Sandalwood star Darshan has recently bought himself a brand new SUV in the form of the Lamborghini Urus. The Sant’Agata based company describes the Urus as a Super Sport Utility Vehicle (SSUV) and the Urus fits the description well. Darshan got his set of wheels in bright yellow, which is one of the most popular colour shades used by Lamborghini. His Urus has contrasting black Alloy wheels which look quite good. To let you know, this is not the first Lamborghini car the Kannada movie star owns. He bought a white Lamborghini Aventador Roadster in white last year.

Darshan Urus

The Lamborghini Urus has an ex-showroom, Delhi price of Rs. 3.0 crores but costs more than Rs. 3.5 crores on-road. Further, most of the owners go for customizations on the interiors as well offered by the company which further drives up the price. As already mentioned, this is Darshan’s second Lamborghini car as he already owns a white Lamborghini Huracan. Another notable sports car in his garage is a blue Jaguar XKR-S, which is not as common as some other sports cars in India. The Urus was recently bought by another Kannada star, Puneeth Rajkumar. He brought one in Blue and gifted it to his wife on women’s day.

Darshan Urus 3

Talking about the car, the Lamborghini Urus is sporty, fast as well as very comfortable. It comes with features like a 360-degree surround view camera, a custom Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system and the ANIMA drive modes. These drive modes also offer Sabbia (sand), Terra (gravel), Neve (snow) and Ego (fully customisable) modes along with the standard Strada, Sport and Corsa modes. These modes let the Urus tackle any terrain without any hiccup, though we doubt most of its owners would ever take it off the road

Darshan Urus 2

The Lamborghini Urus is powered by a 4.0-litre Twin Turbo V8 engine under the hood which is the first time the company has used such an engine. The bi-turbo engine pumps out a maximum power output of 641 Bhp of power and 850 Nm of peak torque. The SUV can hit the 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds, which are s[ortscar rivalling figures. Though it nearly weighs about 2.2-tonnes, the Lamborghini Urus has a top speed of 305 km/h which makes it the second fastest SUV in the world, the first being the Bentley Bentayga Speed. The V8 engine is paired with an 8-speed torque converter and comes with a central torsion differential 4 Wheel Drive with torque vectoring rear differential.

The Urus has become a big success worldwide and it shows how people are more interested in SUVs these days. More than 10 Urus SUVs have been bought in India till now, which is quite a big number considering Lamborghini’s other car’s sales in India.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is currently the most affordable adventure tourer you can buy in India. Its nearest competitor is the BMW G 310 GS, which costs upwards of Rs. 3 lakh in ex-showroom prices. However, the Hero XPulse 200 will be launched in the coming month which will then become the most affordable adventure tourer in the country. Talking about the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the bike has seen reasonable success in India as well as on the global level. It is also used as a base bike in many custom builds across the world. The video below by Endless Rides shows a Royal Enfield that has been fitted with a ton of accessories apart from some other mods done on it.

The initial shot of the video shows the Royal Enfield Himalayan climbing down a flight of stairs effortlessly. The Himalayan has been made to overcome such challenges without an issue and for the same has a high ground clearance along with long travel suspension. For an adventure tourer, ground clearance and suspension are among the most important aspects and the Himalayan scores decently there. Let’s now check out the other changes made on this bike.

Himalyan Mod

The front headlamp has been replaced and its place taken by an all LED unit. There is a yellow auxiliary light on each side of the headlamp which provides extra illumination at night. Further, the bike gets aftermarket handlebars and custom soft grips. An interesting accessory the bike has been fitted with is a four-speaker music system. The owner has also fitted two separate mobile phone holders, one dedicated to the music playing mobile phone while other to the navigation mobile phone.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Mod 2

The owner has also applied a ton of stickers on various body panels across the body. Moving on, the bike gets a new aftermarket crash guard with footpegs placed on its side. this has been done so that the rider can place his foot on them when on long rides and relax the body a bit. The tank and the rear seat have been topped with nets to boost the luggage carrying capacity of the bike. Saddle stands are also in place.

The bike also comes with a bottle holder, though we’re not sure what purpose it would serve being placed so close to the engine. An aftermarket exhaust is also in place which lends out a decent note when revved but the idling note is nothing to write home about. The engine has been kept stock, which is the 411 cc four-stroke unit that puts out 24.5 Bhp of peak power and 32 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with fuel injection. Dual channel ABS is also a standard fitment on the bike.

The Tata Nexon is one of the most popular sub-4 meter SUVs in the country. The stylish and funky looking car has been the second best selling vehicle in the sub-4 meter SUV segment for long. Though they are quite common on the road, we bet that the Nexon featured here is a one-off in the country. It has been modified on the PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battleground) theme and features a ton of PUBG inspired accessories. The video below by Vinay Kapoor gives a good look at the SUV and the PUBG accessories it comes with. Take a look at the video before we move onto the details of the mod job.

