Tata’s first premium hatchback, which is named as the Altroz will soon be launched in the Indian market. The all-new car is expected to be launched in the coming months but Tata is yet to officially announce a launch date of the Altroz. Earlier today, Tata launched the official website of the Altroz with information of the product. Today, Tata also released a teaser video for the Altroz that shows the vehicle being driven around on the test track.

The all-new Altroz will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the newly launched Toyota Glaza. The official video released by Tata Motors shows Altroz testing around the track. The test mule seen in the video remains heavily camouflaged. However, Tata Motors earlier showcased the production-ready Altroz at the Geneva Motor Show and later similar camouflaged versions of the Altroz were spotted in India too.

The Tata Altroz carries a very sharp design gets the latest design philosophy from Tata Motors. It gets large headlamps that perfectly fit into the sleek grille of the vehicle. At the rear, the large tail lamps are enclosed by the black wraparounds that add a very sporty touch to the vehicle. The all-new Tata Altroz will be an attractive-looking car on the roads.

Earlier this year, the all-new Tata Harrier was launched in the market and it has done quite well in the market. With the Altroz, Tata is expected to gain more market shares in the Indian market. Since Altroz will be launching close to the implementation of the BS-VI norms in the market, it is likely to be launched with the BS6 compliant engine. However, the all-new Altroz will initially offer only the 1.5-litre diesel engine that also powers the Tata Nexon. With the Nexon, the diesel engine produces a maximum power of 108 Bhp and peak torque of 260 Nm. However, the Altroz may get a differently tuned engine to match the weight of the vehicle. Initially, only the manual transmission will be available in the car. However, the automatic transmission can be expected at a later date.

The all-new Altroz is also expected to get the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine available with the Nexon. There are also expectations of Tata adding a dual-clutch transmission to the Altroz. However, it will not be available at the time of the launch. On the inside, the car is expected to get plush interiors with a floating-type infotainment screen. Also, it will be quite spacious too. Being a Tata product, we can expect it to get a value-for-money price tag.
