Ford Endeavour is one of the most popular full size SUV on sale in India. The SUV has been in the market for some time and it competes with cars like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Isuzu MU-X in the segment. Last year, Ford had launched the BS6 version of the Endeavour and they also deleted some of the features from the SUV. Now, Ford has discontinued the base variant of Ford Endeavour which now makes it a lot more expensive than before. Prices for Ford Endeavour now start at Rs 33.80 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 36.25 lakh, ex-showroom.

The base variant of Ford Endeavour was Titanium 4×2 Automatic. This has now been discontinued from the market. This discontinued version was priced at Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom. Ford Endeavour now comes in Titanium+ 4×2 AT, Titanium+ 4×4 AT and Sport 4×4 variants. The starting price of Ford Endeavour is now more than Isuzu MU-X and MG Gloster but, is still cheaper by approximately a lakh when compared with Toyota Fortuner diesel AT.

The Titanium+ version of Ford Endeavour is loaded with decent amount of features. It gets touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bi-LED headlamps, powered tail gate, electrically adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, parallel park assist feature and so on. In terms of safety features, Ford offers seven airbags, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, automatic headlamps and wipers, rear parking camera, Tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control and so on.

Ford Endeavour was earlier available with two different diesel engine options. Both of them were discontinued from the market as part of BS6 transition. Ford made minor cosmetic changes to the SUV and gave Endeavour a new BS6 compliant engine. It is now powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 167 Bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox which is not available in any other car in India.

Ford is also working on next-generation Ford Endeavour and the same was spotted testing internationally. The overall design of the Endeavour will be updated. It is expected to get a front fascia inspired from Ford’s F-Series pick-up trucks. This would give it a butch look when compared with other SUVs in the segment. The upcoming Ford Endeavour might be offered with two engine options. There will be a 2.0 litre twin turbo diesel engine and a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine that is expected to generate 254 Bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque.

We are not sure whether the V6 engine option will be introduced in India. Ford might also offer other features like blind zone warning, rear cross traffic warning, autonomous emergency braking and many other features with the SUV. The next-gen Endeavour was spotted testing in Australia. FOrd has not confirmed anything regarding the launch of this SUV. Our guess however is that the SUV will be launched in international market next year and will come to Indian market some time after the international launch.
