According to AutoCar, Hyundai may launch the 1.4-litre versions of the car later this year to make the prices more competitive. The 1.4-litre engine options are available in both petrol and diesel disguise. The 1.4-litre engines were available with the last generation of the vehicle and were dropped with the new generation of the sedan.

The 1.4-litre diesel engine produces a maximum of 89 Bhp and 220 Nm. The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces a maximum of 107 Bhp. Hyundai is currently exporting the smaller engine powered Vernas to the international markets. To bring the Indian price even more competitive, Hyundai may launch the smaller engine powered Vernas later this year.

Incidentally, the Ciaz is the cheapest petrol sedan available in the segment while the city is the most expensive. In terms of diesel, the Verna is the cheapest at Rs. 9.19 lakh while the City is again most expensive. The new engines will enable Hyundai to price the car extremely competitively in the market. The smaller engines may only come with manual transmissions while the bigger engine options will offer the automatic transmission options.

The new Verna comes with a lot of first-in-segment features like ventilated front seats, a smart trunk that can be opened without touching it, EcoAir coating on the AC to reduce the smell, impact sensing auto door lock and sliding centre armrest. Other features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX seats, 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear windshield curtain and sunroof.
