This modified Maruti Suzuki Gypsy is one CLEAN looking machine

Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki decided to halt the production of Gypsy in wake of the upcoming BSVI emission norms as well as BNSVAP safety norms. The Gypsy didn’t meet any of these and upgrading it for the same would result in extra costs which would have further resulted in a higher selling price. Despite being discontinued, the Gypsy remains a popular cult icon in the country and will be long remembered. Now DC NorthEast have modified a Gypsy and the result is pretty good, which is quite apparent by these images.

Gypsy Mod

Finished in a shade of light blue with a contrasting white roof, this Gypsy looks as classy as ever. Unlike several other Gypsy mods which are focused on making it an off-road beast, this one is focused more on practicality. This one now features a hardtop design which ends several inches before the tailgate, resulting in a small open cargo area along with a double cab for the passengers. Now that the rear passenger seats are also having a hardtop over their heads, this one can be deemed as an all-weather vehicle.

Gypsy Mod 4

Coupled with Gypsy’s ability to take on harsh terrains, this modified Gypsy can transport 4-5 people to the most treacherous of the spots without much of a hiccup. The front end of the car gets projector headlamps along with a new grille design and a stylish new bumper. All of these elements come together to give the car a distinct look when viewed from the front. The bumper also gets powerful LED lights embedded inside for better illumination.

On the sides, we see that the fenders have been blacked out and the car now runs on stylish 5-spoke rims that have been blacked out for added aesthetic appeal. The small cargo bed at the rear gets a cover over it. Therefore, your stuff won’t be ruined if you decided to go off-road with a boot full of luggage. The tailgate gets a wheel mount and the rest of the design is pretty clean. The black side mirrors seem to be aftermarket units and lend a butch look to the vehicle due to their square shape. Apart from this, not much has been changed on this Gypsy and this is probably the reason behind its clean looks.

Talking about the Gypsy, Maruti Suzuki has no plans of reviving the iconic vehicle in India as of now. However, a few reports suggest that the company could bring the new generation Jimny to the country in the coming months. Previously, Maruti had clearly stated that the Jimny won’t make it to India but going by speculations, the manufacturer could bring in a 2WD version of the Jimny to India.

This modified Hyundai Creta gets nicely specced interiors [Video]

The Hyundai Creta is unarguably the leader in the compact SUV game, though it was left behind in sales last month by the Kia Seltos. The stylish compact SUV also commands a premium resale value due to its popularity and market demand. The aftermarket accessories and fitment market for the Hyundai Creta are also much developed than for any other vehicle in its segment.  There have been various examples of modified Hyundai Creta in India with customised interiors, modified exteriors or both. The video below by Turbo Xtreme shows us another Creta that gets several modifications on its exteriors as well as the interiors.

As seen in the video, this Hyundai Creta has been transformed inside out. Painted in black, it gets a full set of chrome inserts on the outside which compliment the dark shade. The front end of the SUV now sports a custom chrome grille with several sharp tooth-like projections on it.  The silver scuff plate below the bumper also gets chrome surrounds while the fog lamps feature LED DRLs positioned along their sides. Simply put, the front end of the car looks elegant and more impressive than the stock vehicle.

Not much is different on the sides apart from the aftermarket side steps that carry a stylish pattern to match the alloy wheel design. The rear end is where things again get interesting. The lower bumper end now sports a custom silver diffuser with twin exhaust tips, which are non-functional of course. The taillights have been replaced by aftermarket units that come with a multitude of patterns. These LED units have sweeping matrix-style indicators along with an attractive looking pattern for the stoplight glow. The taillights are accompanied by LED reflectors mounted on each side of the bumper.

Moving over to the interiors of this Creta, they are completely draped in red and black now. The seats get red and black leather covers with red stitching which looks pretty good. The dashboard and the door pads have been finished in red paint that gives a soft leather feel upon being touched. The A, B, and C pillars have also been draped in red from the inside.

Truck driver fined a MASSIVE Rs. 6.53 lakhs, under ‘old Motor Vehicles Act’

In what seems to be the biggest fine that a vehicle has been hit with, a truck driver was hit with an enormous fine of Rs. 6.53 lakhs in Odisha, and that too under the old Motor Vehicles Act. We can only shudder to imagine what the fine under the amended Motor Vehicle Act would look like. It would certainly be many times more than that under the old act, which means a sum that’s a lot greater than Rs. 6.53 lakhs.

