Tata Nexon Facelift: SPIED for the first time ahead of 2020 launch

$

The Tata Nexon has been the brand’s best selling SUV ever since it was launched a couple of years ago. With competition rising, it’s now time for the Nexon to get a mid life makeover. This is exactly what seems to be on Tata Motors’ mind as well, given the fact that the automaker has begun testing a facelifted version of the Nexon. The facelifted Tata Nexon is likely to be showcased at the 2020 Indian Auto Expo, followed by an official launch later next year.

The first spyshots of the facelifted Nexon reveal that the front end will get quite a few changes. The headlamps are likely to get reshaped and the compact SUV is expected to derive some design inspiration from big brother Harrier. Needless to say, the facelifted Nexon will be Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant, and will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

The 6 speed manual and AMT options will be carried over on both the engines, underscoring the Nexon’s unique advantage of offering both petrol and diesel engines. The SUV is also expected to gain a high performance JTP trim, like the Tiago and Tigor models. What remains to be seen though is whether Tata Motors will offer the JTP trim on the petrol or the diesel version of the SUV. As for features on the inside, the facelifted Nexon is likely to get even more stuffed.

Nexon Impact 2.0 Design
Speculative render of the Tata Nexon Facelift

Additional airbags are highly likely given the fact that the Nexon is already viewed as a safe and sturdily built vehicle. Adding more airbags will only make the SUV safer. Currently, the Nexon sold in India gets twin airbags, ABS, a tough body shell, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts and a reverse parking camera on the top-end trims. The Nexon is India’s only affordable SUV with a 5 star Global NCAP crash test rating.

The current Nexon is built at the Tata-Fiat manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon, and this is expected to be the case with the facelifted model as well. Tata Motors has also confirmed that a electric variant of the Nexon is in the works. The Tata Nexon Electric could also be launched next year as Tata Motors’ first electric SUV. The Nexon Electric is likely to have a range of over 200 Kms, and is expected to be priced Rs. 2-4 lakhs more than the petrol/diesel models. It will have a CVT automatic gearbox as standard, and will take on the Mahindra XUV300 Electric, which is also lined up for launch next year. The Nexon and XUV300 Electric SUVs are likely to be pitched mainly at city SUV buyers.

Hyundai has already begun producing the Grand i10 NIOS at its Sriperumbudur factory ahead of launch, and in the next week or so, the hatchback will be dispatched to Hyundai dealers across the country. The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS will co-exist with the 2nd generation Grand i10, which is likely to get a price cut and become a budget offering. The NIOS, on the other hand, will take on the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo hatchbacks, occupying the space that the 2nd generation Grand i10 occupied not so long ago. Prices of the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS are likely to be very competition, at similar levels to the Grand i10. Bookings for the car are already open, and deliveries are likely to start from the day of launch, which is the same day when prices and trim levels will officially be announced.

Grand I10 Nios 1

Meanwhile, this is what Mr. S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said during the Grand i10 NIOS’ roll out from the Sriperumbudur factory,

“This is a proud moment for us at Hyundai, with over 2.7 Mn Happy Customers the i10 brand (i10 and GRAND i10) has been one of the most loved hatchback in India. And today we are set to create history again with the Global First – roll out of 3rd Generation GRAND i10 NIOS, which will set new benchmarks in the hatchback segment while creating Brilliant Ownership experience for our customers.”

The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS will carry over the engines from the older Grand i10, and both the petrol and diesel engines will become Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant. The 1.2 liter Kappa petrol engine is expected to make 82 Bhp-114 Nm while the 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine is likely to output around 74 Bhp-190 Nm. Both engines will get 5 speed manual gearboxes as standard, and Hyundai is also expected to offer 5 speed AMTs with both engines.

Grand I10 Nios Interior

This will bring the Grand i10 NIOS at par with the Maruti Swift, whose latest model offers AMT options on both the petrol and diesel trims. The Grand i10 NIOS will also comply with the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) norms, and will get twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts and seat belt reminders as standard safety equipment across the range. In terms of overall dimensions, the new car is likely to get slightly larger than the older Grand i10, and will also offer trendier interiors with more features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a cooled glove box and more.

The D-Segment is getting a range of all-new vehicles. Earlier this year, Tata Motors launched the all-new Harrier while MG Motors entered the Indian market with their first-ever vehicle – the Hector. Soon, Kia will also launch the all-new Seltos in the Indian market and the car has already become quite popular in the market. In fact, the all-new Seltos has received more than 28,000 bookings before its launch on 22nd August 2019. On the other hand, the all-new MG Hector has also experienced a huge demand in the market.

