Here is India’s first used 2019 Honda Civic sedan. This car features Maharashtra (MH) plates, and has run just 1,245 Kms. It’s the ZX CVT Petrol variant – in other words the petrol top-end trim. It’s priced at Rs. 22 lakhs, which is over Rs. 3 lakhs cheaper than the brand new car (Priced at Rs. 25.13 lakhs on-road Mumbai). The car was purchased in April 2019, and there’s valid insurance upto April 2022. Now, that’s another solid saving there. It also gets a 5 year extended warranty that is also transferable to the new owner. An electric sunroof comes standard, along with all the premium features that the top-end ZX trim gets. This car is a great buy for those looking at a nearly-new Civic with an effective discount of over Rs. 3 lakhs. Besides, this car is meant for those who don’t want to skip the queue and dump the waiting period that a new car comes saddled with. Contact STIClassifieds for more details.

2019 Honda Civic Used 1

The Honda Civic was launched earlier this year, and the car is selling like hot cakes. The Civic is the best selling car in the D-Segment sedan segment, ahead of the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia. Demand is high and the waiting period runs to many months. The Civic is sold with petrol and diesel engines but almost 9 out of 10 buyers have been opting for the silky smoothness of the petrol over the higher fuel efficiency of the diesel.

It also helps that the petrol engine gets a CVT automatic gearbox as standard across all variants while the diesel engined variants get a 6 speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine of the Civic is a 1.8 liter-4 cylinder i-VTEC unit, of which millions have been sold globally. This bullet proof reliable petrol engine makes 138 Bhp of peak power and 174 Nm of peak torque, and is known for its smoothness. It’s paired to a CVT automatic gearbox in the latest Civic.

2019 Honda Civic Used 2

Coming to the diesel engine, it’s a turbocharged 1.6 liter all-aluminium, 4 cylinder unit that Honda calls EarthDreams. This engine is known best for its fuel efficiency, and the Civic Diesel manages a stunning 26 Kmpl. The diesel engine puts out 118 Bhp of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque, and is paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard.

2019 Honda Civic Used 3

The diesel engine is manufactured in India, at Honda’s Tapukara factory in Rajasthan, and is also offered on the CR-V SUV. While the Japanese automaker offers a 9 speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the CR-V diesel sold in India, this transmission option is yet to made available to the Civic for reasons best known to Honda. The diesel engine’s top-end ZX variant is pricier than the petrol, and sells for a whopping Rs. 26.87 lakhs on-road Mumbai.

Maruti Brezza is India’s best selling SUV: Hyundai Venue is a close second!

The Maruti Brezza lost the title of India’s best selling SUV to the Hyundai Creta in May 2019 but June 2019 has seen the sub-4 meter SUV from Maruti take back the lead. Maruti dispatched 8,871 units of the Vitara Brezza to dealer stockyards across India in June 2019, while Hyundai could manage only 8,334 units of the Creta. Ths numbers will be quite worrying for Maruti given the fact that the Hyundai Venue has clocked 8,763 units in June 2019, and is nipping on the heels of the Brezza. At this rate, the Venue could outsell the Brezza as it comes with both petrol and diesel engines compared to the diesel-only Brezza. Also, sales of the Brezza have fallen by a full 17 % when compared to June 2018, when the SUV clocked a healthy 10,713 units. We expect to see bigger discounts on the Brezza Diesel during this year’s festive season, and also the much-needed petrol engined variants.

Brezza

According to reports on various car websites, the petrol powered version of the Maruti Brezza is all set for launch in India on the 20th of August 2019. To make up for lost time, the Maruti Brezza is likely to be offered with a mild hybrid powertrain as well. The Brezza Petrol Mild Hybrid will borrow its powertrain from the likes of the Maruti Ciaz and Ertiga.

