Mahindra has rolled out an update to the infotainment system of the recently launched Marazzo MPV. Users of the Mahindra Marazzo top-end variants will now be able to pair their Apple iPhones with the Apple CarPlay, a feature that was previously unavailable on the MPV.
This feature is in addition to Android Auto, which has been available with the top-end Mahindra Marazzo from the outset. Veejay Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said,
With the introduction of Apple CarPlay, the Marazzo becomes even more desirable for customers who wish to stay connected. The inclusion of Apple CarPlay bolsters Marazzo’s already-strong suite of connectivity features that include Android Auto, GPS-enabled Navigation, Mahindra’s Bluesense App and Emergency Call function.
Almost every new car launched in India now gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on top-end trims. This is the car industry’s way of keeping up with the Smartphone generation by integrating the phone onto the infotainment system of the vehicle. This allows drivers to focus on the road without having to fiddle around with their phones.
Answering calls and even message read outs are handled by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the driver being able to control these functions through voice commands or steering mounted controls. This ensures that the driver’s eyes remain on the road, which is critical for safety.
The Mahindra Marazzo, which was launched about 6 weeks ago, has racked up over 10,000 bookings. Mahindra is currently selling around 2,000-2,500 units of the MPV each month. The Marazzo has been positioned in between the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta in terms of pricing, which starts from Rs. 9.99 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 14 lakhs.
The MPV is a seven seater, with an option for an 8 seat layout on lower trims. It’s powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine with 121 Bhp of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. A 6 speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels of the ladder frame Mahindra Marazzo.
Mahindra has plans of offering petrol and AMT options on the Marazzo in early 2020, when the Bharat Stage 6 emission norms kick in. Until then though, the MPV will continue as a diesel-only vehicle. People wanting more luxury on the Marazzo have the option of specifying one with the DC Design lounge kit.
