Toyota Yaris Specs
Powering the Toyota Yaris is a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 108 PS along with a peak torque of 140 Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard. A 7-step CVT is also on offer. It offers paddle shifters and cruise control. The optional CVT is available on all the trims. While the Yaris goes on to rival some well-established cars like the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, and Hyundai Verna, it doesn’t have a diesel engine variant on offer. Toyota probably feels that the fast diminishing difference between petrol and diesel prices along with the improvements in the fuel efficiency of petrol engines will soon reduce the popularity of diesel engines. That said, only time will tell if the Yaris would be able to attract the diesel car-buying lot through its refined petrol engine and CVT.
Toyota Yaris features
The Yaris offers a large number of passive and active safety features. The Yaris ups the safety quotient by offering seven airbags (front dual airbags, side airbags, curtain shield airbags and a knee airbag for the driver), disc brakes on all four wheels, and ABS with EBD as standard fitments across all the trims. This car also offers a tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, ESP, hill hold assist, front and rear proximity sensors, cruise control and reverse parking sensors with a camera. Other than this, the car also offers High Solar Energy Absorbing (HSEA), IR cut, acoustic & vibration control glass, power driver seat, roof mounted air vents, ambient illumination for rear passengers, and keyless entry and push-button start/stop. The long list of features, along with a mini-me Corolla Altis design, should help the car project itself as a really premium offering.