Here is a video that shows the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector side-by-side. It should be noted that the MG Hector is positioned above the Kia Seltos in the Indian market. Also, Hector offers the longest body in the segment. The videos from Sekhar Reddy Goluguri show the side of the vehicle by side that shows which vehicle has a greater road presence. Since the Kia Seltos is much smaller in dimensions when compared to the MG Hector in length, the Hector towers over the Seltos in the video from the rear. However, from the front, both the vehicles seem to have a similar impact.

Both MG Hector and Kia Seltos offer a very modern look. The Kia Seltos has a length of 4,315 mm while the Hector offers a length of 4,655 mm, which is more than 300mm of length. Width of the MG Hector is also more than the Seltos. The Seltos has a width of 1,800 mm while the MG Hector has a width of 1,835mm. The MG Hector is also much higher than the Seltos. The Seltos is 1,620 mm tall while the Hector is 1,760 mm tall. The Kia Seltos has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm while the Hector offers a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. However, the ground clearance of the Kia Seltos is only 2 mm lower than the MG Hector. The Seltos offers a ground clearance of 190 mm while the Hector offers 192 mm of ground clearance.

Seltos Vs Hector Featured

Both MG Hector and Kia Seltos offer a range of features and many of these features are unique and first-in-segment. The Kia Seltos offers features like cooled seats, air purifier, Heads-Up Display, 360 Degree, Bose speaker system and more. The MG Hector, on the other hand, offers a panoramic sunroof, electric driver seat and a huge touchscreen infotainment system.

Kia will offer 2 petrol engine options and a diesel engine option while the MG Hector offers petrol and a diesel engine option. Used Volkswagen Polo GTI: Enthusiast maintained car that’s run just 10,000 Kms

Volkswagen launched the most-powerful Poli GTI in India back in 2016. Imported as Completely Built Units and with a price tag of Rs 26 lakhs, ex-showroom, the GTI came to the market in limited numbers. However, to clear the stocks, dealerships started offering a hefty discount of Rs 6 lakh on the car. Only 99 examples of the Volkswagen Polo GTI ever came to India and currently, all of them are sold in the market. Volkswagen does not plan to bring in the new Polo GTI in India, as it becomes quite expensive after the import taxes. Well, you definitely cannot get a brand-new Polo GTI in India unless you privately import it. However, you sure can get a used vehicle in the market and here is one such vehicle, which is up for sale.

Polo Gti 1

Here is a white coloured 2018 Volkswagen Polo GTI from New Delhi, which is up for sale on T-BHP Classifieds. The three-door hot hatchback is priced at Rs 19.5 lakh, which is close to the ex-showroom price of the vehicle when Volkswagen started offering discounts on it in 2017. According to the advertisement, the vehicle has done close to 10,000 km, which is an almost brand-new condition for the vehicle. The advert also mentions that the vehicle is scratch-free. The vehicle is not very old and the condition of the vehicle also remains top-notch.

Polo Gti 3

The reason for selling this vehicle mentioned by the seller is the need for a four-door vehicle. It should be noted that even though the Polo GTI is a three-door hatchback, it offers space for 5 occupants. The rear seats can be accessed by folding down the front seats of the vehicle. However, older people may find it difficult to reach the rear seats as it requires a lot of athleticism.

Polo Gti 4

The ad also mentions that the car will come with very detailed service history and since it is only a year old, the standard warranty will remain applicable to it. The white coloured GTI gets an all-black interior, which makes it look very sporty. Also, even the overall shape of the car remains similar to the Volkswagen Polo, the GTI version looks extremely premium and offers a different set of headlamps and tail lamps. Also, the three-door set-up, an aggressive front grille, GTI badging and a different set of alloy wheel distinguishes the Polo GTI from the regular version of the hatchback.

Polo Gti 2

The Volkswagen Polo GTI gets powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It churns out close to 188 Bhp and peak torque fo 250 Nm. The engine gets a 7-speed DSG transmission as standard. In the international markets, there is also a 6-speed manual transmission available with the car. Nonetheless, according to the official figures, the Polo GTI can do 0-100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 233 km/h.

The best deals are those where listed price is lower than the TRUE PRICE. So, we scan through the car listings across major used car sites, compute their TRUE PRICE, and present the best deals for you.

Tata to launch longer range version of Tigor EV

$

Tata Motors had a busy year so far and the manufacturer doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon. It is already working on the facelifted Nexon, new Altroz and Buzzard along with updating the lineup to be BSVI compliant. Now, the latest reports suggest that Tata will also bring in a more practical version of the Tigor EV that will have a longer range and will be available for private ownership as well. As of now, the Tigor EV is only offered to fleet owners and government organisations as part of the EESL tender.

