Along with the launch of the 2024 Swift, Maruti Suzuki has uploaded the first TVC (Television Commercial) for the car on YouTube. The all-new Swift is the fourth generation of the popular hatchback, originally launched in 2005. The 2024 Swift will replace its third-generation model which was sold from 2018-2024.
The 30-second TVC features the famous Bollywood star, Ananya Pandey. The TVC starts with the actress waking up and using her phone to text “Time to go swifting!!” to her friends. Following the scene, the actress uncovers the all-new 2024 Swift finished in red.
The TVC highlights some new features of the car such as new LED taillights & projector-based LED headlamps with DRLs and diamond-cut alloy wheels. After showing the exterior features, the TVC shifts to the interior highlighting key features such as a 9-inch infotainment system, push-button start and the redesigned instrument cluster.
The TVC then shifts to the driving shots of the car showing its sporty driving capabilities. Two more Swifts join the drive where the cars are seen going around the city and handling curves easily. The all-new engine is also shown in the commercial. In the TVC, the drive ends at a place where all other generations of the car are parked, showing its legacy in the country.
Now, let’s talk about what has changed. Instead of the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the car is now powered by an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine which produces 80 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque.
The transmission options are similar, offering a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic manual transmission (AMT). The power figures have dropped by 9 bhp but the torque figures are the same. This new engine is more fuel efficient with claimed mileage figures of 24.8 km/L for the manual and 25.87 km/L for the automatic version. On the other hand, the 2023 Swift had a claimed mileage figure of 22.38 km/L.
The prices of the 2024 Swift have gone up marginally. Here’s a variant-wise breakdown of the 2024 Swift pricing:
- LXi – Rs. 6.49 lakhs
VXi – Rs. 7.29 lakhs
VXi (O) – Rs. 7.56 lakhs
ZXi – Rs. 8.29 lakhs
ZXi+ – Rs. 8.99 lakhs
ZXi+ Dual Tone – Rs. 9.14 lakhs
Please note that the above prices are for the manual transmission versions. The automatic transmission option is available in all variants except the base LXi and the automatic transmission comes at an additional cost of Rs. 50,000.
Safety has seen a major upgrade in the 2024 Swift. The car now has six airbags (as standard), an electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, hill start assist and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. The third generation of Swift scored a one-star safety rating which is expected to improve with this iteration.
Feature-wise, the car offers the same tech as its previous version with the only new features being a wireless charger, a 9-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, heads-up display and connected car tech.
The Swift takes on its traditional rival – the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS. Price-wise, the all-new Swift overlaps with many cars though. From the Tata Punch and Citroen C3 to stable-mates Baleno and Fronx, the hatchback has many cars in its crosshairs.
