After multiple leaks and spotting Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the fourth-generation Swift in the Indian market. The prices for the all-new 2024 Swift start at Rs. 6.49 lakhs for the base LXi variant and go up to Rs. 9.14 lakhs for the top-end ZXi+ dual tone. Today, with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by MR Cars, we will compare the third-generation Swift with its fourth-generation iteration side by side.
The host mentions that both the cars are the ZXi which is the second top variant. Let’s start with the most significant change in the car which is its engine. The 2024 Swift is powered by an all-new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine which delivers 80 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The power figures have seen a decline as the third generation of the car was powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine which delivered an output of 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. However, the claimed mileage figures have now increased to 24.8 km/L from 22.38 km/L.
Regarding the design, it is similar to the third-generation Swift. The car features redesigned bumpers, all-new LED headlights & taillights, a new glossy black honeycomb pattern grille and a redesigned bonnet.
The overall design of the car is beautifully complemented by the muscular body lines on the side profile. The newer model has seen a change in dimensions as well. The 2024 Swift is now longer by 15mm and shorter by 10mm. However, the wheelbase and width have remained the same.
Another significant design change is the traditional positioning of rear door handles. Notably, the ZXi variant now does not offer fog lamps but it comes with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The ZXi variant of the car offers many additional features such as reverse parking sensors, a defogger, and a rear wiper with washer and alloy wheels.
Regarding the interior changes, the entire cabin has been revised and multiple features have been added to make this hatchback a more VFM option. The door pads and the dashboard now feature a dual-tone finish with multiple cuts and creases to give it a sporty appeal.
The ZXi variant of the new Swift offers necessary features such as all four power windows, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, keyless entry with push button start, wireless charging, auto AC and steering-mounted multimedia controls.
The instrument cluster has been redesigned. It features two analogue meters along with a small MID. The host mentions that the seats have been kept the same. The dashboard is adorned by a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top-end ZXI+ variant comes with a 9-inch infotainment system, 360-degree camera and a Heads-up Display.
Maruti has worked on the major issue of the previous Swift which was safety. The 2024 Swift offers six airbags as standard along with electronic stability control, ABS with EBD and hill start assist. With the 2024 Swift, we can expect an increase in the crash test ratings as well.