The engine in question is the 1.5 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated K-Series unit with 104 Bhp of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque. On the Ciaz and Ertiga, the petrol mild hybrid is offered with 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The same is likely to be carried over on the Brezza Petrol as well. Considering the fact that the competition offers petrol and petrol automatic options, Maruti will not want to leave out any gaps in the Brezza’s variant line up. Currently, the Maruti Brezza is offered with a 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine with 89 Bhp-200 Nm on tap. 5 speed manual and AMT options are offered with this engine.

Hyundai Venue Suv Gallery Big Pc 1120x600 7

In contrast, the Hyundai Venue is offered with no less than 3 engine options: a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder VTVT naturally aspirated petrol with 82 Bhp-114 Nm, a 1.4 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 89 Bhp-220 Nm and a 1 liter-3 cylinder turbo petrol engine with 120 Bhp-170 Nm. The petrol engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox while the turbo petrol gets 6 speed manual and 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearboxes. The diesel engine is a manual-only affair, with a 6 speed gearbox. Prices of the Hyundai Venue start from just Rs. 6.5 lakhs for the base petrol E trim, and this is perhaps what’s driving buyers in huge numbers to Hyundai showrooms across India.

Cartoq True Price Featured

By deploying the Cartoq TRUE PRICE, we help you identify the best deals. The best deals are those where listed price is lower than the TRUE PRICE. So, we scan through the car listings across major used car sites, compute their TRUE PRICE, and present the best deals for you.

The shortlist for this article was based on the analysis we ran on July 6, 2019; so, by the time you read this article, there is a good chance that the specific car may no longer be available.

However, this list still provides plenty of useful pointers even if certain specific cars have already been sold out.
Ford puts all other manufacturers to the sword in this compilation, which means:
• Ford strikes the right package of price and power- the two most important factors in the SUV market.
• The Ford EcoSport is the match winner in this segment, and all its variants provide ample food for thought for potential buyers.

Without further ado, let’s check out our top recommendations.

Recommendation #1: Ford EcoSport TITANIUM 1.0 ECOBOOST

Ford Ecosport Used 26

Year: 2015 / Mileage: 21,896 / List Price: Rs. 500,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs. 914,000

Why buy: Currently with its first owner, this red compact SUV runs on petrol and is an ace choice in this category. Not only is it fresh with a paltry distance covered on the odometer, but it also comes at a balanced price, which could be a bargain considering the powerful impact this car is bound to have.

Recommendation #2: Ford EcoSport 1.5 Ti VCT MT Titanium

Ford Ecosport Used 27

Year: 2014 / Mileage: 47,000 / List Price: Rs. 585,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs. 956,000

Why buy: This first owner compact SUV may have seen a fair bit of road-time, but it is still in impeccable condition, and available in a gorgeous diamond white colour. Spacious, comfortable and efficient, this petrol-powered car may come at a hefty price, but is worth the investment given its durability.

Recommendation #3: Ford EcoSport Trend 1.5L Ti-VCT

Ford Ecosport Used 25

Year: 2014 / Mileage: 11,000 / List Price: Rs. 588,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs. 857,274

Why buy: Residing with its first owner, this sparkling blue SUV is a feasible option, especially when you consider that it has barely exercised the odometer. Also running on petrol, this may be five years old, but should have enough strength and consistency to offer a number of smooth years on the road.

Buy it here

Recommendation #4: Ford EcoSport Trend 1.5L Ti-VCT

Ford Ecosport Used 24

Year: 2014 / Mileage: 17,000 / List Price: Rs. 585,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs. 857,274

Why buy: Another petrol SUV that is currently with its first owner, this car continues the trend of reasonably aged vehicles that have hardly been driven in this category. It has a competitive price vis-a-vis the other options, but it is its smart looks that may just be a deal clincher for buyers not shy of stretching their budget limits.

Buy it here

Recommendation #5: Ford EcoSport 1.5 DV5 MT Trend

Ford Ecosport Used 23

Year: 2014 / Mileage: 45,000 / List Price: Rs. 578,200 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs. 861,000

Why buy: On the surface this seems like an outlier on this list, with a high-end price and considerable mileage. But this first owner vehicle running on diesel and sporting a stylish white colour is not completely out of contention. A fantastic on road track record and efficient fuel service, combined with an imposing appearance, make it a worthwhile consideration, if nothing else.

