Hyundai has started working on the all-new, 2nd generation Creta compact SUV, which is scheduled to make its India entry sometime in late 2020. Here are a couple of speculative renders that show what the all-new Hyundai Creta could look like.
The renders clearly indicate that the new Hyundai Creta will resemble the automaker’s flagship SUV – the new Santa Fe. The new Creta is expected to look like a baby-Santa Fe, with a honeycomb front grille design that cascades down, larger front bumper and overall, an aggressive yet classy front end design. The profile of the SUV will get longer as well.
It’s no secret that the new Hyundai will get larger and longer than the current model, adding a row of seats. With seating capacity getting pushed up to 7, the new SUV is expected to get pricier as well. It’ll rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass in its next iteration.
As for mechanicals, the new Hyundai Creta will borrow engines from the new Kia compact SUV. These engines will meet Bharat Stage 6 emission norms and will be more fuel efficient than the current crop of motors offered on the Creta. However, they’ll be slightly smaller and less powerful than the 1.6 liter units.
Hyundai will go with 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engines on the new Creta. The SUV is also likely to be made ready for a hybrid and all-electric future. The new Creta is expected to be feature-rich, just like the current model. Expect the new SUV to offer a lot more than the current version.
A best seller right from outset, the current Hyundai Creta has set the segment benchmark. The new SUV is expected to follow suit. Hyundai is yet to begin testing the all-new Creta on Indian roads. We expect testing to start sometime next year. The new Creta will be built in India with a high amount of localization. However, don’t expect it be cheaper than the present version.