Truck Fine Featured 1

According to ZeeNews, the truck driver was stopped and fined by Sambalpur district police on the 10th of August, much before the new Motor Vehicle Act came into effect on the 1st of September. notably, police officials attached to the Sambalpur district recently issued another massive fine of over Rs. 1 lakh on another truck driver for overloading. That truck was also registered with Nagaland plates, and was overloaded with an earthmover.

Coming to the truck driver Dillip Karta, who paid the enormous fine amount of Rs. 6.53 lakhs was a native of Jharsuguda, and the truck was registered in Nagaland, under the name of Shailesh Shankar Lal Gupta. The reasons for this massive fine are multi-fold. The truck was being driven without road tax and was not carrying documents including vehicle insurance. It was also violating air and noise pollution conditions, was carrying passengers on the goods vehicle, and violated permit conditions. Not paying road tax is a serious offence and RTO officials often seize such vehicles and release them only after the road tax is duly paid. This has happened in case of many luxury car owners as well, who’ve had to shell out many lakhs of rupees for registering their cars in a different, often lower tax state, and using them in states with a much higher road tax. This is considered as tax evasion by RTO authorities.

In case of commercial vehicles, RTO officials are particularly stricter, and hefty fines are levied on erring drivers/owners. Over the past few  days, police and transport officials in various parts of India have begun levying hefty fines on errant motorists under the amended Motor Vehicles Act. Citizens across most states have protested, and many states have even steeply decreased fines for specific offences. Many states such as West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan have refused to implement the amended Motor Vehicles Act, citing that the fines were exorbitant. Gujarat has reduced fines while Karnataka and Odisha have asked police and transport officials to stop collecting the new fines. More states such as Maharashtra and Jharkhand are likely to follow Karnataka and Odisha in either reducing or removing much of the increased fines under the new Motor Vehicles Act.

Soon after the results of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) were announced on Saturday, videos of young men dancing atop cars and creating a ruckus on the public roads surfaced online. Several videos showing various cars with young men on top of the vehicle slowing moving the busy streets became viral on the Internet. Even though it is not known why exactly the youths in this video were acting like this but allegedly, they were celebrating the DUSU results. ABVP won three out of four posts in the recent election.

The video here is from the streets of North Campus where the men went out on their vehicles to celebrate the victory. The video shows several cars including an Audi A3, Hyundai i20 and a Mahindra Scorpio with people on the top of the roof. The vehicles can be seen moving in the traffic while the other motorists were giving them way all through. There is not a single policeman in the video who could have stopped them from creating a ruckus on the public roads. The incident reportedly happened for three hours in the same area. It should be noted that the 2019 MV Act has been implemented all through India on 1st September and except for a few states, all the other states are now issuing fines using the new amended act.

As per PTI, the Delhi Police has already taken cognisance of the videos and stated that they are currently analysing the videos. The cops have said that they are now trying to identify the men who were seen on the video and will take action against the violators. The video also shows the number plate of the vehicles which were used in the celebration. However, the cops have said that no FIR has been registered in the matter yet and they are still in the process of analysing the videos.

Such stunts on the public roads can turn out be extremely dangerous. The videos show that several men are at the top of the vehicles while the car is in motion. Any sudden acceleration or braking would result in losing the balance and falling from the top of the car. Also, several men are standing on the bonnet, which restricts the view of the driver and can cause accidents. All these actions recorded in the video are highly dangerous, and the people can be booked under dangerous driving law and several others.

Delhi police have been active in the past when it comes to addressing such viral dangerous videos on the Internet. A few weeks back, the cops issued a fine to a person who was using roller skates on the public roads and was getting towed by a car. We hope that the cops take strict action against these miscreants and make a strong example so that such incidents do not happen in the future.

Renault Kwid Electric (K-ZE) with 271 Kms range costs Rs. 6.22 lakhs in China: Want one in India?