Buy it here

In Summary:

There may not be a lot of variety in terms of features on this list, but each of these five options represents a sensible choice, with assured quality and showstopping looks. The Mumbai SUV market is bound to be competitive, and with this collection of cars, you will have to decide how you balance price and efficiency with comfort and appearance.

Rs. 10,000 parking fines go live in India: 80 cars & bikes FINED!

$

Just a day after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Traffic Police announced new fines for wrong/illegal parking, a total of 80 vehicles were towed in Mumbai with about Rs. 1.80 lakhs in fines from violators. According to a report by the Times of India, these 80 vehicles include 63 cars, 14 two-wheelers, and 3 auto-rickshaws. To let you know, the maximum fine for a parking offence in the city is now Rs. 23,000 in case of heavy vehicles, Rs. 15,100 for light motor vehicles, Rs. 12,200 for three-wheelers and Rs. 8,300 for two-wheelers. Sunday was the first day of action against parking violators after the new rule was implemented a day before.

Mumbai Parking Fines Featured

A majority of the 80 vehicles seized by the civic officials are still in BMC’s possession as these owners have not yet paid the fine. For countering this condition, the rule also contains a provision that if the fine is not paid soon enough, late fee, as per the new penalty rates, will be applicable on their fine amount. The late fee applicable on four-wheelers is Rs. 170 per day while late fee on bikes is Rs. 110. To let you know, the BMC had listed 26 public parking lots (PPL) in the city and marked out no-parking zones within a 500m radius of them. Anyone found parking in these no-parking zones is to be fined heavily which is the same that has happened now. The image below shows the fine receipt issued to the owner of a vehicle that was towed away after it was found in violation of the new rule.

Fine

Among the vehicles that were busted, the highest fine was issued to a Kalina resident who runs a tourist car agency. He had to pay a total of Rs. 40,000 to get four of his seized vehicles released. Around 10 cars were parked out of his residence and while BMC staffers managed to tow four of them, the rest 6 were driven to safety by his staff. According to the officials involved in the activity, the effect of this new rule has already started to show up as more vehicles were seen in designated parking areas this Sunday as compared to other Sundays. A total of nine vehicles have to pay Rs. 10,000 fine which makes for half of the Rs. 1.80 lakh total fine collected.

The whole operation is being performed quite professionally, which is evident by the fact that the officials were equipped with cameras and recorded every vehicle as it was being towed to avoid false harassment complaint later. BMC has even tied up with ex-servicemen and professional security guards to implement these fines major resistance from violators are expected initially. However, the first day didn’t show up with any such resistance as it was Sunday but the officials are expecting more action in the following weekdays.

The decision to levy such huge charges for wrong parking has been taken to promote the use of specified parking spaces which in turn will result in decongestion on roads. It focuses on vehicles parked illegally within 500m of PPLs so that people park the cars in the parking out of the fear of such huge fines if nothing else. The civic body has put up banners with a ‘no parking sign’ along with Rs. 10,000 fine warning. Barricades with ‘No Parking’ sign have also been put up at several spots.

2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6 SPIED with LED headlamps

The performance Apache series from TVS is one of the most popular bikes in the market. Since the BS6 norms will be implemented in the Indian market sometime next year, TVS is working on an all-new model of the Apache 200 4V. The first picture of the all-new BS6 compliant Apache 200 4V has been spotted on the roads.

Tvs Apache 1

This is the first time the new bike has been spotted and from the picture, it seems that the new Apache will come with a host of updates. Motor Vikatan spotted the upcoming Apache for the first time. The most significant update that can be spotted on the bike is the full LED headlamp system. Since Always-Headlamp-On (AHO) feature is mandatory on all the two-wheelers in the Indian market, the bike seems to be on its low-beam. The upper part of the headlamp is likely to be a high beam. It gets two separate compartments for the low beam and the high beam but noticeably, there is no DRL in the bike.

