Toyota Rush SUV confirmed for India?

Sometime back we told you that Toyota is considering to launch the Rush crossover and Avanza MPV in India. Now, a report by CarBlogIndia that the launch of the Toyota Rush crossover is confirmed and will happen by 2021. The stylish crossover SUV has been referred to as the baby Fortuner in many international markets and is available for sale in Asian countries like the Philippines and Thailand. The latest generation model of the Rush was unveiled in November 2017 and carried a fresh styling as well as a whole lot of new features.

2019 Toyota Rush

The Toyota Rush is, in fact, the badge-engineered cousin to the Daihatsu Terios. The stylish crossover is built on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform which underpins several cars like the new Camry among others. Upon its launch, the Toyota rush will rival the likes of the new generation Hyundai Creta will be launched next year. Apart from the Creta, it will also rival the likes of the Nissan Kicks and the lower spec models of the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500. The upcoming Kia SP2i based compact SUV will be another rival to it. It will be brought here in the seven-seater guise.

Toyotoa Rush Feature

Talking about its body dimensions, the Toyota Rush sold in the international markets measures 4,435 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,705 mm in height. further, it has a wheelbase of  2,685 mm and a ground clearance of 220 mm which is pretty good. To give you an idea, the Mahindra XUV500 has a ground clearance of 200 mm, which is 20 mm less than the Rush. However, the XUV500 is larger than the Rush in all the three aspects. The current generation Creta is smaller than the rush and also has a smaller wheelbase than it but the upcoming next-generation Creta is larger and better than the model it replaces in every aspect.

As for the engine, the Rush is powered by the 2NR-VE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission is available with the crossover SUV and the power is channelled to the rear wheels. However, the Indian spec Rush might share its engine with the Yaris sedan, which features a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 106 Bhp and 140 Nm on tap. Further, the Indian spec model could also some other changes to make it a better fit in the Indian market.

On the interiors, the international version comes equipped with goodies like LED headlights and LED DRLs, 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system among others. Talking about the safety equipment on the car, the top-spec Rush includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control and hill start assist. According to the dealerships, Toyota will price the Rush with a starting price near the Rs. 13 lakh price mark.
