Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be launched on the 30th of this month. Before the official launch, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the exterior of the upcoming car in a new Television Commercial (TVC). The new TVC features Varun Dhawan and shows how the production version of the car will look like in real life.

The TVC shows the top-end version of the upcoming S-Presso. The front-end of the car gets a sleek chrome grille with four slats while the logo of the Suzuki is placed in the centre. The TVC also clearly shows the headlamps of the hatchback that look quite smart. The S-Presso is designed for the youths and the quirky bits like the headlamps and the crossover-inspired design of the car is something that is expected to attract the youths. The all-new S-Presso will also get crossover-inspired features like a skid plate in the front and the rear. Also, the wheel arches look flared that adds muscle to the overall design of the vehicle.

As seen in the video, even the top-end version of the S-Presso will get wheel covers instead of the alloy wheels. Also, the turn indicators are placed on the body itself instead of getting integrated into the ORVMs. Such bits indicates that the upcoming S-Presso will be priced quite attractively in the market and even the top-end version will get a competitive price tag. From the side, the S-Presso looks like a mini-Vitara Brezza. It gets a flat bonnet and the A-Pillar is upright too. At the rear, the tail lamps of the upcoming S-Presso get a C-Shaped stop lamp. The indicator and the reverse lamp are positioned within the C-Shape.

Maruti S Presso Featured 2

The cabin of the vehicle has not been spotted yet. However, a glimpse of the interior shows that the car will get fixed headrest. The dashboard of the all-new S-Presso is also expected to be designed in a quirky way to offer a youthful design. We can expect that the top-end variant will get the 7.0-inch infotainment system and automatic climate control. Apart from that, all the other standard features like a driver-side airbag, ABS+EBD, reverse parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and speed warning system will be available across the variants. The top-end variant may get extra features like reverse camera and dual airbags among others.

The all-new S-Presso will be available in four different trim levels. It will be sold through the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealership network. Also, it will become the first Maruti Suzuki car to offer the BS6 compliant 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine. The engine will generate a maximum power of 68 PS and will get a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. However, there will be optional AMT automatic transmission available too.

Cab driver FINED for wearing ‘unbuttoned shirt’& slippers

The new MV Act has created a lot of ruckus in various states in India. The new amended act, which was introduced on 1st September 2019 has caused an uproar among the motorists throughout the country. The cops, on the other hand, are busy enforcing the new laws strictly to the motorists. Recently, a motorcyclist was fined for wearing slippers while riding. Here comes another bizarre challan issued by the Rajasthan cops to a cab driver, who was driving with his shirt buttons opened and wearing slippers.

The new incident took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The traffic police of the state capital flagged down a cab at Sanjay Circle. After inspecting the documents and other mandatory documents, the cops issued a challan of Rs 1,600 to the driver. The challan receipt mentions that the driver of the car was wearing slippers and also the shirt buttons were opened. The cab driver was on duty when the incident happened.

The incident took place on 6th September, soon after the new MV Act came into effect. The car driver was fined on the spot and it was a court challan. It is not known if the driver has already paid the fine or will challenge the fine in the court.

Taxi Driver Unbuttoned Fine Featured

In India, the cab drivers on duty have to follow a dress code. The rule came in several years ago when various states announced that the cab drivers have to wear a uniform and have to put their ID cards. The uniform code varies in different states. In Rajasthan, the cab drivers have to wear a blue shirt and pant when on duty. Also, the cab driver has to wear shoes that cover the feet of the driver.

While there is a uniform for the cab drivers, there is no such mention in the rule book for the private car drivers. Whereas, motorists on two-wheelers cannot ride while wearing slippers. It is illegal and the biker can be fined up to Rs 1,000 according to the rules. It should be noted that these are not new rules that have been introduced in the amended MV Act. The rule about the cab driver uniform and wearing slippers on motorcycles have been there for many years now. However, recently, the cops have started to implement them in parts of the country.