Renault has introduced the K-ZE (Kwid Electric) in China, which is the biggest market for electric cars in the world. The Renault K-ZE is priced at 61,800 Chinese Yuan, which translates into Rs. 6.22 lakhs. The electric hatchback has a range of 271 kilometers per charge and can hit a top speed of 105 Kph. These factors make it an ideal city car for those looking at low running costs and a relatively greener, environmental friendly option. Also, the cost of the car looks quite attractive, and if Renault India launches the electric Kwid at this price point, the car will be quite attractive to a wide range of hatchback buyers. Notably, Renault is considering the K-ZE for India as it already makes the petrol powered version of the Kwid here. The K-ZE is not likely to be launched anytime before 2022 though as the French automaker is waiting for further clarity from the Indian government about electric vehicles.

Hyundai India just launched the Kona Electric SUV, and has been doing quite well. The response to the Hyundai Lona Electric has been very good, and the South Korean automaker has plans to develop a low cost electric car meant for the Indian mass market. Such a car is already under development, and will be launched in a couple of years. Mahindra has plans to launch an electric version of the XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV early next year. Called the eXUV300, it’s likely to be an affordable alternative to the Hyundai Kona, but with a much lower range per charge. The automaker is also working on an electric variant of the KUV100, which will be called the eKUV100.

Renault’s alliance partner Nissan is also planning to launch an electric car shortly in the Indian market. Called the Leaf, the electric hatchback from Nissan is likely to be quite pricey but will deliver an effective real world range of over 300 kilometers per charge, making it a viable alternative to city hatchbacks. The Nissan Leaf is expected to make its debut at the upcoming, 2020 Indian Auto Expo in February, next year.

The car has been a global best seller in the electric vehicles segment for Nissan but will be positioned as a low volume brand builder for the automaker in the Indian market. A slew of other automakers are planning to introduce electric cars in the coming months. MG Motor will launch the eZS electric SUV by the end of this year while Maruti Suzuki will launch the WagonR Electric as a cab-only electric vehicle early next year.

Woman threatens suicide after being stopped for breaking traffic rules: Cops let her off!

The amended Motor Vehicle Act came into play from the 1st of September this year. Ever since then, there have been numerous cases of huge challans issued to traffic rules violators, some of which were worth more than the cost of the vehicle itself. The traffic police have also become much more alert as well as stricter so as to ensure that road users are following the traffic rules in a proper manner.

The biggest change in the amended MV Act is the increment in fine rates, which have gone up by a fraction of up to 10 times. For the same, there have been various reports of people trying to dodge cops and challans in various ways. A few days back it was reported that a man set fire to his bike after he was issued a huge challan. Now, a woman in Delhi has made headlines for threating cops of committing suicide over a challan. You read that right, folks. Take a look at the video below by Dilli Tak which shows the whole incident unfold.

You may well want to take skip to 8:27 on the timeline to get to the part where the woman threatens the cops by saying she’ll commit suicide. As seen in the video, she committed numerous traffic offences which include talking/listening song on earphone while riding, wearing a helmet without a strap, having a broken number plate and not producing any vehicle-related documents. Not showing documents alone now results in a challan of over Rs. 15,000. During the course of the video, the woman continuously questions the cop over what crime has she committed and upon being told the answer, she reverts back to saying she’s not feeling well.

Moreover, she even tries to threaten the cop by saying she’ll hit him with the helmet when she was stopped by the cop. The cop remained unfazed by her threats to which she threw the helmet to one side of the road. She then starts saying that she’s not feeling well and her whole body is shivering and the cops must let her go because of the same. However, they insist on the fact that she has committed multiple traffic offences and hence will be fined. The woman again starts acting hysterically after this to the point that she even says that the cops are harassing her and she will commit suicide if they keep insisting on issuing a challan.

Helmet Woman Delhi Police Featured

Going by the offences she committed, she would have been fined Rs 5000 for not producing the driving licence, Rs 5000 for not having the Registration Certificate (RC), and another Rs 3000 for not having any third-party insurance to show. Apart from this, Rs 1000 would be added to the total amount for the helmet. The cops could have also strapped another Rs. 10,000 for air pollution standards violation. The damaged number plate and using earphones while riding would have added to the overall fine by a major sum.

The new Motor Vehicle Act has not been received well by several states in the country who have either postponed its implementation or have reduced the fines. This includes West Bengal, Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka among others. While we won’t comment on whether the MV Acts should be implemented by these states or not, we would definitely like to see it being implemented uniformly without any gender bias.