Speaking to CarandBike about the upcoming long-range Tigor EV, Shailesh Chandra, President Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, Tata Motors, said,

“We wanted to bring a more relevant product for the private segment before opening it up to them because we need to give the right solution to different segments. We are planning to come out with a higher range version for the Tigor which we will be bringing out in the market very shortly. That is the time when we intend to open it to the private buyers also.”

The current model of the Tigor EV uses a 16.2 kWh battery and offers a range of 142 km on a single charge. The new version, however, is expected to offer a maximum range of 200 km on a full charge. Unlike the current model, this powerful new version will be made available for sale to all. The 16.2 kWh battery on the current Tigor EV powers a 72 volt, three-phase AC induction motor. This motor produces 40 Bhp of power at 4500 RPM and 105 Nm of peak torque available at 2500 RPM. This battery Tata takes about 90 minutes to charge up to 80 per cent via a DC 15 kW fast charger and offers a claimed range of 142 km on a single charge. However, a standard AC home/office wall socket will take six hours to reach equivalent charge. the same level.

Tata Tigor Ev

The top speed of the Tigor EV is restricted to 80 km/h but the new model which will be available for all will have a higher top speed. Recently, the prices of the Tigor EV were reduced after the government introduced new slabs on them. Therefore, the Tata Tigor EV is now priced starting at Rs. 11.58 lakh to Rs. 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Apart from the Tigor EV, Tata is also working on several other EV models including the Tiago EV, H2X EV, Nexon EV, and the Altroz EV. The Altroz EV was showcased at the Geneva motor show in March this year. It is expected to be launched in India by the first quarter of 2020 and will probably have a price tag of around Rs. 15 lakh. As of now, the only long-range EV in India is the Kona EV that has a range of 452 km/h on a full charge.

Royal Enfield Interceptor, the most-affordable parallel-twin cylinder powered motorcycle in India is becoming popular around the world. Launched in 2018, the Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Continental GT650 became the talk of the town. Both the motorcycles are made right here in India and are exported to various countries around the world including the USA and the UK. Both motorcycles have gained quite a popularity in the market. Since Royal Enfield motorcycles are the favourite of the custom motorcycle designers, there are numerous examples of the modified version of the Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Continental GT650 around the world.

Interceptor 1

Here is one modified Royal Enfield Interceptor from Thailand that has been modified by Supaluk La-ongkaew and looks extremely good. The motorcycle gets simple yet powerful modifications that make it look extremely different and make the motorcycle stand out in the crowd. The overall shape of the motorcycle remains the same.

Interceptor 2

The tank of the motorcycle remains stock, however, a custom dual-tone paint job has been done on it with black and red. There is also a union jack imprinted rubber thigh protector too. It gives a nice look to the tank while also protecting it from any scratches. It should be noted that the 650 Twins were developed in India and England.

Interceptor 8

Other changes include an aftermarket handlebar, which gets a stabiliser that is used to reduce the vibrations. The seat support has been modified slightly to go upwards in the tail area. This adds a very aggressive look to the bike. Even the seat of the bike is aftermarket. The bike also gets a black paint job on the parts of the engine and the whole crankcase. This gives an aggressive look to the motorcycle.

Interceptor 4

Also, the rims have been painted black while the spoked set-up has been retained. Further, the bike also gets aftermarket tyres, which are wider than the stock ones. At the rear, the tail lamp has been replaced with a new, small LED set-up. It adds a clean look to the bike.

Interceptor 3

At the front, the headlamp has been replaced with a new unit. It is an all-black unit that gets a grille in front. This sure adds a muscular look to the bike. Coming back the engine, it also power ignition cords in red colour. This changes the look of the motorcycle and also adds performance to the bike. The bike also gets aftermarket exhausts, which looks simple and sleek. They are custom made and look fabulous on the bike.

Interceptor 8

We are not sure if any engine changes have been done in the Interceptor. In the stock form, it produces a maximum power of 47 Bhp and 52 Nm. It gets a six-speed transmission.

Toyota Fortuner remains best-selling vehicle in the segment; Why is everyone still buying the SUV?

$
0
0

Toyota Fortuner is currently in its second-generation and just like the previous-generation model, the all-new Fortuner is selling in huge numbers. Even when the industry is facing a slowdown, the all-new Fortuner is selling well above 1,000 units and in between, the sales also reach close to 2,000 units. So what makes the Fortuner so popular? What are the real reasons that make the Toyota Fortuner best-selling vehicle in its segment years after its launch? Well, we bring you all the reasons right here.

Brand trust

Toyota came out with the Fortuner in 2009 and it became a massive hit in the segment back then. The launch of the Fortuner immediately affected the sales of the Ford Endeavour in the market, which was launched before the Fortuner in India. Toyota has launched a few mega-successful vehicles in the Indian market like the Qualis and the Innova, which has, in turn, created a massive brand image for the manufacturer. Toyota is known for offering bullet-proof vehicles that can run for lakhs of kilometres without throwing a tantrum on the owner. This is one of the biggest driving forces behind the sales of the Fortuner in India.