Other details are not known yet but TVS is likely to introduce some new features in the Apache 200 4V. The bike’s engine frame is expected to be the same but the shape of the fuel tank can be tweaked to add a fresh look to the bike. It seems like the shape of the headlamp is similar to the current bike. The TVS Apache 200 4V looks very aggressive with the current headlamp set-up and it will continue to offer the same.

TVS will upgrade the current engine to the emission compliant BS6 norms. However, the power and torque figures are expected to remain the same. Currently, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V comes powered by a 197.7cc, single-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 20.2 Bhp and 18.1 Nm of peak torque. The bike gets a 5-speed transmission. The Apache 200 4V takes on the likes of Bajaj Pulsar 200NS in the Indian market.

Other details are not known yet. It should be noted that for the first time, TVS offered a Bluetooth-connected instrument cluster with the launch of the NTorq in the Indian market. With the launch of the new 200 4V, TVS may introduce a similar feature in the instrument console too. The NTorq offers a fully-digital instrument cluster that can be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth. The instrument cluster then notifies the rider about the upcoming turns and also tells about calls and text messages. A similar system can also be seen in the recently launched Hero XPulse.

TVS may also update the body graphics of the upcoming Apache 200 4V and add new colour options to make it look fresh in the market. Currently, the Apache is available with both Fuel Injected and Carbureted versions. It is not known if both the versions will be upgraded to become BS6 compliant.

Toyota launched its Glanza premium hatchback last month to take on the likes of the Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Balneo and the Hyundai Elite i20. It is a completely rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Balneo and is essentially the same car, save for some little changes in the prices, warranty and badging. Prices of the Toyota Glanza start at Rs. 7,21,990 for the base G MT variant while the top V CVT variant is priced at Rs. 8,90,200. Toyota also offers numerous accessories and customization options for the buyers who like a bit of personalized style on their cars. The video below by Denz World shows a similar Toyota Glanza which has been customized in accordance with its buyer’s wish.

The Glanza seen in this video features a dual-tone paint job which enhances its appearance. However, the changes are not very dramatic and only include a repainted roof, ORVMs, and foglamp housings, all painted in a shade of cherry red. This customization seems to have been done at the dealership level and one can even customize their Glanza as per their choice.

The company offers a myriad of accessories and themes to choose between for the Glanza. The accessories that are available for the Glanza range from chrome bumper protectors and black body mouldings to seat cushions and custom floor mats. There are whole customization kits on offer too along with interiors theme customizations.

Glanza Customized

Talking about the car the Toyota Glanza, the premium hatchback comes with two petrol engines, both of which are 1.2-litre petrol units from Maruti Suzuki. The 1.2-litre petrol churns out 82 Bhp of power along with 112 Nm of torque. The second engine option is the 1.2-litre, K12C DualJet engine with a mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 89 Bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. This engine, however, is only available on the G trim variants. Both the engines get a 5-speed manual transmission with the non-hybrid engine getting a CVT box too. As for the fuel efficiency figures, the V MT delivers 21.01 km/l, the G MT (Hybrid) variant delivers 23.87 km/l and the G CVT/V CVT variants deliver 19.56 km/l.

To let you know, the Glanza is based on the facelifted model of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback that was launched back in January this year. The Glanza is manufactured by Maruti Suzuki itself which then is brought at Toyota’s address. Toyota launched the Glanza to increase its presence in the Indian market as its sub-Rs. 10 lakh models haven’t been a success. Apart from the Glanza, Toyota will also be launching the rebadged version of the Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and the Ciaz later on. The brand is also planning to discontinue the Corolla Altis and the Yaris sedan from India as it wants to now focus on Indian specific products.

India-made Tata Hexa SUVs to be used by the Bangladesh Army soon!