Rajasthan is one of the states that has decided to defer the implementation of the new MV Act due to the high fine amount. Instead, the state is now working to formulate new rules with lower fine amounts and implement it in the state. This has been done due to the sudden rise in the fine amounts, which has seen a lot of opposition from the motorists.

Xuv300 7 Seater Spyshots 2

According to Car&Bike, this test mule is the Mahindra S204 and it was spotted testing on the outskirts of Chennai. The S204 will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos and will be positioned as a compact SUV in between the XUV300 and XUV500. It is likely to get a 1.5-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that will be introduced on the Marazzo in the coming time. Also on offer could be the 1.5-litre 4 cylinders turbocharged diesel engine which is found on the XUV300 and the Marazzo. On the XUV300, this engine pumps out 115 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque, though it will be tuned for more power if used on the S201.

Since the S201 is most likely to be based on the SsangYong XLV, let’s do some dimensions talk here. The XLV measures 4,440mm in length, 1,798mm in width and 1,635mm in height. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a boot space of 720 litres. While the wheelbase of the XLV is the same as the XUV300 and the Tivoli, the huge trunk space can be utilised for third-row seats in the S204.

Mahindra will also launch the S204 compact SUV in the European markets. This is scheduled to happen in 2022 and hence, expect the Indian launch to happen by the end of 2020 or in 2021. Going by the spy shots here, the vehicle features a familiar Mahindra design all around. The test mule is heavily camouflaged but certain design elements like the front grille and body silhouette.

Mahindra will also launch the next-gen XUV500 SUV next year that will strengthen the automaker’s position in the mid-size SUV segment. The arrival of S204 will further help Mahindra to capture the affordable SUV segments of India. When launched, the S204 will directly challenge the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks among others. The Hyundai Creta will also get a next-gen model in 2020 and hence the competition will only get hotter in the coming time.

American automaker Ford is all set to give Mahindra control of its India business. The official announcement is likely to come next week. Ford India will enter a joint venture with Mahindra, giving the latter 51 % control of the operation. Ford is said to have equal voting rights and board representation in the new company that it will form with Mahindra.

The set-up is expected to transfer much of Ford’s India operational risk to Mahindra while allowing the American automaker have a presence in what could turn out to be one of the world’s top-3 car markets in the next 10 years or so. Mahindra is expected to buy out a big chunk of Ford India’s operations for an undisclosed amount. Exact details could be available next week.

Ford has not denied this development but has not gone into the specifics, instead choosing to say this when asked about the new set-up by ETAuto,

Ford remains committed to growing its customer base and product portfolio in the world’s fourth-largest automobile market, and will continue to make in India, for India and the world.

In the past few months, there have been multiple rumblings about a Ford-Mahindra joint venture, which will allow Mahindra to use Ford’s KA platform for electrification. The Figo Aspire compact sedan’s electric version will be sold by both Ford and Mahindra. Also, upcoming Ford SUVs could use Mahindra’s platforms. In fact. a sub-4 meter compact SUV and a mid-sized SUV using Ford badges could use a Mahindra platform.

Already, Mahindra dealerships in cities where Ford does not have a presence retails the EcoSport compact SUV. Going forward, more Ford cars could be retailed from Mahindra dealerships in cities where the American automaker has no presence. This will give Ford access to India’s smaller cities and towns without actually having to appoint dealerships and service centers.

Ford is likely to continue operating the Sanand factory, which manufactures engines meant mainly for export. Last week, some reports suggested that Ford was looking at selling off the Sanand factory, into which it has invested a couple of billion dollars. Ford currently operates two factories in India, one at Sanand Gujarat, and an older facility at Chennai, Tamilnadu. Ford first entered India in 1926, and exited the market in 1990. It re-entered India in the early 1990s, partnering Mahindra in a joint venture, before deciding to go solo by the end of that decade. Ever since, Ford has been an independent automaker in India.

