Japanese auto giant, Nissan has announced that it will hike the price of all the vehicles across its model line-up from January 2018. The price hike will be applicable to Nissan and Datsun branded cars. The company has decided to hike up to Rs. 15,000 and the exact amount will vary from model to model.
Speaking about the price increase, Nissan Motor India – Managing Director, Jerome Saigot said,
“With the rise in input and manufacturing costs, Nissan has decided for a price hike across all Nissan and Datsun models with effect from January 1, 2018. The revised pricing will help us to optimize our manufacturing efficiencies and continue to serve our customers pan India.”
Nissan has a range of vehicles on offer in India. It starts from a humble Micra and goes to the likes of sportscar – GT-R. The short line-up also consists of the Sunny sedan and Terrano compact SUV. Datsun, which is the affordable arm of Nissan offers vehicles like GO. GO+ and redi-GO.
With the new year around the corner, car manufacturers like Mahindra, Isuzu, Skoda, Volkswagen, Jeep, Ford, Tata Motors, Toyota have announced the price hike for the near. Most of the manufacturers increase the prices at the new year.
Nissan-Datsun launched a the Terrano AMT and the redi-GO 1.0 earlier this year. Next year, the brand plans to bring the Kicks and the redi-GO 1.0 AMT. We may also see a slew of electric cars from the manufacturer. Nissan is already testing the Note e-Power in India with a range extender. The Japanese company also plans to evaluate the Nissan Leaf EV for the Indian market.
We may see a lot of new products and upcoming launches from the manufacturer at the 2018 Auto Expo, which is scheduled to take place from February, 2018.
