The torque figure is best in class. The diesel engine is a unit  borrowed from the Marazzo. It displaces 1.5 liters and has a four cylinder layout. Both power and torque outputs of the diesel – 115 Bhp and 300 Nm – are class leading numbers. Both engines are offered with 6 speed manual transmissions that drive the front wheels. There is no all wheel drive layout, even as an option. Mahindra will soon introduce 6 speed AMT options on both the petrol and diesel engined variants of the XUV300. The AMT variants are likely to be about Rs. 50,000-60,000 pricier than the manual versions.

Once BS6 emission norms kick in, both the petrol and diesel variants of the Mahindra XUV300 will get pricier. However, the diesel version is expected to get a lot more pricier than the petrol version. The difference in prices between the petrol and diesel engined variants of the XUV300 could increase to up to Rs. 2 lakhs, and most buyers are likely to shift towards the petrol engined model. So, if you want to skip the price hike, it’s better that you buy the SUV before April 2020. Mahindra is also working on an all-electric version of the SUV, due for launch next year. The XUV300 Electric is expected to have a range of around 250 300 kilometers per charge, a 0-100 Kph sprint time of 11 seconds and a 160 Kmph top speed.

Tata Nexon: What will happen if you press start-stop button in a moving vehicle [Video]

$
0
0

The Tata Nexon, like most other modern cars sold in India is equipped with a start-stop button. The start-stop button is meant to be a convenience feature, allowing the driver to start and stop the engine of the car without having to physically remove/retrieve the key from her/his pocket. It also allows a keyless entry into the car. Now, what happens if you press the start-stop button in a moving car, in this case a Tata Nexon? This video will reveal just that. Check it out.

As the video indicates, when the start-stop button of a moving Tata Nexon is pressed for a short duration, like it would happen in case of a mistake, there will be absolutely no reaction from the car’s engine. In other words, the car’s engine will continue to run normally. However, if the start-stop button is kept depressed for 3 seconds, then the engine will shut off, cutting power to the steering (which is electrically assisted) and the brakes (which are hydraulically assisted).

The lack of assist for the steering and brakes means that the effort needed to turn/stop the Nexon will be much higher. Clearly, fiddling around the start-stop button is not a good idea, except in case of an emergency. Also, if you find yourself in a situation that requires you to shut a moving car’s engine by pressing the start-stop button for 3 seconds continuously, make sure that the clutch is pressed simultaneously. Failing to press the clutch will result in sudden deceleration caused due to gears (transmission) locking.

So, when exactly should the start-stop button be pressed continuously for 3 seconds to shut off the engine?

Tata Nexon Start Stop Featured

  1. In case of a fire in a moving vehicle, when you need to shut down the engine.
  2. In case of brake failure, when you intend to shut off the engine and use the gears to lock the wheels.

The start-stop button should be pressed for more than 3 seconds in a moving vehicle only in case of an emergency. Doing so can damage the vehicle’s  transmission badly if the clutch is not pressed simultaneously. So, make sure you don’t fiddle around with the start-stop button just for fun. The action of the start-stop button is the same for most vehicles. In case of vehicles equipped with an automatic gearbox, pressing the start-stop button for an extended period of time when the vehicle is in motion will result in the vehicle’s engine shutting off when the vehicle is still in gear.

In a dealers conference at Macau, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it would launch no less than 4 new cars this year even as the automaker battles a sales slowdown that has hit the entire car industry in India. Maruti has already launched the all-new WagonR earlier this year, which has been the car maker’s biggest launch so far. The Ciaz and Ertiga also received brand new turbo diesel engines over the past few weeks. The Alto and Eeco got additional safety features and the former got a mild facelift as well. In the coming months, Maruti will hit the launch button in a big way. Of the four cars that Maruti has planned to launch this year, three will be based on existing models, and one will be an all-new model that was first shown to India at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo.

The car in question is the Future S – a vehicle that will be a crossover meant to sit in between hatchbacks and compact SUVs. The Future S will be a petrol-only  offering, and Maruti could even offer a mild hybrid on it. While it’s touted to replace the Alto, it’s unlikely to do so. We expect Maruti to sell it as a micro SUV,  positioning it between the likes of the WagonR and Swift. The production version of the Future S is expected to arrive during this year’s festive season. The car is expected to be Bharat Stage 6 emission norms ready, and also compliant with Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) safety norms. With volumes sagging, Maruti needs a blockbuster launch this year, and the Future S is expected to be just that.