While a brand-new Skoda Superb costs a lot, there are quite a few examples in the used car market that are available for a much affordable price. In fact, there are many Skoda Superb sedans that are priced much lower than mass-segment cars in the used car market. Here is one such Skoda Superb on sale and the asking price is cheaper than a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Alto. The car for sale is located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The asking price is only Rs 3.95 lakh, which makes it much cheaper than the top-end version of the Alto. Prices of the Maruti Alto start from around 3.3 lakhs for the base variant, going up to Rs. 4.6 lakhs for the top-end model.

Skoda Octavia 3

The vehicle for sale is the top-end petrol variant that comes with a long list of features. From the pictures, we can see that the sedan is extremely well-maintained and as per the details given in the advertisement, it is in immaculate condition. Further, the advertisement mentions that the car is owned by an NRI. This is the 2011 model of the Skoda Superb, which is the pre-facelifted model. However, the condition of the car from the pictures look great. We are not sure if there are minor scratches or dents on the body as we have not inspected the car physically.

Nonetheless, this vehicle comes a comprehensive insurance cover and also gets newly installed tyres. The alloy wheels are stock too. The owner has also mentioned that the vehicle comes with two original keys and it has been well-kept too. In fact, the owner mentions that the vehicle has always been parked under a shed. The car is in white colour, which is one of the favourite colours in the Indian market.

Skoda Octavia 2

The Skoda Superb for sale gets features like airbags, ABS, automatic folding mirrors, integrated indicators, automatic climate control system, 6 CD changer music system with Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensors, front parking sensors, sunroof, leather upholstery and more such high-end features. Maruti Suzuki XL5: Premium version of WagonR could look like this

Maruti Suzuki launched the all-new WagonR earlier this year in the Indian market. Based on the HEARTECT platform, the all-new WagonR has become quite popular in the Indian market and is currently the best-selling vehicle in the segment. The all-new WagonR is much bigger than the previous-generation model and currently available through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealership network. Recently, a heavily camouflaged version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR was spied testing on the Indian roads. While it is not known what Maruti Suzuki is testing under the heavily camouflaged version of the all-new WagonR, speculations are that the vehicle is the premium version of WagonR, which is likely to be known as the XL5. However, the vehicle can also be the electric version of the WagonR, which is also due to be launched in the Indian market.

Wagonr 2

Here is a rendering image by Shoeb Kalania for IAB that shows the premium version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. This rendered image follows the same strategy of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Maruti Suzuki XL6, which was launched a few weeks back. Just like the XL6, which is being sold through the premium dealership network of Maruti Suzuki, the premium version of the WagonR gets a new front-end. It gets a bigger grille and a split headlamp set-up. However, we are not sure how realistic this rendering image will turn out to be since Maruti is not expected to get a split headlamp set-up in the Indian market yet.

The front-end of this premium Maruti Suzuki WagonR gets headlamp cluster positioned down below the sleek DRLs. When the body of the car gets black plastic cladding all around. Just like the XL6, we can see a silver skid plate at the front of the car and the same treatment can be expected in the rear too.

The changes will not be limited to the exterior of the vehicle but we will get to see an all-new cabin too. The XL6 received an all-black treatment that offers a much more premium feel. The premium version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is expected to get a similar, all-black treatment. The seats and other parts of the vehicle are also expected to get updated to offer a more premium feel. Maruti Suzuki introduced new colour options for the XL6 in addition to the colours available with the Ertiga. A similar treatment will be given to the new premium WagonR too.

The engine, however, will remain the same. We can expect a higher power-generating 1.2-litre engine that is available with the WagonR to power the premium version of the car too. However, we may also get to see the 1.0-litre engine option to keep the price competitive.

