Tata Harrier was launched earlier this year in the Indian market. It was one of the most awaited vehicles in the Indian market ever since the H5X prototype of the vehicle was showcased at the Auto Expo in India. Ever since the launch of the Harrier, it gathered a good position on the sales charts, often higher than the competitors like the Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass. Tata has announced that they have sold more than 10,000 Tata Harrier since its launch in the Indian market and is currently celebrating with the customers.
Tata has released a new video that captures the emotions of the customers about the Harrier. A few customers of the Harrier speak their mind on the Harrier and why they like it.
The Tata Harrier has gathered a lot of attention in the Indian market due to its looks on the roads. The sleek LED lamps on the Harrier give it a very futuristic look. The vehicle’s main headlamp cluster is located down below in the bumper. The Harrier became the first car in India to offer this set-up and the same design is quickly becoming common in the other vehicles too. The Harrier’s platform is based on the Land Rover’s D8 platform and the Harrier is the first vehicle to utilise the OMEGA Arc platform. Soon, a bigger, 7-seater version of the Harrier will be launched in the Indian market based on the same platform.
The all-new Harrier also offers a range of features, which are quite useful. The most interesting of them all is the 14-function ESP that controls the terrain modes. It should be noted that the Tata Harrier is only available in an FWD set-up. However, to make the vehicle more capable off-the-road compared to the other FWD SUVs in the market, Tata has developed the Terrain Response System. It works through the 14-function ESP and applying brakes on the individual brakes on the front axle to ensure that the wheel without traction does not move. It is a very smart system that allows the Harrier to reach a lot of difficult places. However, it remains an FWD vehicle and less capable than 4WD vehicles in the market.
The Tata Harrier draws power from a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass and the MG Hector in the Indian market. It produces a maximum power of 140 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. Currently, the Harrier only gets a single combination of engine and transmission set-up. However, Tata is working on an automatic version of the Harrier, which is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Tata will also increase the overall power of the Harrier and with the introduction of the BS6 engines, the Harrier is expected to produce around 170 Bhp.