Another car said to be in the works is a 7 seat version of the Maruti WagonR. This car is expected to be sold through the NEXA chain of dealerships rather than the Arena dealerships from where the regular WagonR is sold. The three row version of the WagonR is likely to have a 5+2 seating layout, and will rival the upcoming Renault Triber compact MPV. It will measure under 4 meters in length, and is expected to squeeze in the additional row of seats in the car’s existing body. The 1.2 liter K-Series petrol engine is likely to power this version of the WagonR. What remains to be seen is whether Maruti will offer both manual and AMT options on its latest 7 seater.

Ertiga Sport 1

The other two cars from Maruti are the petrol hybrid version of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV and a 6 seat, luxury version of the new Ertiga MPV. Called the Ertiga Sport, the latest iteration of the MPV will be a top-of-the-line model. It’ll be sold through NEXA dealerships. The petrol-hybrid version of the Vitara Brezza will use the 1.5 liter K-Series petrol engine with 104 Bhp-138 Nm, and the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) mild hybrid unit. Long awaited, the petrol version of the Brezza is meant to blunt the attack from competitors’ SUVs, all of which offer petrol engine options. So far, the Brezza has been a diesel-only compact SUV.

Mukesh Ambani’s Toyota Fortuner helps rescue an injured biker

Helping injured people during road accidents is something that most Indians do not like to do. There are numerous cases where the accident victims have bled to death on the roads while the motorists just keep on looking at them without offering any help. One such similar incident happened in Mumbai where a biker crashed into a divider and a convoy of vehicles that provides cover to Mukesh Ambani and his family stopped for help.

Mukesh Ambani’s convoy helping accident victim

The video put up by Thunder On Road shows an accident site on the crowded streets of Mumbai. The video shows an injured biker who allegedly could not spot the median and crashed into it. He was severely injured as he was not wearing any safety helmet according to the onlookers. While numerous vehicles were stopping at the spot and were passing by the accident victim, none of them offered any help or took the injured bike to the hospital.

After some time, two cars from a convoy of vehicles stopped at the spot and a few men started helping the victim. The white Toyota Fortuner and Land Rover Discovery, which are a part of the security detail of India’s richest family had stopped on the spot to help the victim and take him to a hospital nearby. The registration details of the Toyota Fortuner belong to “Reliance Industries” confirm the ownership of the vehicle too.

It should be noted that the Ambani family has a Z-Plus security cover and they are protected by a convoy whenever they are travelling. Even the wife of Mukesh Ambani gets the Y-level security cover. Various cars are a part of the Ambani convoy including the luxury SUVs like the BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery. Other vehicles in the convoy include Ford Endeavours and Toyota Fortuners too. Even though the safety cover protecting the family is provided by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the vehicles used by them belongs to the Ambani family. It is undoubtedly the most expensive security details for a civilian in India.

Help road accident victims

Fortuner Ambani Featured

Helping road accident victims is something that should be done by everyone. Since Ambulance can take time to reach the spot, it is important for the motorists to help the victims. If the accident victims do not get the required medical attention soon after the accident, the golden hour is lost and often it turns out to be fatal. There is a perception in the minds of the motorists that helping accident victims will cause unnecessary hassles and the police will also ask questions regarding the accidents. However, in a new law passed by the Supreme Court, helping the road victims is now much easier.

According to the new laws, a good Samaritan who helps accident victims and takes them to the hospital can leave immediately and are not liable to answer the police. Various state governments have even started rewarding such helping people to encourage more such efforts on the roads. Also, the personal details of the bystander or the one who has helped the victim is kept as a secret.

Tesla cars get self-diagnosis feature: Can pre-order parts automatically

$

US EV maker Tesla manufacturers some of the most technologically advanced cars on the planet. The brand model lineup range includes the likes of the Model S, Model X, Model Y and the Model 3. These cars have level 3 autonomy which means that they can drive themselves under most of the conditions with a little human assist. The latest feature introduced on Tesla cars is automatic self-diagnosis, which means that Tesla cars can now identify any problem in their system themselves. Not only this, but the cars can also order any necessary spare parts if required.

That’s some next level tech which we can expect from only the likes of Tesla. While this concept is not exactly new, Tesla has introduced the most advanced and practical model of the self-diagnosis feature to date. The feature came into light when Tesla car owners took to social media sites like Twitter and Reddit to share the seemingly amazing feature. The tweet below shows a notification on Tesla’s infotainment screen of a problem with the car’s power conversion system. The car has not only self-diagnosed this problem but has also ordered replacement parts for installation at a Tesla service centre.

Several other social media users also confirmed the news. Tesla itself posted a tweet confirming the self-diagnosis feature.

This comes as a relief to Tesla owners who have been facing aftersales service issues due to lack of authorized service centres. Many owners have to wait for around six weeks in order to have simple body repairs done. The self-diagnosis feature does not solve the issue completely but is a major step towards improving the aftersales service of its cars. Car owners can also cancel any automatically pre-ordered part as per their want. Owners could already schedule service and view vehicle information through the Tesla app, and the company could even remotely access maintenance information to diagnose problems and make software changes if needed.