As seen in the video, this car is full of PUBG stickers, slogans and replicas mimicking equipment used in the game. Apart from the PUBG accessories, it has been fitted with the Red Rhino kit, which enhances its looks. Though we doubt there is anyone who does not know about PUBG, for those who don’t, it’s an online multiplayer battle royale style game in which multiple players are involved in direct/indirect combat leading to the win for the final survivor. PUBG has become very famous in India since some time and a lot of game accessories are available in shops to buy.

Coming back to the car in hand, let’s first talk about the Red rhino kit it is equipped with. There are subtle red shades across the car like on the front grille, the bonnet lift band among others. The alloys have been blacked out save for one spoke on each wheel which has been painted in red. The window line carries a red highlight which goes all the way to the rear end of the car. The rear end gets a custom diffuser along with red inserts on the side.

Pubg Nexon

The exteriors sport a lot of PUBG slogans like ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ among others. The front bonnet gets a big sticker which is actually the conqueror league badge in PUBG. The side cladding gets a lot of different types of PUBG stickers while the faux sniper bullets have been attached on the diffuser fins. On the interiors, the interior freshener is designed in the form of the red Jerry can available in PUBG to refuel cars. A pan has been on top of the dashboard which looks the same as the one in the game.

The total cost of the PUBG accessories on the car stands little at just Rs. 4,500. However, the Red Rhino kit it has been equipped with costs Rs. 35,000 while the skirts cost Rs. 1,800. One can get a similar PUBG theme on their car too as it costs just Rs. 4,500 sans the kit.

The Tesla Model X is one of the most well-known SUVs in the world right now. Every car made by Tesla is quite popular right now which includes the likes of the Model S and Roadster among others. However, the Model X is getting popular because apart from offering all the high-end technologies it has been bestowed with, it has an SUV stance which makes it more practical. Particularly in countries like India, where the Model X is the most popular model despite having a steep price due to all the import duties and taxes. The video below by Arpit Gupta shows a Tesla Model X in all angles on the streets of Mumbai. Take a look at the video to see the car in full glory.

The Tesla Model X is probably the fastest and most environment-friendly way to carry seven people on a set of four wheels in an SUV like body design. The SUV is available in several variants like 60D, 75D, 90D, P90D and P100D among others. The 60D is the most affordable among these. Being an SUV, it comes with AWD drivetrain. Although its design may suggest it to be more of a crossover than an SUV, it is referred to as an SUV only as most other crossovers are now. The Model X gets two electric motors mounted on each axle and the most powerful variant can do the 0-100 km/h run in just 2.7 seconds

Talking about the video, the Tesla Model X here is finished in blue and comes with black alloys. India has a few other Model X’s too, one of which is finished in blue while another is finished in pure white. One of the most interesting aspects of its design is the falcon door this car comes with. The rear door of this car open skywards and are quite a spectacle to look at. The car featured in the video opens one of its falcon doors towards the end of the video. Tesla also has built a program in the car’s system which is called the celebration mode. When this mode is turned on, the car turns into a merrymaking and dancing car with all its lights blinking in a pattern and the falcon doors opening and closing in a rhythm.

Tesla Model X 2

The Tesla Model X comes loaded with a host of other cool features too which are one of its USP. The signature almost buttonless dashboard has become quite famous now, especially that flowing touchscreen unit on the centre console. The car also comes with over-the-air updates, LED headlights with cornering lights, air suspension, and dual trunks. Moreover, it is equipped with an intelligent self-driving feature called the Tesla Autopilot. It can drive the car with little external input and also respond to the summon feature, which brings the car to its owner when in a parking lot.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in a brand new TVC [Video]

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the current market leader in the sub-4 meter SUV segment. Ever since it was launched, the Vitara Brezza has sat on the top of the sales game. The company sells roughly 14,000 units of the sub-4 meter SUV as an average per month. Of late, the overall sales of not only Maruti but the whole auto industry has fallen but the Vitara Brezza has shown a continuous sales growth, unlike many other models. To keep the vehicle ahead of its competitors, Maruti also promotes it majorly. For the same, the company released a new TVC recently which promoted the SUV in a bit different way.

The cheeky ad promotes the SUV with a oneliner – Wickedly smooth. The TVC depicts the smoothness in a somewhat different sense though but that’s marketing folks. In the ad, we see a few kids playing cricket when their ball goes towards a red Vitara Brezza. The owner of the car, who turns out to be one fine lady, catches the balls and is about to return it when suddenly she has a change of plans. Instead, she now scribbles something on the ball and to the dismay of the kids, throws it a few floors up. The ball lands up in the balcony of a charming young man and what the lady had scribbled on the ball turns out to be her contact number. Smart move.