The Indian Army has been using Tata vehicles for a long time and the latest Tata vehicle sanctioned for Army usage was the Tata Safari. Now, Tata is all set to supply vehicles to the Bangladesh Army as well which comes across as a significant feat. The manufacturer has bagged an order to supply 200 SUVs to the Bangladesh Army. However, unlike the Indian Army which used the Tata Safari, our neighbours will be getting 200 units of Hexa 4×4 model. Tata announced on Monday regarding the same and said that it has won this prestigious order from Bangladesh Army after rigorous testing of the product for months.

Tata Hexa Xm+

According to the company, the Hexa stood strong to meet all the requirements and specifications of the Bangladesh Army. Now Army vehicles require to clear some of the most demanding requirements and the fact that the Hexa has been selected speaks volumes about the vehicle. The statement issued by the manufacturer read:

“This order has been won against the other competitive brand SUVs and this has been the first key order from the Bangladesh Army. The superior performance of the Tata Hexa, better comfort features and widely available service and spares in Bangladesh made it the most preferred brand for the army,”

To let you know, Tata Motors is no stranger to Bangladesh. The manufacturer has been selling passenger vehicles in the country since 2012 with models like the Tata Indigo, Tata Tiago and Tata Nexon in its lineup. This, in a way, could have helped the company bag the deal since widespread network along with the availability of spare parts is a plus point on Tata’s side. The Tata Hexa, for now, is not available for purchase for private customers in Bangladesh. Tata will probably make the 200 units of the Hexa especially for the armed forces and could be somewhat different from the regular Hexa sold in India. It will wear dark olive colours soon but the final vehicles could sport a different shade too.

Talking about the Hexa, the AWD system it comes equipped with is made by Borg and Warner which is one of the world’s leading auto OEM manufacturer.  The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system on the Hexa is controlled electronically and comes with torque-on-demand feature. As for the engine, the Hexa is powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged Varicor 400 engine that comes in two states of tunes. The less powerful state of tune has an output of 148 Bhp power along with 320 Nm of torque. It only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the higher state of tune variants have a maximum power output of 156 Bhp along with 400 Nm of torque. In this engine state, Tata offers a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox option to choose from.

Hyundai launched the Venue in May this year and the sub-4 meter SUV is already a big hit in the market. It has turned out to be the second best seller in the segment which has got its competitors worried. The world debut of the Hyundai Venue happened at the New York International Auto Show in April 2019 but it was launched here first in May 2019. Now, Hyundai is preparing to launch the Venue in the US and for the same, has released a TVC which shows a dramatic sequence leading to the Venue’s first interaction with the US soil.

In the TVC, we see a Hyundai Venue being flown inside a C-130 transport aircraft high up in the sky, before being dropped on a tarmac at California’s Inyokern Airport, where it is greeted by other Hyundai SUVs. The other Hyundai SUVs in this video, in fact, give a good look at Hyundai’s US model lineup of crossovers and SUVs. The vehicles in this TVC, apart from the Venue, are  – Kona, Santa Fe, Nexo, Tucson and Palisade. To let you know, the US-spec Hyundai Venue is larger in size as well as better equipped than the Indian-spec model.

Hyundai Venue Us Tvc D

The US-spec Venue is 43mm longer than its Indian counterpart apart from being taller and having a longer wheelbase. The exterior design is also slightly different which includes slightly different bumpers among other subtle bits. The cabin space is more or less the same but the boot space of the US-spec version is substantially larger. The India-spec SUV had been shortened to be less than 4 meters in length in order to enjoy the tax benefits. Further, the US-spec model rides on larger 17-inch wheels compared to the 16-inch rims we have in India. In terms of interiors, the Indian-spec Venue only gets an all-black, single-tone interior while the US version gets a dual-tone black-and-beige interior. The steering wheel on the India-spec model gets steel finished lower part while the US version gets a black finish.

Hyundai Venue Us Tvc

The US-spec model also boasts of a better set of features. It comes with drive modes, heated seats and ORVMs, forward autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning, driver attention warning, and rear cross-traffic warning. The BlueLink in the US variant also gets Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrated from the factory. The Indian-spec Venue comes with three engine options along with three gearbox options. However, the US version comes with one engine and two gearbox options. The 1.6-litre Gamma MPI makes 121 PS of power and 153 Nm of torque and it comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT box. However, the overall asking price of the Venue we get here is much less than the US-spec Venue which is the reason for all these cuts.