This feature will be of even major importance in lesser developed countries where EVs are not yet common and hence their servicing and breakdowns can only be handled by authorized service centres. Local garages and mechanics are still way behind in understanding EV tech which makes it quite unsafe for them to lay their hands on such cars.

For those of you wondering when would Tesla officially arrive in India, Elon Musk tweeted earlier this March that it could happen this year and if not, then next year for sure. There are a few Tesla cars in India already imported here by those who wanted something different from regular cars. The Tesla Model X, which is an EV SUV, is apparently the most popular Tesla car in India with quite a few of them plying on the roads.

KTM 390 Duke modified into an off-road friendly adventure tourer: BEST in India?

The KTM 390 Duke Adventure is one of the most awaited bikes in the country since long. Based on the 390 Duke, the Adventure version is an adventure tourer that has many enthusiasts in line to buy it. The bike has been spotted in its final phase of testing and will be launched this year only. However, a lot of modifiers and enthusiasts have already started working on their 390 Duke in order to turn it into an adventurer tourer and we have seen some good examples that have spun off due to this. The latest on the list is this very cleanly modified 390 Duke that gets all the adventure tourer kit that the bike needed. Take a look at the video below by HDT Customs, before we get onto the details of this mod job.

Without a doubt, this is arguably one of the best 390 Duke base adventure tourers in the country we have seen lately. The bike was made on special order by the owner of this KTM 390 Duke. The modifiers of this bike, HDT Customs have experience in building adventure tourers based on the Duke motorcycle series and have earlier made a 200 Duke based adventure tourer too, which is also shown on the video alongside its 390 Duke counterpart. Let’s now take a look at what all has been done on the bike to turn it into this Avatar.

Duke Adv 2

One of the most challenging tasks for the mod guys was to replace the stock suspension with a unit borrowed from the Royal Enfield Himalayan and then calibrating it to work perfectly on the Duke. The ABS adjustment and calibration was another task that took time but they made sure that there is no space or any error. The bike now runs on spoked aluminium rims which are shoed on with off-road spec tires. The front end gets a beak type fender along with a windshield and auxiliary lights.

Duke Adv

The ride height of the bike has been enhanced along with the ground clearance which makes it better when off the road. The whole look of the bike has been inspired by the KTM Duke 790 Adventure, which is one of the best mid-level adventure tourers. The exhaust is the same exhaust unit but gets a smaller catalytic converter along with altered piping. This gives a throatier note along with improving ground clearance.

According to the guys at HDT Customs who made this bike happen, the total cost of the project was around Rs. 1.5 lakhs and it took them four months to complete the project. That is some serious money to be put on a bike that comes for nearly Rs. 2.50 lakhs without taxes but the owner seemed to quite happy and that’s what it is all about.

Unhelmeted cop uses phone while riding, jumps signal & ABUSES biker when confronted [Video]

While there are still scores of two-wheeler riders in India who remain unaware of the helmet safety and decline to use a helmet, even the law enforcers are often caught riding without the important safety gear. A cop in Mumbai was caught on camera for riding without the helmet and jumping traffic signals. He was confronted by a biker and who received abuses in return.

Helmet-less cop abuses a biker

The video put up by Rev It Up on YouTube shows the video taken from the helmet-mounted camera of the rider. The rider can be seen following a Mumbai police officer on his motorcycle who is without a helmet and riding fearlessly on the streets of the city. The cop can also be seen passing a police station and waving at random cops without fearing his unlawful act.

As the cop approaches a traffic signal that turned to red on the camera, the person making the video can be heard saying that he wants to see if the cop will follow the rules. But surprisingly the cop just takes his motorcycle to the side and breaks the signal alongside another random person on a scooter. Since the rider wanted to confront the police personnel, he really wanted the signal to turn to green quickly but he waits until the signal turns green. When the rider stops at the signal, it shows “48 seconds” to turn the light to green.

Mumbai Cop Brazen Featured

As soon as the signal turns green, the rider can be seen accelerating quickly to catch up with the police officer. Luckily, he found out that the cop got stuck in the traffic and after that, the cop started talking on the phone through the headphones. Finally, when the rider asks him “Where is your helmet?” in Marathi to the cop can be heard asking “What?” The inspector then says what helmet and starts abusing the rider. The inspector also asks “Who are you to ask me this question?” The cop rudely asks the biker to go away from the spot and also tells him that the biker has no right to ask him such questions as he is not a police officer. When the rider asks about breaking the traffic signal, the cop says that he can break more signals and will also hit people on the way. The policeman also says “I am flying” to the rider. After the cop abuses the rider, he goes away from the spot without saying anything further.