The focus then shifts to the wireless telephony available on the Vitara Brezza, through which the lady then receives the call. Further, the tagline for this ad ‘Wickedly Smooth’ also indicates towards the smoothness of the 1.3-litre diesel motor that comes on the SUV. This engine puts out 89 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm of torque. It comes with both manual and automatic (AMT) transmission choices. The lack of a petrol motor is one of the major gripe potential buyers have with the Vitara Brezza and the company is working on getting that sorted. A petrol powered variant of the sub-4 meter SUV will soon be made available for buying in the market.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

The petrol engine that could be found under the Brezza’s hood is most likely to be the 1.2-litre DualJet SHVS unit that powers the Baleno too. This engine was launched recently and offers great fuel efficiency. The new 1.2-litre DualJet engine produces around 91 Bhp and around 120 Nm. The engine can be tweaked and the gearing can be changed to make it feel more lively in the Vitara Brezza. With the SHVS system, the new engine returns 21.4 km/l with the new Baleno and a slightly lower figure is expected on the Vitara Brezza. With Maruti Suzuki closing down its diesel business by April 2020, the launching of a petrol powered Brezza seems to be inevitable.

Registration of all new cars and motorcycles STOPPED: Here’s why

$
0
0

The registration of all motor vehicles has been put on hold from 2nd May 2019 to an indefinite period. The registration halt, though temporary, will affect a large number of people and industries across India. This move has been made by the NIC (National Informatics Centre) on a directive of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. NIC blocked access to the Transport Mission Mode Project’s pan-India application ‘Vahan’ for vehicle registration which basically means that the issuing of RC (Registration Certificate) for all classes of motor vehicles has been blocked from.

The reason for this move is the non-integrating of high-security registration plate (HSRP) with the ‘Vahan’ database. The action is based on decisions taken at a meeting chaired by the Joint Secretary, MVL, MoRTH, on April 4 in New Delhi on the integration of the registration plate with the ‘Vahan’ database. On a simpler note, no more RCs can be issued for new motor vehicles in any state across India. However, a few states like Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will not be affected by these developments. This is because these states use their own software instead of ‘Vahan’ and, therefore, can issue RC to newly registered vehicles.

To let you know, the 1st of April was the last date from when all classes of motor vehicles going on the road and being registered had to be fitted with the tamper-proof, high-security registration plate. This plate has many inbuilt security features and will bring a uniform design to number plates across the country, as seen in many other countries. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had given the task of issuing these security licence plate, including the third registration mark. At the local level, the dealerships are responsible to place a mark of registration on such plates and affix them on all new vehicles.

For the time being, even temporary permits cannot be issued as the NIC has blocked access to the ‘Vahan’ database itself.  Joint Transport Commissioner and Secretary, State Transport Authority, Rajeev Puthalath, told The Hindu:

“The MVD personnel could not log on to the ‘Vahan’ database. It is the laxity on the part of automobile manufacturers and dealers in making available the HSRP. Only Maruti has come up with the registration plate. We will be issuing a directive not to register new vehicles without affixing the HSRP,”

Talking about the high-security registration plates, they come with several security features and are made out of aluminium. Further, they are wrapped in reflective tapes and are tamper proof. These number plates are equipped with chrome-based hot-stamp self-destructive holograms, along with an image of the Ashoka Chakra. Then there is a retro-reflective film, bearing a verification inscription ‘India’ at a 45-degree inclination and the permanent identification number of minimum 7 digits which will be laser branded into the reflective sheeting on the bottom-hand side of the registration plate. The plates are fixed with tamper-proof non-removable, non-reusable snap locks, which will break on any attempt to remove the plates. Pre-fitted HSRPs are likely to cut down on the cases of vehicle theft and fraud in the country

The Hyundai Venue compact SUV has gotten off to a flying start as far as bookings go. The SUV has already clocked  2,000 bookings within a day of bookings going live on Hyundai India’s website, and dealerships across India. Hyundai has revealed that initial booking demand for the Venue has been for the petrol powered variants. We expect Hyundai to bag around 30,000 to 40,000 bookings before launch.

Hyundai Venue Front

Mr. Vikas Jain, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Ltdsaid,

We are overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response received from our SUV loving Customers. The Day one response is a record booking for an SUV, with an average of 84 VENUE every hour. We are receiving customer enquiries at all our touch points across India as VENUE tops Vehicle Preference Chart in Design, Power, Transmission and Connectivity. Further, the notable traction on Online booking is coming from Semi-urban areas due to strong telecom infrastructure. This showcases emergence of new era of connected mobility solutions and acceptance of technology in day-to-day life. We are confident that Hyundai VENUE will bring excitement and Cheer to Indian Auto Industry for a positive business environment.

The SUV will offer not one but two petrol engines, with multiple gearbox options. There will be a diesel engined  option as well, but with a single 6 speed manual gearbox option. Hyundai will offer a front wheel drive layout on the  Venue as standard, and there are no plans for an all wheel drive layout, even as an option.

The petrol powered Venue will get two engines: a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated unit lifted from the i20  Elite, and with 82 Bhp-114 Nm on tap, and a 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged unit that’s being introduced in India for the first time ever.

The turbo petrol motor will also be the most powerful unit on offer with the Venue, making 118 Bhp of peak power and 172 Nm of peak torque. The turbo petrol engine will get 6 speed manual and 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearboxes while the naturally aspirated petrol will get a 5 speed manual.