Hyundai launched the Venue sub-4 meter SUV back in May this year and now the South Korean manufacturer has dropped another SUV-crossover in the Indian market. This time though, it is the fully-electric Kona SUV which has been a long-anticipated vehicle from Hyundai. Launched in an event at the Buddh International Circuit, the Hyundai Kona is offered in a single variant that has a price tag of Rs. 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 25.50 lakh for dual-tone paint version. It will be initially brought in via the CBU route and is Hyundai’s first electric car in India along with being the first fully electric SUV to be launched here.

Kona Ev 2

Design-wise, the Hyundai Kona looks a bit unconventional yet stylish. The lack of a typical air intake grille at the front is one of the major elements that distinguish the Kona from the herd of other fossil fuel burning SUVs. The SUV features a bi-functional LED headlight setup with auto levelling function and cornering lamps. Hyundai also manufacturers a regular internal combustion engine-powered version of the Kona EV upon which the EV is based on.

The Kona EV gets stylish 17-inch multispoke alloy wheels along with black side body cladding that gives a tough look to the whole car and suggests that it is an SUV. The shoulder line carries a sharp crease that starts from the front door and flows to the tail lamps. The tail lamps also get a split design just like the headlamps.

Being a Hyundai car, the Kona is filled to the brim with features. The interiors are all draped in black and the leather upholstery adds to the premium feel inside the cabin. The Kona EV comes with several features that include 10-way powered driver seat, heated+ventilated rear seats, a 17.77 cm touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation, 8-speaker KRELL premium audio system with a subwoofer, wireless charging, tilt and telescopic steering adjust, cruise control, smart electric sunroof, drive mode selector and electric parking brake among others.

Kona Ev

Safety features on this SUV include six airbags, anti-lock brake system, blind-spot detection, hill-start assist, reverse camera, impact and speed sensing door lock, disc brakes on all wheels, real-time traffic alert, TPMS, virtual engine sound and autonomous emergency braking among others.

Coming to the power source of the Kona EV, this SUV gets the smaller 39.2 kWh battery pack in India. This pack produces around 135 Bhp of power and 335 Nm of peak torque along with delivering an ARAI certified all-electric range of 452 km in a single charge. The battery can be fully charged from 0% in about 6 hours 10 minutes with regular AC charging. With a 50kW DC fast charger, the SUV can be charged from 0% to 80% in approximately 57 minutes. The Kona can do the 0-100 km/h run in just 9.3 seconds which is pretty decent if not fast.

Kona Ev

Hyundai will provide two chargers with the Kona EV, a portable wall charger and an AC wall box charger. The portable charger can be plugged in any 3 pin 15 A socket and gives a range of 50 km/h under three hours of charging while the AC wall box charger can do the same within an hour. Hyundai will also provide charging solutions support to the buyers which includes installation along with any power supply upgradations required. at the buyer’s home. The company is working on providing fast-charging infrastructure in select cities. All Hyundai dealerships which will sell EVs will have a 7.2 kW AC charger to cater to the needs of the customer.

Hyundai has set an initial sales target close to 1000 units of the Kona EV in the Indian market for the first year. Moreover, the company will initially offer the electric SUV in select cities which will include the top-10 metros. As for the competition, there is none in sight currently. However, Nissan will most probably launch the Leaf EV in the coming time which will also be priced around the same price range. Moreover, the MG e-ZS EV will be launched before the end of this year and though it will have a starting price of under Rs. 10 lakh, the top-end variant of the SUV could provide some competition to the Kona.

Jeep, the iconic American SUV brand entered the Indian market after years of delay. However, the brand truly took off in India with the launch of the Compass SUV.  The mid-size SUV is currently the best-selling model from the FCA brand in India. However, the competition in the segment is becoming very competitive, especially with the launch of all-new cars like the MG Hector, Tata Harrier and soon-to-be-launched Kia Seltos. Jeep is currently working on a seven-seater version of the Compass, which is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming times.

