Compact SUVs in specific are steadily becoming popular in India and International market. Most of the mainstream car manufacturers in India already have entered space. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Mexon, Mahindra XUV300 and recently launched Kia Sonet are some of the popular models in this segment. French car manufacturer Renault is also planning to enter this space with their new sub-4 meter compact SUV named Kiger. The concept model was recently revealed and here we have an official video from Renault that shares information about the upcoming SUV.
The video has been shared by Renault India on their official youtube channel. The video starts by showing the concept on which the Kiger is actually based on. Renault calls this concept Kiger show car and it will be an SUV that will be first launched in Indian market and then in international markets. It is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021. The design of the Kiger concept which is almost 80 percent similar to the production is built together by French and Indian designers to meet the needs of Indian customers.

Renault is fairly confident about the design and looks of Kiger SUV and says that this SUV will help them reach the 1 million customers mark soon. It is a sub-4 meter compact SUV that is based on CMF-A platform. It is the same platform that is seen in other Renault cars like Kwid and Triber. In terms of design, Renault Kiger has a very young looking design to it. Renault has tried to make it more appealing to the younger generation, many of who may be first time car buyers looking to buy a compact SUV. The Kiger as mentioned above, is a compact SUV and will be placed below Duster. It will be produced at Renault-Nissan joint manufacturing facility at Oragadam, Chennai. Kiger concept has a front grille that is similar to the one seen in Triber. Unlike the Triber, Kiger Concept gets DRL on top and headlamps on the mudguard.
It has got thick cladding around to give it an SUV feel. From the rear, it gets a sharp looking design that is similar to Nissan Magnite with a huge Renault logo on the boot lid. In terms of engine and transmission, Renault Kiger is expected to be offered in 2 engine options. One would be a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated version will come with a manual gearbox whereas the turbocharged unit is expected to come with manual and CVT gearbox. The Kiger will be the most affordable SUV launched by Renault in India. The compact SUV will also be exported to emerging markets around the globe.