Hyundai Venue Interiors

The Venue’s diesel engine will also be borrowed from the i20 Elite, will displace 1.4 liters and make 89 Bhp-220 Nm.  A 6 speed manual gearbox will be standard with the diesel engine. The Venue will duck under the 4 meter mark in terms of length in order to make best of excise duty benefits offered by the Indian government to sub-4 meter cars.

What we’re expecting is a cracker of a price tag for the latest Hyundai SUV. This also indicated by the fact that the  Venue will be offered in E and S trims with the 1.2 liter petrol, which means that Hyundai will sell the entry level  petrol engined models as very affordable variants.

Prices are likely to climb when it comes to the turbocharged petrol engine, thanks to the extra performance and  convenience on offer. Hyundai has packed the Venue with many features, both in terms of safety and creature comforts. In fact, the Venue is the most connected SUV in India, with a variety of smartphone enabled features on offer.

These features will essentially allow the owner of the Venue to remotely start the car, operate its air condition, track it and immobilize it in case of a theft, locate it in a parking lot, and do many more such things. The Venue will also get 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, traction control, hill hold, reverse parking camera, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts,  seat belt reminders, cruise control, automatic headlamps, and more. The SUV will be launched in India on the May 21st. Deliveries will commence on the same day.

The comeback models of Jawa Motorcycles, the Jawa Forty-Two and Jawa, have received a tremendous market response ever since their launch. The bikes carry the original DNA of the Jawa bikes of old and incorporate that seamlessly with modern looks. A few days back, we told you about the official Jawa accessories that will be available with the bikes. However, saddle bad isn’t on the options list yet and even it is, that hasn’t been revealed by the company. If you have been wondering how the Jawa Forty-Two will look with saddlebags, the video below by Footloose Dev shows just that.

With the retro design it carries, the Jawa Forty-Two certainly looks great with classic leather saddlebags. Though the red Jawa Forty-Two here looks pretty good with the saddlebags on it, let us remind you that they are not a part of the official accessory kit. The official accessories by Jawa include centre stand, grab rails, pillion cushion support, saree guard, and crash-guard among others. Talking about the saddlebags for Jawa bikes, there are multiple options available in the market and one can eve get a set of panniers installed on the bike but they wouldn’t suit the bike as saddlebags do.

Royal Enfield offers custom saddle bikes for its bikes which can be bought from the dealerships. Jawa could also provide bespoke saddle bags for its bikes since the company is already focusing on being a lifestyle brand rather than just a bike brand. A lot of Jawa branded merchandise and apparels are available for buying at the Jawa dealerships and the option of saddlebags could pop up soon.

Jawa Forty Two Saddle Bags

The Jawa Forty-Two is powered by a 293 cc single cylinder engine with liquid cooling. The same engine also powers the Jawa (Classic) and the Jawa Perak bobber, though the latter’s engine has been bored out for more displacement. Talking about power output, this engine puts out 27 Bhp of power along with 28 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency score of the bike stands at 37.5 km/l, which is almost equal to rivals like the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (37 km/l).

The base variant of the Jawa Forty-Two is priced at Rs. 1.55 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes with a single channel ABS. The dual-channel ABS variant of the bike retails at Rs. 1.64 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). As of now, only two Jawa motorcycle models are available in the market but by the end of this year, the company will also launch the much awaited Jawa Perak. It is expected to be priced at Rs. 1.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), which was the price revealed during the launch of the other Jawa models last year. It remains to be seen if the Perak comes with the same price sticker or gets a new price that exceeds the Rs. 2 lakh price mark.

Mahindra XUV300 base W4 variant walkaround video review

$

Mahindra launched the XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV in February 2019 and the SUV has garnered quite a good response from buyers and critics alike. So much so that it became the second best selling sub-4 meter SUV in the month of March, leaving behind the like of the Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport among others. Mahindra offers the SUV in four variants, which are – W4, W6, W8, and W8(O). These variants are each available with either a petrol or a diesel powertrain, though the transmission offered right is only a manual box. If you are thinking of upgrading from a hatchback or a compact sedan into a sub-4 meter SUV and the Mahindra XUV300’s base variant has been in your mind, here’s a walkaround video review of the base variant of the car.

The video above by Hindustani Car Reviewer shows us the base W4 variant of the XUV300 inside out. This one here is the petrol-powered W4 variant which is powered by a newly developed 1.2-liter 3 cylinder turbocharged unit. This engine pumps out a good 110 Bhp of peak power along with a class leading 200 Nm of peak torque. To let you know, the diesel engine option on the XUV300 is borrowed from the Marazzo MPV and has been slightly detuned here for better fuel efficiency. Nonetheless, the 1.5-litre 4 cylinder engine still churns out class leading outputs of 115 Bhp of power along with 300 Nm of peak torque.

