TVS Motors launched the Apache RR 310 more than a year ago, and we’re yet to see heavily modified versions of the  motorcycle. TVS Motors recently ran a contest through which it invited enthusiasts and designers to submit renders showing new decals and modifications for the motorcycle. Here are 6 such renders that TVS Motors has now released, which was up for voting until the 4th of January.

Rendering artists have come up with interesting designs for the Apache RR 310. The one that really stands out is a  design renders by Ameya Bhoi. The render shows the TVS Apache RR 310 with a Ducati inspired paint job, Ohlins front forks, a single side swing arm and an Akrapovic exhaust.

Other renders show different decal styles for the Apache RR 310, and we hope that TVS Motors offers at least a few of these as custom jobs for interested customers.

The Apache RR 310 is priced at Rs. 2.05 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, and is the costliest bike from the TVS Motors  stable ever. The motorcycle is produced at TVS Motors’ Hosur factory, where it shares the factory floor with two  other small capacity BMW motorcycles – the BMW G 310R and the BMW G 310 GS. The Apache shares its mechanicals with these motorcycles although styling, pricing and positioning is totally different.

The motorcycle is powered by a 311cc, four stroke single cylinder engine that gets a unique reverse inclined cylidner  design. The motor makes 34 Bhp-28 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard. The motor is liquid cooled and fuel  injected, and comes with a four value head driven by twin overhead camshafts. Upside down front forks and a monoshock rear shock absorber make for suspension components on the motorcycle.

While the TVS Apache RR 310 launched to rave reviews, sales numbers have not been just as encouraging. In fact, the higher priced KTM Duke 390 and RC 390 together have managed to outsell the TVS Apache RR 310, whose demand seems to  have fizzled out after the initial spurt. Motorcycles priced above Rs. 2 lakhs typically are slow sellers in the price conscious Indian market, and the TVS Apache RR 310 faces a similar situation.

What isn’t helping the cause is the fact that the bike is priced very close to the KTM RC 390, a fully faired  sportsbike that’s a lot more powerful. The KTM RC 390 is powered by a 373cc, four stroke single cylinder engine with  43 Bhp-35 Nm on tap. It gets a 6 speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Dual channel ABS is also on offer, and the K M
motorcycle is a lot more faster than the TVS Apache 310.

On an everyday basis, the TVS Apache RR 310 is a more liveable motorcycle though since it has a less committed riding position. It makes it a good everyday bike as opposed to the track focused KTM RC 390, whose riding ergonomics are too racy to be comfortable for everyday riding. The TVS Apache 310 on the other hand, is relaxed enough for some sport touring to be possible. A lower price tag will definitely help.