Jeep Compass 7 Seater

Jeep has officially confirmed that they will launch the seven-seater version of the Compass in the Indian market in the coming times. The three-row SUV will be based on the Jeep Compass platform and is likely to look like an elongated version of the Compass. Shoeb Kalania has made a rendering image of the upcoming seven-seater Jeep Compass for IAB.

It should be noted that Jeep sells a China-specific Grand Commander SUV. However, the Indian version is expected to be quite different. The all-new 7-seater Jeep SUV will be launched in 2020-2021 and will be positioned against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, Honda CR-V and the Mahindra Alturas. While Jeep is yet to confirm the name of the upcoming vehicle, Jeep may name it Commander Compass.

It should be noted that the all-new SUV will be based on the all-new Jeep Compass, which will be launched in the Indian market next year. Soon after the launch of the all-new Compass, the 7-seater will be launched in the market. The seven-seater vehicles are quite popular in India and the new version of the Compass will definitely push the sales of the brand.

Details like the engine and features are not known yet. Everyone’s failing driving tests in Delhi: What’s going on?

$
0
0

Getting a driving license in India used to be one of the easiest tasks in the past. Applicants who even did not know how to drive could receive a driving license in the past after bribing the test invigilator who took the test. However, driving tests in the national capital of the country – Delhi has become automatic. The first such automatic driving test centre was opened in Mayur Vihar Phase-I earlier this year while other test centres in Burari and Sarjmal Vihar have also become operational. Since these centres are completely automatic, Delhites are having a tough time to pass the new automatic tests.

As per a report on HT, Delhi citizen applying for the driving license have seen a sharp rise in the number of the applicant failing in the test. The test is conducted before issuing the permanent driving license. The report adds that at least 48.9% of the applicants have failed at the Mayur Vihar, Surajmal Vihar and Buraru test centres where the automatic testing was introduced in March. Before the introduction of these automatic tests, only 16.2% of the applicants failed to get a permanent driving license.

The new automated centres are maintained by Maruti Suzuki – the largest car manufacturer in India. The tests done here are completely computerised and the centres use an array of sensors and high-resolution cameras to track the applicants. There are 24 various parameters that test the applicants based on the readings from the sensors and the cameras. This ensures a fair test with dependable results every time an applicant gives a test.

Also, the test tracks have different patterns that ensure that a failed applicant does not get the same track the next time he or she goes for the test. There are 10 different track patterns and the applicants who drive or ride inside the track without going outside the marked lines clear the test. There is a time limit to each of the tests and the applicants have to finish the test within the time.

Driving Test

The automatic testing ensures that every applicant is tested for 20 essential driving skills that are listed by Central Motor Vehicles Rules as explained in the video by Motown India. The test centres are designed in a way that no one can cheat or send a professional driver to attend the test instead. The test centres also record the biometrics and then issue unique RFID tags that can be used to enter the test tracks. Some of the skills that are tested by the test tracks are Reverse S, Formation 8, Overtake, Traffic Junction, Parallel Parking and Gradient driving. Failing the test requires applicants to go back to their driving schools and sharpen their skills before they can re-apply for the test.

Notably, the Burari test centre, which became operational on June 26 saw nearly 73% of the applicants failing. The Mayur Vihar test centre saw a failure rate of 52% till June 30. In the coming times, all the manual testing centres in Delhi will be converted into similar automatic centres, which will ensure a common result from all the centres across Delhi.

Hyundai Kona EV gets its first TVC in India

$

0

Hyundai launched the much-awaited all-new Kona EV in the Indian market today. The all-new electric SUV has become the most affordable electric SUV in the Indian market and is priced at Rs 25.3 lakh for the base variant and Rs 25.5 lakh, ex-showroom for the dual-tone version. Since the Indian government announced that the registration tax will not be charged on the electric vehicles, we may get to see a competitive on-road price of the Kona in the Indian market. Hyundai has released the first TVC of the all-electric EV for the Indian market.