On the exteriors, a lot of chrome that comes on the top end variants has been done away with in the W4 variant. The front grille now sports a silver garnish above the grille while the chrome grille inserts have switched places with shiny black plastic inserts. However, Mahindra has still managed to give the base variant a pretty decent look. The cool vertical LED DRLs, though, are missing here and they contribute hugely to the car’s looks. The base variant of the XUV300 rides on 16-inch wheels that are still units and come without wheel caps. On the interiors, this variant of the XUV300 comes with a full black steering wheel without any control buttons, front armrests but no rear armrest, 4 adjustable headrests and manual seat height adjustment.

Mahindra Xuv300 Base Variant Featured

Further, the W4 variant of the XUV300 with petrol mill comes with multi-mode steering, which is a unique feature introduced by Mahindra on this car. It let’s you adjust the steering in three different settings which alter the steering response from light to heavy. The car also comes with gear shift indicator in the instrument cluster, power windows on all four doors, powered tailgate release and 2 speakers. Features like disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS and twin airbags are standard across the model lineup which is a good move by Mahindra. The price of the base petrol W4 variant of the XUV300 is Rs. 7,89,999 which makes it a good deal for all the kit it offers along with the powerful engine it is equipped with.

Range Rover Autobiography for less than a Toyota Fortuner: SOLID deal [Video]

The Land Rover’s Range Rover series SUVs are among the best in the world. They are well known for their huge road presence, powerful engines, ultra-luxurious interiors along with the off-road capabilities they possess. However, all of that comes for a price, a price that is high enough for keeping these SUVs out of reach for most of the people. The nearest us middle-class mortals can get to such vehicles is in the form of the Toyota Fortuner, which is one of the best selling SUVs in its segment. However, what if we told you that now you can buy a Range Rover for less than the price of a top end Toyota Fortuner. You heard that right, folks. Take a look at the video below by My Country My Ride which shows a used Range Rover for sale at cheap.

The SUV in the video above is a 2011 model of the Range Rover Autobiography, which originally retailed for more than Rs. 2 crores. Now before we get deep into details about the Rangie here, let’s talk about the Fortuner. The top end Toyota Fortuner retails for Rs. 33.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is one of the best SUVs in the sub Rs. 40 lakh price segment. It comes equipped with a full 4×4 drivetrain along with a number of creature comforts. However, it is no match for a Range Rover SUV in any sense at all, except maybe in an economic sense. However, that’s what this Range Rover Autobiography nullifies as it is available for Rs. 30.90 lakhs, which makes it around Rs. 2.70 lakhs cheaper than the Fortuner.

Range Rover Suv Used 2

Though it is a 2011 model, the Range Rover Autobiography looks quite good and imposing. Range Rovers are used by many celebrities and politicians for their comfort and reliability among other factors. Finished in a shade of white, it gets full leather interiors with all the creature comforts one might have wondered of. The one here has an odometer reading of 78,490 km on it which is not much for its powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine.

Let get a few things straight here though. A used Range Rover like the one here may cost less than, say a Fortuner, but the ownership and maintenance costs of the vehicle will be quite a lot. Even parts and servicing of any such high-end vehicles for that case cost quite a bomb so buying them only makes sense if you have a decent sum to spare for the car. Now that we have told you about the ownership costs of the SUV, if you are still interested in buying one, below are the contact number of the dealer who is offering the SUV. Also, check out the video description of the above video in YouTube for further information on the dealer.

This Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 by Zeus Customs is BLACK MAGIC!

The Royal Enfield 650 Twins are the most modern motorcycles from the company till date. Not only are they popular in India but they are getting a great deal of recognition internationally too. The bikes are getting quite popular in the mod circuits too and a few spectacular examples have already popped up on the scene. Joining the ranks is ‘The Prime Project’ by Zeus Customs. Based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, it is one of its kind hand made beauty that is approved by Royal Enfield itself. It was recently showcased at the Bangkok Motor Show 2019, where it proved to be quite a crowd puller.

Zeus Interceptor 3

As beautiful as it may be, the whole bike was prepared in just 45 days after the sketch was approved by Royal Enfield. This in itself is an applause-worthy feat given the amount of work done on the bike. Though we have said this a few times earlier too, but this modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 definitely is the most gorgeous mod examples we have set our eyes upon. It carries the classic old-school bike look mixed with art to which creates the stunning example it is.

Zeus Interceptor 2

The engine on the bike has not been tinkered with and is stock for the most part. However, almost everything else has been replaced or improved. The tank unit has been re-shaped and the lower part of it runs smoothly towards the rear end, which looks very good. Golden colour lines are used on the tank to up the aesthetic value of the bike. The stock handlebars have been replaced with a set of clip-on while the headlight is also a new unit. On the rear, the tail light is a small LED unit that looks quite good. The instrument cluster is another piece of art and is designed like a compass. Other changes made on the bike include a beautiful custom exhaust system with twin tailpipes that is one of the highlights of this modified Interceptor 650

Zeus Interceptor

As already said, there are no engine mods on the bike but power output has gown up slightly. This is due to the performance air filter as well as free flow exhaust that are now fitted on the bike. The bike now runs on matte black spoke wheels shod with high-profile tyres. The footpegs have been shifted towards the rear which leads to a more sporty riding style. The 648 cc, air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine on the Interceptor 650 churns out 47 Bhp of power along with 52 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed unit while the company also offers a slipper clutch with the bike. The Prime Project has been aptly named so and indeed is a prime example of how motorcycles should be modified when trying a retro theme.