MG Hector Diesel Fuel Economy Test: Can it beat the Tata Harrier? [Video]

$
0
0

A few months back, we ran the Tata Harrier through our typical fuel economy test wherein we drive the vehicle over a standard route of 180km on the Taj Expressway at a speed of 80 km/h with the air-con running set at about 26 degrees. During that run, the Harrier delivered an excellent figure of 23.9 kmpl [see video] and with the MG Hector, its chief rival, being the talk of the town, we threw the challenge to this new kid on the block too. Could this one, the Hector diesel, manage or better the same figure given the same driving conditions?

1mg Hector Diesel

Remember, both the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector come with the same 2.0 diesel motor that is sourced from the FCA group. However, both companies have tuned the engine differently. Further, the Hector makes an additional 30PS of power, is heavier than 25 kilos but rides on tyres that are 20mm narrower. Interesting combination right? Well, to know the actual figure that we achieved, hit the play button right away!

We have been doing these fuel economy runs for a while now and do them in a ‘controlled’ way just to understand how much can a car deliver when driven with a light right foot. Yes, we understand you and I will never drive a car on open roads like this, but as we said, the idea is to extract the best. In this case, the Hector diesel comes with a rated economy of just over 17 kmpl and this is fractionally more than that of the Harrier’s. Our end result? Read on…

3mg Hector Diesel

We always conduct these drives on a tankful to tankful basis and make sure the tank is filled to the brim slowly, allowing air bubbles to escape in the process. This is a slow process but ensures the end result is as error free as possible. In this case, we drove the car for 178km and in the end, it took in 7.31 litres of diesel before it could take no more [watch the video above] – simple calculations show that the end result was an average of 24.3 kmpl. The display in the meantime showed 24.9 kmpl and such a small error is a common occurrence. Do note that an indicated 80 km/h, the engine spins at about 1450 rpm in the 6th gear.

Screenshot 20190925 214153

So yes, the Hector ended up delivering a figure that was 2% higher than the Harrier’s 23.9 but to be fair, such a small margin can be ignored. Its fair to say then that the Hector, inspite of having more power under the hood, is as efficient as the lighter Harrier. We will be coming up with two more fuel economy runs of other Hector models, but with a twist. What are these and how did the other engine configurations fare? Well for this, keep an eye on this website and also hit the subscribe button on our Youtube channel right away!

Woman on scooter stops bus coming in the WRONG lane: Makes bus take the right lane [Video]

$

Driving in the wrong lane is a major problem faced by motorists every day on the roads throughout India. Wrong side driving is not only extremely dangerous, but it also causes a lot of chaos on the roads and can build up a massive jam. However, we do get to see many vehicles including the trucks and buses going on the wrong lane without any hesitation. The roads that have no physical dividers are worst-hit by such driving on the wrong side. Many vehicles jump over the solid double lines to overtake the slow-moving traffic.

As we all have noticed, state transport buses are one of the most rashly driven vehicles on public roads. While many state governments have tried keeping them under control by installing speed governing devices, these buses seldom drive in a sane way on the public roads. Here is a video from Kerala was posted on the Vandibhranthanmar group, where a brave lady on a scooter can be seen forcing a bus to go back into the right lane. The video is becoming viral on social media websites and we do appreciate such moves on the roads.

The video shows the lady standing in front of the bus and not moving at all. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus can be seen taking a sharp left at a slow speed to get back into his own lane. The lady, meanwhile, can be seen standing firmly at the spot and waiting for the bus to enter the correct lane. The move has been appreciated by the crowd present at the spot. However, such encounters with heavy vehicles can turn out to be very different too! This is why one should be very cautious while handling such situations.

Bus Scooter Fight Featured

This is not the first time that a motorist on two-wheeler has forced a bus to turn back into the right lane. Last year, a youth from Bengaluru forced a government-operated BMTC bus to take reverse on the road and go back all the way. The video then became viral and was appreciated by many.