Hold resale value

While most vehicles from popular brands depreciate as soon as one drives them off the showroom, the Toyota brand has a different following. The base variant of the Fortuner has priced close to Rs 28 lakh, ex-showroom while the top-end version is priced close to Rs 34 lakh. Even after a couple of years, the Toyota branded vehicles retain most of their value. In a study done by CarWale last year, the resale value of the Fortuner even after three years of its sale was found to be 85%, which is massive. This is another reason that drives customers to the Fortuner over its rivals.

Affordable ownership

Toyota vehicles are known for their low maintenance. The Fortuner is no different. Globally, the Toyota brand name is popular for its low maintenance cost and the same image makes the brand popular in India. The long service intervals and low service cost of the vehicle mean that the ownership cost comes down by a big deal. Also, the Toyota Fortuner does not break down as often, which is why buyers put their trust in the vehicle.

Wide range of variants

Toyota offers a range of variants, which fits the need of everyone. Toyota offers a wide range of engine and transmission options. Also, for the petrolheads, there is an option too. Even though it is only a 4X2 version, it sure is a good option to go for. The diesel engine options are available in both 4X2 and 4X4 set-up. Also, there is an option to choose from manual and automatic transmission options. While the mall roamers go for the 4X2 options, the hardcore off-roading enthusiasts choose the 4X4 option. Whatever is the requirement, Fortuner offers it all.

Highly efficient diesel engine options

The all-new Toyota Fortuner is powered by globally acclaimed GD Series diesel engine options. The new GD series engines were launched in 2015 and received a host of updates that make it very efficient. The new GD Series engines come with the Associated ESTEC technology, which stands for Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion). It increases the overall fuel efficiency considerably and also offers seamless acceleration to the vehicle. The 2.8-litre diesel engine that powers the Fortuner is the most thermally efficient engine ever and offers an efficiency of 44 per cent. It produces a maximum power of 174.5 Bhp and peak torque of 420 Nm. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency is 15.04 km/l for the automatic version and 14.24 km/l for the manual model.

Ultra-reliable after-sales service

Toyota is known for offering bulletproof reliability and much of the credit goes to the excellent after-sales network, which covers all the major towns of the country. Toyota currently offers more than 250+ service centres in India. Also, Toyota offers a range of comprehensive extended warranty packages that make ownership for lakhs of kilometres extremely easy and trouble-free.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 soft launched in India: Check it out on video

$

0

Bajaj Auto has already begun dispatching the Pulsar 125 to dealerships across India. Visually, the motorcycle looks very similar to the Pulsar 150 and the main difference lies in the engine (which is a smaller 125cc unit) and in braking (single channel ABS replaced with a combi-braking system). Bajaj Auto is likely to price the Pulsar 125 at Rs. 65,000, which makes it cheaper than the Pulsar Classic by over Rs. 6,000. This should give the new motorcycle enough ammunition to operate in the 125cc segment, which is dominated by commuter motorcycles such as the Honda CB Shine, the Bajaj Discover and the Hero Glamour. Bajaj will be seeking to capitalize on the Pulsar brand, which has a massive following in India. The Pulsar 125 will offer buyers the best of both worlds: a sporty commuter feel in a bike that’s bigger than other 125cc offering, without compromising on the crucial mileage bit.

The Bajaj Pulsar has borrowed the 125cc, DTSi four stroke engine from the Discover 125. On the Discover, this engine makes 13.5 Bhp of peak power and 11.4 Nm of peak torque, and similar outputs have been carried over to the Pulsar 125. It’s paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox, and is a lot more powerful than other 125cc engines that power commuter bikes in India. The higher power and torque outputs should help considering the fact that the Pulsar 125 is not only larger than other 125cc offerings in the market but is also significantly heavier.

Now that the motorcycle has already begun reaching Bajaj dealerships, the launch is just days away. Bookings are already open, and deliveries will begin shortly. The bike is yet another attempt by Bajaj Auto to make the Pulsar brand more accessible. The last time this happened was with the Pulsar 150 Classic, and this led to a sharp sales spike in Pulsar sales.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Featured

The Pulsar by far has been Bajaj Auto’s most successful motorcycle brand, going from strength to strength ever since its launch in 2001. While the Pulsar began its life with 150cc and 180cc models, as a sporty premium motorcycle, in a market that had the likes of the Hero Honda CBZ and TVS Fiero. While the CBZ and Fiero have long been gone, the Pulsar has transformed itself. It’s available as commuter motorcycles: Pulsar 125 and 150 while sportier offerings include the likes of the Pulsar 180, 180F, 160 NS, the 200 NS and the 200 RS. There’s talk about Bajaj expanding the Pulsar line up to include a 250cc variant. The Pulsar 250 could be launched later this year, or sometime early next year.