Both the upcoming SUVs will get the all-new 2.0-litre diesel engine that will be developed Mahindra. The all-new engine will be BS-6 compliant. The engine will produce a maximum of 180 Bhp. Both the SUVs will utilise the same engines and the power and torque outputs are likely to remain the same. Both the SUVs are also likely to get a 4WD system but as the demand for such vehicles is very low in India, we may only see the 2WD versions of the vehicles.

Ford, on the other hand, will develop the touchscreen system for the upcoming SUVs. Ford will also develop the telematics system for the upcoming SUVs that will be similar to the connected BlueLink system like the BlueLink system that will be offered with the upcoming Hyundai Venue. The all-new infotainment system will be similar to the Ford SYNC3 systems that are available with the new-generation vehicles like the EcoSport and the Endeavour. It should be noted that Mahindra will also supply a low displacement BS-VI compliant petrol engines in the market. With the co-development of the upcoming SUV, the price tag on the vehicles is likely to remain on the lower side.

Can Tata Tigor Petrol beat Honda Amaze in refinement: Noise test reveals all [Video]

$

0

With the rising popularity of the sub-4m compact sedans in India, there are numerous choices available in the market now. With cars like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire, Tata Tigor, Volkswagen Ameo and Honda Amaze, the competition is quite stiff. The all-new Honda Amaze has become a blockbuster car from the brand and has become the best-seller from the manufacturer in India.

But the tax saving rules for the sub-4m vehicles is not related to the length of the vehicle but also its engine capacity. The petrol engine in the sub-4m vehicles should be below 1.2-litre displacement while the diesel engines should be below 1.5-litre of displacement. To keep up with the rule, manufacturers use three-cylinder engines, which are not as smooth as the four-cylinder engines and produce extra noise too. But can a Tata Tigor petrol beat a Honda Amaze when it comes to refinement and engine noise? Well, here is a comparison video of both the vehicles from the outside and inside that will clearly differentiate between the two vehicles.

The video by Lets TorQue compares the level of noise of both the vehicles from outside and inside. The video uses an application of a phone that measures the level of noise through the microphone and then plots it on a graph. The app shows the maximum level of noise recorded and an average level of noise recorded that gives a clear idea of the difference between the noise level of both the engines.

First, he tests the levels of Honda Amaze 1.2-litre petrol engine by keeping the phone on the edge of the engine bay and then measuring the noise inside the cabin. He follows the same steps with the Tata Tigor, which is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine.

The Honda Amaze produces a maximum noise of 92 dB outside the cabin with the phone placed on the engine bay. On average, it produces a noise of 84.4 dB. The Tata Tigor produces a maximum of 101.6 dB and 78.5 Nm of noise on an average. It clearly indicates that the Honda Amaze is much more silent than the Tata Tigor.

Why is the difference?

Both the vehicles get 1.2-litre engine but the Tata Tigor gets a 3-cylinder set-up while the Honda Amaze gets the four-cylinder set-up. The three-cylinder engines are not as well balanced like the four-cylinder engines, which are much more balanced and have fewer vibrations compared to the three-cylinder engines. The Tata Tigor’s 1.2-litre engine produces a maximum power of 85 PS and 114 Nm of peak torque. The Honda Amaze gets powered by the 1.2-litre four-cylinder that produces a maximum of 90 PS and 110 Nm. The Honda Amaze gets a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission while the Tata Tigor gets a 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission.

Heavily modified Maruti 800 with scissor doors is small car gone WILD!

The Maruti 800 is one car that India will probably never forget. Despite being discontinued since quite some time, the tiny little hatchback is still a common sight on the roads. Though it was not a popular car in the mod circuits initially, later on, there were several good examples of modified Maruti 800’s on the road. The one below is one of them and has received a complete makeover on the exteriors and the interiors as well. The most striking feature of this modified Maruti Suzuki 800 is that it has been fitted with scissor doors. Take a look at the video below by BANKS CUSTOM before we move on to the rest of the details of the car.

The scissor doors easily make the car stand out in the crowd. They are mostly used in sportscars and supercars along with modified cars like these. The reason behind them not being used usually on cars is that they hamper practicality as opening them in low garages and car parks becomes an issue. Moving on from the doors to the body paint, the custom paint job on this car has been done in matte black and looks quite good to say the least. It also contrasts with the interiors which sport a bright orange shade.

Maruti Suzuki 800 Mod 2

The front end gets a new metal bumper painted in silver along with aftermarket headlamps with built in DRLs. The rear end also sports a similar custom bumper along with aftermarket tail lamps. The car has been lifted by 3 inches and runs on 13-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels that look quite good. The front grille along with most other exterior body elements have been kept stock in order to keep the DNA of the 800 intact. The interiors have been fitted with a whole lot of features and equipment too.