The TVC highlights the 452 km driving range of the Kona Electric while also talking about its acceleration. Hyundai claims that the Kona can do 0-100 km/h in just 9.7 seconds. The Kona EV will come with 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty. Also, since the consumers worry a lot about the batteries and cost of replacing them, Hyundai is offering a massive 8-year warranty on the set of lithium-ion batteries. The 8-year warranty is range limited and will be applicable until the car reaches 1.6 lakh km only.

The Kona EV available in the Indian market is only available in a single variant whereas internationally, there are two variants of the Kona. The Kona EV looks quite unorthodox, especially because of lack of a front grille. Since it is an EV, the vehicle does not require air to burn any fuel, which is why there is no front grille. The charging port is located at the front of the SUV though.

The Kona comes loaded with features and gets the latest Hyundai design. It gets sleek LED DRL placed on either side of the grille while the main headlamp cluster is positioned below in the bumper. It gets bi-functional LED headlamps with auto-levelling function. Other features include 17-inch multispoke alloy wheels and thick cladding all around. The Kona Electric gets a floating-type 8-inch infotainment system on the inside and also offers Smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, ventilated seats, heads-up display, ABS and EBD as well. The cabin is quite plush and gets leather seats, digital instrument cluster, bi-functional LED lamps, electric sunroof, 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat, electric parking brake and more such features. Hyundai also offers a virtual engine sound that alerts the pedestrians and other motorists on the roads.

Hyundai Kona Ev

Coming to the powerhouse, the Indian version of the Kona is powered by a 39.2 kWh battery that can push the vehicle to a maximum range of 452 km on a full charge. The battery can be completely charged to full in seven to eight hours using standard charging. While fast charging can take the battery level to 80% in just 54 minutes. All the Hyundai Kona buyers will get a portable charger and an AC wall box charger. The motor generates a maximum of 100 kW or 131 Bhp of peak power. The motor also generates a maximum of 395 Nm.

Renault Triber compact MPV to be launched next month

$
0
0

Renault India has just launched the facelifted Duster SUV, and the French automaker’s next big launch will happen in August 2019, when the Triber compact MPV will be launched, says an ACI report. First showcased last month in India, the Triber will be a global low cost MPV that will be sold in emerging markets of the world. Based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform, the Triber will be projected as a low cost alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, one of India’s best selling MPVs. Significantly smaller than the Ertiga, the Renault Triber ducks under the 4 meters length mark for excise duty benefits, and should be seen as Renault’s modern take on the Datsun Go+ station wagon. The Triber looks a lot more contemporary thanks to its butch styling, and will be targeted at younger car buyers.

Triber 20

The Triber borrows the 1 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Kwid. This motor makes 72 Bhp-96 Nm on the Triber, and the slightly higher outputs are meant to handle the extra weight of the compact MPV when compared to that of the Kwid. A five speed manual gearbox will be retained, with an AMT option thrown in. The Triber will be a front wheel driven MPV, and will have innovative seating layouts that seek to maximize the versatility of the vehicle.

The compact MPV will be sold as a five seater with customers having the option of purchasing an extra row of seats from dealerships to make it a 6/7 seater. Even the stock 5 seat layout of the Triber will offer multiple configurations to customers, making the MPV really live up to its expanded form: Multi Purpose Vehicle.

Triber 13

As for modern touches in the inside of the car, the cabin will get a fresh look that gives the Triber a distinct appeal and ample differentiation from the Kwid. A touchscreen infotainment unit – Renault’s MediaNav – will be offered on the higher variants. The infotainment unit will pack in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and will also get steering stalk mounted controls. Twin airbags, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat belt reminders and ABS will be the standard safety features offered across most if not all variants of the new compact MPV. Expect many modern creature comforts including multiple charging sockets, power adjustable wing mirrors and height adjustable driver’s seat.  Prices are likely to start from around Rs. 5 lakhs, making the Triber an attractive, spacious alternative to budget hatchbacks.
