Maruti Suzuki is all set to revamp the Ciaz C-Segment sedan with a mid-life facelift. According to the EconomicTimes, the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be launched in India during the first week of August, and bookings will open from the last week of July. The facelifted Ciaz will continue to sit in the C-Segment sedan space, taking on vehicles, such as the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris.
As for changes, the facelifted Ciaz will get refreshed front-end styling, replete with a new front grille and bumper. The rear is also likely to see styling tweaks on the bumper and bootlid. On the inside, new features are likely to be on offer with mild revisions to the colour schemes of the interiors. More significant changes on the sedan will happen under the hood.
The new Ciaz will get a more powerful, 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine that will replace the 1.4-litre unit. The bigger engine will produce 106 PS-138 Nm, a step up from the 94 Bhp-130 Nm outputs that the smaller motor makes on the current Ciaz. Five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearboxes are likely to be offered with the petrol engine, similar to what’s currently available.
The diesel engine is likely to be an all-new, 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged unit. Developed in-house by Suzuki, this engine will get a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s unclear if Maruti would also offer an automatic gearbox with this engine. As for pricing, the facelifted Ciaz is likely to retain its value proposition, with the sharpest price tag in its segment. Prices are likely to start from under Rs. 8 lakhs. The Ciaz is one of India’s best selling C-Segment sedans, and is sold from Maruti’s NEXA chain of dealerships. With the facelift, Maruti would be hoping that the car cements its best seller status.