It should be noted that in the past many civilian motorists have confronted the cops for not wearing helmets and breaking other traffic rules. With the impact of social media, such things become viral quite quickly nowadays and we are sure that the state government or the police force will take action against the cop in the coming days.

Royal Enfield upgrading the suspension of Interceptor & Continental GT650

The all-new Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT650 have both become super hits in the Indian markets and many international markets. Both the bikes are high in demand and have a long waiting period on them. There are thousands of Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 on the roads and Royal Enfield has started offering suspension replacement to the Interceptor and Continental GT free of cost.

Roya Enfield Int And Cont

Royal Enfield has not issued any such recall or service calls to the customers but it seems like only the first lot of the motorcycles are getting the upgrade. The new rear suspension unit now gets a rubber stopper that the bottom, which was earlier missing from the suspension unit. This rubber stopper, which is highlighted in yellow colour in the new suspension ensures that the suspension does not bottom out. The rubber stopper takes all the impact when the rear wheel hits ditches or potholes. Since the metal parts of the suspension do not hit each other, it does not wear out fast and also saves the suspension from damage.

It seems that it is not a critical part and the motorcycles from the first lot that are reaching the service centres for regular service are getting the upgrade free of cost. It is not mentioned how much time does it take for the whole process. However, Royal Enfield has not officially informed the customers about the replacement. From the second lot onwards, Royal Enfield has started offering the yellow rubber stopper from the factory itself.

Royal Enfield remains the best-selling brand in the Indian market above 350cc segment. The Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Continental GT 650 are further adding on to the numbers of the brand as both of them have massive popularity in the market. The 650 Twins are also on sale in the international markets like USA, UK and Australia. Since both of them are the most affordable twin-cylinder-powered by bikes in India and the design is reminiscent of expensive Triumph bikes, the customers are quite attracted towards them.

Both the bikes have collectively sold more than 5,000 units in the market in the Indian market. The Royal Enfield Interceptor is priced at Rs 2.49 lakh, which makes it the most affordable twin-cylinder bike in India. Both bikes share the same engine and platform. The 649cc, air-cooled + oil-cooled engine produces a maximum power of 47 Bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque. It gets a slipper-clutch system with 6-speed manual transmission. The Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 also offer standard dual-channel ABS.

It is quite possible that the number of bikes affected by the suspension upgrade work is quite low and Royal Enfield will not intimidate the owners as it is a minor upgrade. Also, there is a no online process to check if the motorcycle is affected and needs the upgrade.

Yamaha R15 vs MT-15 vs Bajaj NS200 vs KTM Duke 125 vs TVS Apache RTR200 4V: Who wins this MEGA drag faceoff?

$

0

There are a number of performance-oriented bikes in the market right that have an ex-showroom cost of around Rs. 1.5 lakhs. This includes the likes of the Yamaha R15 V3, Yamaha MT-15, KTM 200 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 2004V and lastly the KTM 125 Duke among others. All these bikes are known to be great performers and each offers something unique, be it value for money factor, top speed, acceleration and even fuel economy. However, which of these bikes is the ultimate drag champion? For the same, take a look at the video below by BRS Shoaib which shows all these bikes in one mega drag race.

The drag race is conducted in three rounds. The bikes here have a lot of differences but are focused on performance and have prices that range from around Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.4 lakhs. The R15, MT-15, and the 125 Duke get fuel injection while the other two (Pulsar and Apache) are carburetted motorcycles. Let’s now take a look at the results and see which bike won.

First round

The round begins with the TVS Apache RTR 2004V taking the lead followed by the Yamaha duo. The Pulsar NS200 and the KTM 125 Duke both have a pretty lame start which means that lost the race at the start line only. For the same, the result for this round is not shown and the video switches to helmet camera view for the next round.

Second round

This round starts with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V taking the lead again. The bike maintains the lead till around a speed of 10 km/h after which it is overtaken by the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the Yamaha R15 V3. The Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 then carries on at a good pace and wins this round.

Third round

In this round, the riders switch places for a fair race. This time, the R15 takes the lead and maintains that till a speed of 100 km/h. It is followed by the Pulsar NS 200 and the Apache 200 4V closely. The Pulsar overtakes the R15 by the time it reaches 100 km/h and thus remains the winner of this round too.

Results

Since the first round is not being counted here, the winner in the other two rounds is the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. It is the most powerful bike of the lot but also the heaviest which is the reason why it stayed behind initially but got back at the top end.

The results here depend on various factors like rider’s expertise, rider weight and launch time among others. Also, the bikes used here might be modified so the result here just gives an idea of how these bikes would perform but it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
