The MG Hector is one of the most popular mid-size SUVs sold in India. It was introduced to us last year and quickly grabbed buyers attention because of its premium looks, long list of features and attractive price tag. MG Motor later introduced a 6-seater version of the same known as a Hector Plus. It is the same as regular 5-seater Hector but, with a third row of seats. MG Hector is sold in international markets under a different name as well. In UAE, it is sold by Chevrolet under the name Captiva and here we have a video that shows how different it is from the Hector in India.
The video has been uploaded by YallaMotor on their youtube channel. The Chevrolet Captiva is nothing like the one that was sold in India before. It is basically the rebadged version of MG Hector but, Chevrolet has made minor changes to the car before giving it a different name. Starting with the front, there are horizontal chrome strips running inside the grille with a Chevrolet logo in the centre. The headlamp is positioned in the lower part of the bumper but, bumper itself has been slightly redesigned.

In comparison to Hector, you would notice very less use of chrome on Captiva. The side profile remains identical and has alloy wheels with same design. The rear gets LED tail lights and the Captiva badging on the boot. Moving inside, the Captiva gets a simple looking decently equipped cabin. In comparison to Hector, Captiva gets a small touchscreen infotainment screen and offers limited functions. The panoramic sunroof in the Hector has also been replaced with a smaller size unit.
The second row gets a 60-40 split seats that can be slid and reclined if needed. In comparison to the regular Hector sold in India, Chevrolet Captiva comes with a third row of seats and as in the case with any other car in the segment, it is only suitable for children. The Captiva is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol unit generating 149 Bhp of peak power and 255 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a CVT gearbox which is different from the DCT seen in Hector.
The Hector sold in India gets the 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine in 142 Bhp-240 Nm state of tune, and this engine is also available with a mild hybrid. There are two gearboxes on option: a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed twin clutch automatic. The hybrid gets only the manual gearbox. The other engine on offer is a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 170 Bhp-350 Nm outputs. The diesel engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard.