Numerous Royal Enfield motorcycles caught with loud silencers; Cops SEIZE the exhausts

Noise pollution on the roads is caused by various things. While the commuters honking is a form of noise pollution, motorists using aftermarket exhausts on their vehicles also causes noise pollution and is illegal to use too. In the past, cops have specifically targetted Royal Enfield and superbikes motorcycles for using aftermarket exhausts. Currently, a similar drive is happening the national capital – Delhi where the police are catching the Royal Enfield motorcycles in large numbers for breaking the law by using aftermarket exhausts.

The video posted by Royal Soldier on YouTube shows the action taken by the police. The cops have formed teams to catch the lawbreakers and issuing challan for using illegal exhausts. Also, to ensure that the exhausts cannot be used again by the owners of the bike, the exhausts have been removed on the spot.

The video shows the police team removing the exhaust at the spot and marking them carefully to keep the record. It is not known if the motorcycles were allowed to be ridden by the owners without the exhaust. Any vehicle can create extremely loud noise if the exhaust is not installed and Royal Enfield engines produce a thump, which can be become unbearable without the exhaust. Apart from the exhausts, the cops also caught the modified motorcycles with loud aftermarket horns and pressure horns. Even the loud horns exceeding a specific noise level are illegal in India and can be booked for creating noise pollution. The cops in the video can be seen removing the horns too and marking them carefully. All the horns along with the

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS: New TVC out

$

0

Hyundai India has just begun producing the 3rd generation i10 from its Sriperumbudur factory, off Chennai. Called the Grand i10 NIOS, the new hatchback will co-exist with the Grand i10, which is expected to get cheaper. Even as Hyundai prepares to launch the Grand i10 NIOS in India on the 20th of August, the automaker has released a new TVC. As the TVC indicates, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is squarely aimed at younger car buyers – millenials (born after 1984). What this also indicates is that the car will be competitively priced, making it quite affordable for a vast majority of car buyers in India. We expect prices of the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS to be similar to the last-generation Grand i10. The new car will rival the likes of the Maruti Swift and the Ford Figo in the B-Segment hatchback space. Bookings are already open and deliveries will commence from the day of launch.

While the Grand i10 NIOS looks different from the Grand i10 thanks to fresh styling and the new front grille that’s now common on newer Hyundai cars, it shares its platform the old Grand i10. What this means is, it’ll continue to operate with the Grand i10’s 1.2 liter petrol and diesel engines. Both engines are likely to be BS6 (Bharat Stage 6 ) emission norms compliant right from launch.

While the BS4 versions of the 1.2 liter petrol and turbo diesel engines make 82 Bhp-114 Nm and 74 Bhp-190 Nm, exact outputs of the BS6 engines will be revealed shortly. What we do know is that these engines will continue to operate with 5 speed manual gearboxes, and 5 speed automated manual options are also likely to be offered. The Grand i10 NIOS is all set to become the second Hyundai car to get an AMT option after the Santro, which was launched last year. Hyundai calls its AMTs ‘Smart Auto’.

Hyundai Grand I10 Nios Tvc Featured

The Grand i10 NIOS will be the last major launch from Hyundai in 2019. The car’s launch comes at the commencement of India’s festive season, and is meant to bring in big numbers for Hyundai. Hyundai, like most other car makers in India, has been hit by a sales slowdown. However, the launch of the Santro and Venue, and their corresponding successes, has placed Hyundai in a much better position than most other automakers including industry leader Maruti Suzuki. The South Korean automaker’s sales slowdown hasn’t been as intense as its rivals. The launch of the Grand i10 NIOS could further put pressure on the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Making the older Grand i10 cheaper and repositioning it lower in the segment is also expected to bring in decent numbers. Overall, Hyundai seems to be planning a two pronged attack at the Maruti Swift, and could just push down the Swift to second place.

Hyundai Xcent owner FINED for not wearing helmet: SHOCKED after fake Honda Activa numberplate surfaces

A Hyundai Xcent owner in India was just fined Rs. 500 for not wearing a helmet. If this wasn’t bad enough, the Xcent owner was shocked when he found out that his car’s number plate was being used by a Honda Activa automatic scooter. Upon complaining to the Mumbai police about this grave discrepancy, the car owner got no relief and was also asked to pay up an additional Rs. 200 fine for parking the vehicle on the zebra crossing at a traffic signal.

