Toyota will officially start the delivery of the Yaris in the Indian market from 18th May 2018. The Japanese car brand has already announced the price of the vehicle that will take on the likes of Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna in the Indian market. The car was put on a safety test by ASEAN NCAP and it scored the highest 5-star rating in the evaluation.

Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) NCAP, which tests the cars from the specific region of Asia, tested the Toyota Vios, which is the Thailand version of the Yaris. It is quite similar to the Indian version and it has scored an impressive 32.19 points out of 36 points for adult protection. The sedan scored 42.44 points out of 49 for child safety. For safety assist features, the Yaris got 11 points out of 18.

The Toyota Yaris is quite well-guarded in the safety division. The Indian version of the Yaris is loaded with features and even the base variant of the vehicle gets 7 airbags, which is a first in any affordable car in India. The base version also gets features like hill-start, vehicle stability control and front and rear parking sensors. This makes the Yaris one of the best safety feature loaded vehicle in India.

The Toyota Yaris gets a base price of Rs. 8.75 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The vehicle is only available with petrol engines and the top-end version costs as much as Rs. 14.07 lakhs. Toyota has no plan to launch the diesel-powered Yaris in the future too. The petrol engine that powers the Yaris is a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i, four-cylinder engine that produces a maximum of 108 Bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque.

The engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed CVT gearbox. All the trim levels of the Yaris get the CVT automatic transmission as an option. The Yaris gets LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels and a shark fin antenna to give it a distinctive look. On the inside, it gets segment-first features like 60:40 rear split seat, roof-mounted AC, gesture-controlled touchscreen, ambient lighting and tyre-pressure monitoring system.
