India’s best selling sedan – the Maruti Dzire – is now available at a hefty Rs. 57,500 Diwali discount across all variants. This move from Maruti Suzuki comes at a time when car sales are slowing and the automaker posted a lower profit growth.
The discount on the Maruti Dzire is split into two parts: Cash and exchange bonus. The cash discount is Rs. 27,500 while exchange bonus is Rs. 30,000. These discounts add up to a total of Rs. 57,500. Do note that the exchange bonus of Rs. 30,000 is applicable to only those cars that are less than 7 years old.
Car sales have dipped for the past 2 months and through big discounting, Maruti plans to regain big numbers. The Dzire sold in India is bought by not only family car buyers but also cab operators attached to Ola/Uber, who make up a big chunk of buyers.
The Maruti Dzire is also facing heat from the recently launched Honda Amaze compact sedan, which is clocking about 10,000 units in monthly sales. The Amaze is the compact sedan segment’s freshest entrant, and offers a wide range of variants at competitive prices. The market has responded quite well to the new Honda.
The Maruti Dzire, for its part, has enough ammunition to stay on top. The car is offered with two tried-and-tested engine options – a 1.2 liter K-Series petrol with 82 Bhp and 113 Nm on tap, and a 1.3 liter turbocharged diesel motor with 74 Bhp-190 Nm. Both engines are offered with 5 speed manual and automated manual transmissions. Prices of the Dzire start from Rs. 5.51 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
Fuel efficiency for the petrol and petrol AMT variants is rated at 22 Kmpl, while the diesel and diesel AMT variants manage a whopping 28 Kmpl. The biggest strengths of the Dzire are excellent reliability, great after sales service and low maintenance costs. The car continues to dominate the market on these strengths, and can be seen in almost every part of the country.