Navaneet Bharadwaj

Navneet Bharadwaj, the owner of the Hyundai Xcent had this to say to Mid-Day about his ordeal,

I am Punjabi Brahmin (wearing a turban) and do not own any bike or scooter. I only own a car that I use for my personal use. When I checked with a few traffic police officers, they said that the fine had been imposed for some traffic violations in the Bandra area. I had, however, never visited Bandra in the period they mentioned. I was further shocked to see pictures of a bike with the same registration number as that of my car’s. I even showed them (Andheri traffic police) the e-challan images of the bike which had violated the rules but no one helped me. If vehicles with similar registration numbers are in the city, how am I at fault. The one who violates laws should be punished. This is a lapse on the part of the traffic department that inconveniences innocent people like me.

Over the past couple of years, there have been multiple instances of cars and two wheelers running fake numbers plates in various parts of India. In fact, there have been multiple cases of cars of the same brand, and of the same colour, running fake number plates. This makes it extremely difficult for cops to identify the genuine owner of a car, especially when a crime is committed. Often, vehicles running fake number plates are used for committing various crimes, and in such cases, vehicle owners totally unconnected with the crime are harassed just because their genuine vehicle registration numbers happened to be faked by criminals.

Fake Number Plate Featured

Meanwhile, the Bombay high court has delivered a judgment on a fake numberplate case. The court ruled that ‘Running An Unregistered Vehicle With Another Vehicle’s Registered Number Is Neither Cheating Nor Forgery’, and that it could only be treated as a traffic offence. In the said case, a Nissan Sunny owner was found guilty using an old number plate of one of his previous car on the unregistered Sunny sedan which was procured from the customs department. The court ruled that the owner was not guilty of forgery and cheating, and was only required to pay the traffic fine of Rs. 5,000 (under section 163 of the motor vehicle act applicable for driving/riding a vehicle without registration). The court arrived at this judgment by noting that forgery could be only applied to those cases where a forged document has been created with an intention of cheating/fraud, or to commit a crime.

Renault Triber: Official video reveals all you need to know about the compact MPV

Renault India will launch the Triber compact MPV on the 27th of August, 2019, and ahead of launch, the French automaker has just released a new video of the upcoming vehicle. The new video revals the sheer versatility of the Triber by showcasing the various seating configurations that the 7 seater offers. Also, the video talks about the safety features of the compact MPV, shows off the modern interiors and also touches upon the connectivity and infotainment options that the Triber offers. Based on an extended version of the Renault Kwid’s CMF-A platform, the Triber is likely to be very competitively priced thanks to its sub-4 meter length, which will give it extensive duty benefits.

In terms of pricing, the Renault Triber is likely to sit in the Rs. 5-7 lakh bracket, making it one of the most affordable MPVs sold in India. It’ll be a lot cheaper than the current market favourite – the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Triber will borrow its engine and gearbox from the Kwid 1.0. The engine is a 1 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated unit with 72 Bhp-96 Nm. On the Kwid, the same engine has 67 Bhp-91 Nm outputs.

The higher outputs on the Triber is meant to cope with the higher weight of the compact MPV. 5 speed manual and AMT options will be offered. The MPV will be front wheel driven, and gets dual airbags and ABS as standard. Higher trims will also get curtain airbags. Reverse parking sensors will be standard across trims while the top-end trim will get a reverse parking camera as well.

Renault Triber New Video Featured

A touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be offered on the top-end trims of the compact MPV. The Triber gets a ground clearance of 182 mm that should be adequate for most if not all road conditions that the compact MPV is likely to encounter in India. The MPV is designed with an outdoorsy vibe, and this explains the versatile seating layout that allows the compact MPV to go from a two seater to a seven seater within minutes. It features two removable seats that make up the third row and Renault has cleverly raised the roofline at the rear to make the last row of passengers comfortable. The Renault Triber can also be converted to a four seater with one side of the middle row being removed to accommodate longer luggage. The Datsun Go Plus is a direct rival to the Renault Triber but is a full generation behind in terms of styling and features. It’s likely to be cheaper than the Triber though.

EXCLUSIVE: BS6 TVS Apache 160 4V spotted testing ahead of launch

$

The Apache is one of the most popular models from TVS and the new version of the Apache 200 4V was spotted testing a few days back. Now, we have the exclusive spy shots of the upcoming BS6 version of the Apache 160 4V that will also sport a few other changes. The BS6 norms will be implemented in the Indian market by April next year and hence the manufacturer is upgrading its bikes to meet the stringent emission norms. However, the body design among other things could remain the same as seen in the images here.

