The much-awaited Honda CR-V will be launched in the Indian market in October 2018. The CR-V was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and it will be an all-new product. The upcoming car will be based on an all-new platform and will be bigger than the current version of the car.
The current CR-V is a five-seater version, but the upcoming model will get three rows of seats and will have space for 7 people. Also, Honda will introduce a diesel engine for the first time in the CR-V in India. Honda will target well-established models like the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour with the new model. The diesel engine will also make a big impact on the sales of the upcoming CR-V.
The all-new CR-V will get the 1.6-litre iDTEC engine that will generate a maximum power of 120 Bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine has been re-tuned for the Indian market and a more powerful version of the same is available in the international markets. The petrol variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre engine that generates a maximum of 154 Bhp and 189 Bhp.
Even though the new CR-V will offer a 4WD system, the petrol powered variants will only get a FWD system unlike the current version of the model that offers the 4WD system with the 2.4-litre petrol engine. The new engine options will allow Honda to price the vehicle aggressively in the market. The all-new CR-V will be available in two versions. While many international markets will get the 5-seater version of the SUV, many developing countries will get the 7-seater version. On the inside, Honda is expected to offer features like leather seats and sunroof, among other safety features. It will also get the Honda Connect system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and navigation.
The all-new CR-V will be assembled in India. More details like feature lists and the equipment are not available but it is expected to get a long list of features. Honda will also launch the all-new Civic in the Indian market after the CR-V. The D-Segment sedan will also get the same 1.6-litre diesel engine like the CR-V but tuned in a different state.