Maruti Suzuki 800 Mod

An engine start-stop button is now responsible for ignition instead of the old-school key mechanism. Almost all of the interior panels are now in a shade of bright orange while the upholstery and some other panels sport a little black too. The custom front seats are 8 way adjustable. The steering wheel is an aftermarket sporty unit while the gearknob has been replaced with a skull-shaped unit. Full-scale matting has been done on the car and the interiors also sport ambient lighting now. The colour of the ambient lighting can be easily changed via a remote along with their patter.

The in-car entertainment system is a pretty robust unit with a huge bass tube, amplifier and aftermarket speakers installed on the car. Other notable additions made on the car include a pop-up sunroof along with a 7-inch touch infotainment system. The total cost of this mod job is pegged at around Rs. 2.5 lakh, which is nearly the same as what this car would have originally be priced at. The mod job though is quite good and this Maruti Suzuki 800 deserves the attention it gets on roads.

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 vs two Yamaha R15 V3s in a tug-of-war [Video]

$

The tug-of-war between the two vehicles is quite interesting to watch. Even though the result doesn’t establish much about the power of the vehicles, it sure is fun to watch. Here are two Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 trying to pull a Royal Enfield 350 Bullet. Who wins?

2 Yamaha YZF R15 V3 vs Royal Enfield Bullet 350

The video uploaded by Kp experiments shows two Royal Enfield bikes tied against the Royal Enfield Bullet 350. In the first attempt, one of the Yamaha R15 becomes free when the rope tied to it breaks. However, the single R15 keeps the heat on and keeps the tug-of-war alive between the two. Both the bikes can be heard revving but none of the bikes is able to pull the other successfully. Both of them can be seen doing a burnout on the dirt without getting a result.

In the next part of the video, both the Yamaha R15 bikes are securely tied with the Royal Enfield Bullet 350. When the tug-of-war starts, all the three bikes can be heard revving and doing burnouts. All the bikes are kicking dirt but without a result. In the end, there is no conclusive result. The two R15 bikes could not pull the Bullet and vice versa but it does not prove that Bullet 350’s power is as good as two R15 together.

First of all, the tug of war has been done on loose dirt surface. Because of the dirt, it is difficult for the bikes to get any traction. All the three bikes in the dirt are just doing burnouts and digging deeper in the ground rather than showing any real result and putting force on the opponent. This is why there is no difference in the result in both the attempts that were shown on the video.

Bullet Vs R15

Also, both the bikes belong to different segments totally. The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 is a full-faired bike that is made to be agile and track-friendly. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Bullet is made to be stable on the straight lines and it is not a cornering champion.

The Yamaha R15 V3 gets powered by a high-tech and much-advanced 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that revs high. It generates a maximum power of 19.3 Bhp at 10,000 rpm and peak torque of 15 Nm at 8,500 rpm. It gets a 6-speed transmission. Coming to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350, it gets powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 19.8 Bhp at 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The bike gets a 5-speed transmission. Both Bullet and R15 are from different segments completely and cater to the different kinds of buyers in the market. The massive engine of the Bullet does not rev much and develops power at the lower RPMs, which makes it better at towing and winning tug-of-war but on road, it is much slower than the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.

This Hindustan Ambassador with Tesla style touchscreen is the new COOL!

$

The Hindustan Motors Ambassador is a car that needs no introduction. Among the most popular cars of its era, the Ambassador has seen its fair share of days. The car was discontinued a couple of years back due to various factors, the mounting loss on the company (Hindustan Motors), though, was the chief reason. The exteriors and more importantly the interiors of the Ambassador were very basic compared to the modern cars which led to the shift in buyer percentage towards new age cars. However, the Ambassador featured here has received a really cool interior makeover and can rival modern cars for sure on the interior front.

Ambassador Interior Mod 3

The stock Ambassador’s interiors are quite basic and the dashboard is all black with a digital clock in the later models along with rectangular shaped AC vents and pretty simple instrument cluster layout. This one here, however, has got quite an upgrade and looks very modern. The whole dashboard layout has been changed and now sports a beige and black colour theme. The upholstery has also been given an upgrade. New floormats now adorn the footwell. The major highlight here, though, is the Tesla like portrait view touchscreen infotainment system, which is something that modern cars also don’t come with.

Ambassador Interior Mod

Placed at the centre of the dashboard, the infotainment has various features and function but moreover, it looks quite cool and single-handedly improves the appeal of the cabin. Apart from the touchscreen, the dashboard features circular AC vents with chrome rings around them. Various toggle switches have been placed beneath the infotainment system along with the ignition keyhole. The top of the dashboard gets a leather trim that flows over the instrument cluster and lends a modern appeal to the interiors.

Ambassador Interior Mod 2

The steering wheel is stock but gets wrapped in leather along with the black and beige treatment as well. The gear lever is also a new unit and the front seats get a leather handrest between them. Further, hidden white LED lights have been installed in the footwells as well as the dashboard which look cool. The door pads have also been given a boost and now feature a custom design in beige theme. Aftermarket speakers are also present on the door for ICE purpose. On a whole, this Ambassador with its modified interiors is probably among the most modern interiors we have seen on an Ambassador till date.