Apache Bs6 1

The Apache 200 4V BSVI that was spotted testing earlier had LED headlamps as opposed to the conventional units on the current model. The same was being expected on the Apache 160 4V but going by the images here, it seems that is not the case. However, these are not production-ready motorcycles and the production-spec Apache 160 4V may or may not come with full-LED headlamps. On the Apache 200 4V, the test bike had two separate compartments for the low beam and the high beam but noticeably, there was no DRL in the bike according to the spy shots.

Apache Bs6 2

Talking about the TVS Apache 160 4V BS6 featured here, the bike does not carry any significant changes when compared to the current model. However, TVS is likely to introduce some new features in the new Apache 160 4V and more details could come out as the bike reaches its production stage. The chassis and suspension among other mechanical aspects are expected to remain the same with the major mechanical change being the BS6 engine upgrade. Design-wise, the Apache 160 4V is among the better-looking bikes in its segment and hence TVS would not play around on this front.

Apache Bs6 3

Coming to the BS6 engine upgrade that this bike will come, the power and torque figures are expected to remain the same even after the update. As of now, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 16.6 Bhp of power along with a peak torque of 14.8 Nm. The non-FI version produces a maximum of 16.2 Bhp of power. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. The carburetted version, however, may not be included in the 2020 BS6 lineup.

Apache Bs6 4

Though other specific details about the bike are not known yet, we expect a few features to be added on the BS6 TVS Apache 160 4V. The manufacturer may also update the body graphics of the bike along with adding new colour options to make it look fresh in the market. Expect TVS to launch the BS6 Apache 160 4V during the first quarter of 2020. When launched, the bike will rival the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ and the Suzuki Gixxer among others.

Finally! Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara brezza to get a petrol engine in February 2020

$
0
0

Come February 2020, Maruti Suzuki will launch the petrol powered variants of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, reports ACI. The compact SUV is likely to lose its diesel engine at the same time even as the Bharat Stage 6 emission norms come closer. The Brezza will borrow the 1.5 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated K-Series petrol engine from the likes of the Ertiga and Ciaz. This engine makes 104 Bhp-138 Nm and is paired with a mild hybrid powertrain. 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes are offered with this engine on the Ciaz and Ertiga, and the same configuration is likely to be offered on the Maruti Brezza as well. Apart from the new petrol engine, the Brezza will also need a full facelift with a lot of additional features as the competition in the compact SUV segment has increased greatly. The Brezza is now looking quite dated.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 2

The petrol powered Brezza may not be much cheaper than the diesel powered version. This is because the 1.5 liter petrol engine effectively means that the Brezza will not qualify for a lower rate of GST that compact cars under 4 meters in length are eligible for. For this, the petrol engine used on the vehicle must measure under 1.2 liters. The 1.2 liter petrol engine that Maruti currently has makes only 82 Bhp-112 Nm, and in hybrid trim: 90 Bhp-112 Nm. This engine may not be suitable for the Brezza, which is heavier than hatchbacks and sedans. The other option of course, is the 1 liter-3 cylinder BoosterJet turbo petrol engine that Maruti offers in the Baleno RS. This motor makes 101 Bhp-150 Nm, which should be decent for the Brezza. However, Maruti seems to be taking the ‘no replacement to displacement’ route, and is going with the 1.5 liter petrol.

For a full 3 years, ever since its launch in 2016, the Maruti Vitara Brezza occupied India’s top selling SUV position. The arrival of the Hyundai Venue has changed everything though, and the Brezza has been beaten to the top spot. A key weakness in the Maruti Brezza, which the Hyundai Venue has exploited to the hilt is the lack of a petrol engine option. Right from the outset, the Maruti Brezza has been diesel-only, using the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine in 89 Bhp-200 Nm state of tune. This diesel engine is offered with 5 speed manual and AMT options. In the last 2 years though, more and more buyers in India have begun preferring petrol powered compact SUVs, and the lack of a petrol engine cost the Brezza sales. The Venue, which is offered with two petrol engine options, apart from a diesel, is now being preferred by buyers over the Maruti Brezza.

Meet the Blitzer, a Royal Enfield Classic 350 modified into a CLASSY Bobber

$

0

The Classic 350 is the best selling motorcycle for Royal Enfield for quite some time now. The bike touched sales figure of 50,000 plus units per month on numerous occasions in past which goes on to show the popularity of the bike. Though now the sales have gone down compared to previous records, the popularity of the motorcycle remains intact and the Classic 350 is probably the most common Royal Enfield bike on our roads. The reason why we delved into a discussion about the Classic 350 is because of the magnificent bobber styled bike featured here.

Re Mod

Called the Blitzer, this Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been transformed into its new avatar by Bengaluru based Bulleteer Customs. Like the countless Royal Enfield bikes they have modified before, the Blitzer stands proud with a personality of its own. The bike originally was painted in a shade of maroon and since the client was in love with the colour, he asked the Bulleteer guys to retain it in a similar pattern. The result is in front of us all and the bike now sports white and maroon paint all around its body panels.

Re Mod 3

Talking about the changes made on the bike, it sports 140 mm thick tires at both ends along with chopped fenders to give the bike that typical bobber look. A custom T plate has been positioned at the front while the swingarm has been extended so as to create an old school bobber stance. The headlight has been replaced with an aftermarket LED unit that features a ring DRL while the handlebars are also aftermarket wide units. A digital speedometer provides all the relevant information a rider needs and is placed ahead of the wide handlebars.

Re Mod 2

The bike gets a good dose of chrome too/ The rims, front and rear suspension setup, gearbox, battery tank, instrument cluster and the silencer pipe have all been plated with copper which gives a classy look to this bobber. The custom tan saddle piece is beautifully placed and gets a textured cover. The handlebars, saddle and footpegs have been positioned in a way that that the riding triangle is comfortable and commanding as well. A performance air filter along with the custom silencer pipe are among the few mechanical changes on the bike. With all the weight-saving that has been done here, we’re sure that the performance of the Blitzer will for sure be better than the regular Classic 350.

Re Mod 4

Talking about the Classic 350, Royal Enfield is currently working on the next-generation model of the bike. The bike has already been spotted testing multiple times and the engine, chassis, as well as several other body parts of the bike, will be worked upon. The bike is expected to be launched sometime next year.

When it comes to celebrity cars, one can easily expect to see some of the flashiest cars in the country and then some. Celebrities like B-Town hunks, actresses, and cricketers among others have no dearth of money and a few of them are quite enthusiastic too. However, despite all this, the good old Toyota Fortuner manages to find a place in a lot of these garages as a personal vehicle. The rock-solid built quality, spacious and comfortable interiors as well as the reliable nature of the SUV is among the reasons why it finds a place in some of the celebrity garages. Here are 5 such celebrities who own a Toyota Fortuner SUV.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli earlier endorsed Toyota’s budget hatcchback in India, the Etios Liva hatchback. The Japanese automaker handed the cricketer a Fortuner 4X4 SUV which he still has. Seen above is his wife Anushka Sharma getting out of the same Fortuner which Virat had received as a gift from Toyota. The Indian also owns a number of other high end cars includng the Audi R8, Audi S5, Range Rover Vogue, Audi Q7, and the Audi A8 L among others.

Aamir Khan

MG Hector vs Tata Harrier: Which one is better on bad roads [Video]

$
0
0

Ever since MG announced the Hector to be India bound, the SUV has been regularly pitted against the Tata Harrier which is seen as its chief rival in the market. Now both the SUVs are in the same price range and have raised the segment’s bar in several ways but a major question that still looms over many minds is that which of them is better. Well, the answer depends mainly on one’s requirements and how they tend to use the SUV. What we are here to tell today is that which among the two performs better on bad roads. Check out the video below by Nexon Problems And Solutions to know the same.

Note that neither the MG Hector nor the Harrier comes with a 4×4 or AWD drivetrain. Both the SUVs are strictly front-wheel drive vehicles and are not meant to be taken for heavy off-roading. This video, however, mostly shows slushy terrain that is not much tough to conquer, though for heavy SUVs with front-wheel drive, it can be challenging. Talking about the results, the Harrier clearly had an edge over bad roads or what some may call mild-offroading. The Tata Harrier has an advantage in such conditions as it is underpinned by the OMEGA platform that is based on the Land Rover D8 platform. The same platform underpins the Land Rover Discovery, which is a very capable off-roading vehicle.

In terms of power, the Hector is more powerful than the Harrier when considering the diesel engine options on both the SUVs. However, power is not the only thing that matters when driving on such surfaces. Another thing to note here is that though the Harrier is an FWD SUV, it comes with a multi-mode traction control system that helps it tackle such terrains. It also has a higher ground clearance of 205 mm when compared to the Hector’s 195 mm. Over regular road conditions and broken surfaces, not much difference will be felt between both the SUVs but during occasional encounters with rough terrain, the Harrier will definitely beat the Hector.

Harrier Vs Hector Off Road

Talking about the engine powering the Tata Harrier, the SUV uses a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine which is a Fiat-derived unit. The same engine is found under the hood of the Jeep Compass, albeit in a higher state of tune. The upcoming Tata Cassini (7-seater Harrier) will also sport the same engine but in a higher state of tune. On the Harrier, this engine puts out 138 Bhp of power along with 350 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual box. Talking about the MG Hector, the newly launched SUV also used the same engine as its diesel mill. However, the power output here is 168 Bhp but the torque output remains the same at 350 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