To let you know, Peugeot has bought the Ambassador nameplate from the CK Birla group sometime back and now plans to bring the name back into production. Instead of a single car, the French automaker is planning to introduce it as a separate brand, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

This is India’s first red coloured Tata Hexa, and it looks brilliant

$
0
0

Tata launched the all-new Hexa in Indian 2017 and it became quite popular in the market when compared to the Tata Aria, the vehicle it replaced. Keeping up with the market expectations, Tata launched the all-new Hexa in five colours and later added dual-colour option too. However, due to the majority market preference, Tata stayed away from eye-catchy colours like red. Here is a story of Abhinav Sharma, an architect of automobile showrooms by profession and car lover by passion who got the colour of his choice on the Tata Hexa.

Safari 1

Hexa 2

Abhinav has always been a Tata loyalist and owned a metallic red coloured Tata Safari 2.2 Dicor, which he bought after his ownership experience of a similar coloured Tata Indica turned out to be great. Abhinav did some modifications to the Tata Safari and kept it in immaculate condition for 10 years but since the 10-year ban on diesel vehicles is now imposed on the diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR, he had to let go of the Safari.

Hexa 1

He bought the Hexa in Tungsten Silver shade after not getting an exciting colour from the factory. Abhinav’s 4X4 Hexa did remain stock for some time till he did his market research to turn the “boring” colour into an exciting one. He finally zeroed in on IED Autoworks, who has been in this wrapping business for a long time now and has created some drool-worthy examples.

Hexa 5

Abhinav chose the wrapping way to convert his Hexa into a similar shade of Safari, which he dearly misses. Wrapping is a much better option as it keeps the stock paint intact and does not require modifications to the Registration Certificate of the vehicle. It should be noted that changing the original colour of the vehicle without endorsing it in the RC is illegal and the vehicle can get seized for such an act.

Hexa 3

Nonetheless, wrapping was done by the team of professionals at IED. Even wrapping is a job that needs to be mastered and the process is quite long. To fully cover the Hexa in the wrap, it took as many as four days for the team. Now, the price of such wraps can vary depending on various factors. Size of the vehicle, quality of the wrap and colour of the wrap are a few factors that directly affect the price of the wrap.

Hexa 4

The wrap used on this Tata Hexa is 1080 Metallic Red colour wrap from 3M, which is one of the best wraps available in the country. Since he wanted a particular colour so much, he had to wait for a week since the wrap was not in the stock. Nonetheless, the final results are stunning and the Hexa really stands out from the rest on the roads.

Yamaha MT-15 vs R15 V3 in a drag race: Who wins? [Video]

$
0
0

The Yamaha MT-15 was launched back in March and is basically a naked version of the R15 V3. There are a few other differences too and the MT-15 only comes with a single channel ABS compared to the double channel unit on the R15 V3 but let’s skip on that. The bigger question here is that which of these two bikes performs better in real-world conditions, like in a drag race. The MT-15 comes without any fairing while the R15 is a fully faired bike with a strong top end. The video below by MysticRider Prateek pits both these bikes against each other in a drag race. Let’s take a look at the video before talking about the results and the factors behind it.

First Round – MT-15 wins

The drag race in this video is conducted in two rounds, with the riders switching the bikes after the first round. In the first round, the MT-15 wins while the R15 V3 was behind by a whisker to the finish line. MT-15 maintained a lead since the start in this round but the R15 started to catch up quickly after crossing the 10 km/h mark. This indicates that on a long stretch, the R15 can easily beat the MT-15 despite starting a bit late.

Second Round – R15 V3 wins

The riders then switch the bikes and prepare again for the drag race. In this round, the R15 V3 rider takes a lead since the start and the distance between both the bikes grows more as they attain higher speed. The result, therefore, can be said to be a draw but let’s take a look at the reasons for this outcome and the factors involved here.

Drag

Reasons and factors behind the result

The rider’s skill and experience is a crucial part of drag races apart from the bikes. More than the performance difference between the bikes, the difference between both the riders is quite apparent here as both the races are won by the same guy.

A good start is very important in a drag race and the MT-15 had a bit of a limp start in the second round.

Weight of the riders on the bike is quite crucial when comparing bikes of almost equal power.

The R15 V3 performs better at higher speeds due to the fairings which provide it with better aerodynamics.

Bike specifications

Talking about the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0, it gets powered by a 155 cc engine that puts out 18.7 Bhp along with 15 Nm). The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as well. It comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS, VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and weighs 139 kg.

The Yamaha MT-15 is also powered by the same 155 cc, single cylinder liquid cooled engine that is found on the Yamaha R15. The engine output is nearly the same at 19 Bhp of power along with 15 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch. The weight of the bike, despite having no fairings is 138 kg. Power for both bikes peak at 10,000 rpm while max torque is available at 8,500 rpm, so that is also not a factor here.