The new amended MV Act, which was imposed in India on 1st September 2019 has increased the fines by multiple folds. While the cops are using all their force in various states to impose the new rules and fines, there are many who still ignore the traffic rules and keep on driving in an illegal way. In India, motorists do not go the right way to save driving for a few hundred metres and due to this habit, numerous accidents have happened in the past. One should always follow the rules and be on the right lane and right side to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.

Maruti Baleno-challenging Tata Altroz premium hatchback to be launched in early 2020

$

0

The Altroz premium hatchback is among the most eagerly awaited upcoming vehicles from Tata. First shown as the 45X concept during the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the car was displayed at the 2019 Geneva motor show in a near-production form. Later, it was revealed that the Altroz would be launched by August-September this year. Now, the launch date has been postponed, say our sources at Tata. Tata now plans to launch the Altroz premium hatchback in early 2020, most probably in January. That is because Tata had earlier announced that the Altroz will be the official lead car of the Mumbai Marathon, which is scheduled to take place on 19th January. Hence, it will most probably be launched before that.

Tata Altroz In Red Featured

Talking about the Altroz, the premium hatchback will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, and the Toyota Glanza in the segment when launched. This will be Tata’s first take on the premium hatchback game and the manufacturer plans to take on the competition by equipping the Altroz with numerous features along with powerful engine options. A few spyshots of the hatchback that were leaked earlier had revealed that the cabin has a modern design and looks quite good.

The interiors are likely to be finished in black and grey while the top-end variants would have a blue accent running across the centre console. Tata is likely to offer soft-touch plastics on the car so as to make the cabin a more premium place to be in.  The instrument console will be an analogue-digital unit with the speedometer being an analogue unit and the tachometer being a digital unit. The steering wheel features the typical Tata design with audio controls on the left-hand side and cruise control on the right-hand side.

Tata Altroz In Red 2

As for the powertrains, it is expected that the Altroz will be offered with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine could be the 1.2-litre 3 cylinders turbocharged petrol engine from the Nexon, albeit in a lower state of tune so as to offer better fuel economy. The diesel engine is likely to be the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged motor from Nexon but again in a detuned state. Initially, Tata is likely to offer manual gearboxes with both engines with automatic options following later on.

When launched, the Altroz is expected to be priced in the Rs. 5-8 lakhs range. Tata has been positioning its products well of late and the same is expected to be the case with the Altroz. This will also be the first vehicle to be underpinned by the new ALFA platform from Tata which will also be used on several future vehicles like the Hornbill mini-SUV.

MS Dhoni spotted riding his Kawasaki H2 Superbike for the first time [Video]

Back in 2015, MS Dhoni became the first person to buy the Kawasaki Ninja H2 superbike in India a few weeks after it was launched. The bike has a price tag of Rs. 29 lakhs (ex-showroom) in 2015 and Dhoni posted a picture of the bike when it was delivered to him. However, despite his passion for motorcycles, our captain cool hasn’t been seen the riding the bike much. Now though, the former Indian skipper has been captured riding his beast while he was back to his home in Ranchi. Check out the video below which shows Dhoni riding out the Ranchi international cricket stadium in his black and green Kawasaki H2 superbike.

To let you know, the big Kawasaki H2 is among the most powerful and fastest road-legal motorcycles in the world right now. It has an even maniac twin which is called the H2R. The Kawasaki H2R is not road legal but is currently among the most brutal bikes one could own. Dhoni has always been a big fan of motorcycle and maintains an enviable collection of bikes. His collection includes the ultra-rare Confederate Hellcat X132 along with several other beauties like the Ducati 1098, Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R, Harley Davidson Fatboy, and Yamaha YZF600 Thundercat among others. He even has a few Yamaha RX100s, and RD350s, two bikes that are close to his heart.

Dhoni recently acquired a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk which is said to have costed him around Rs. 1.6 crores. This SUV is powered by a 6.2-litre Hellcat engine that produces a massive 707 Bhp and 875 Nm of peak torque. This makes it the most powerful SUV in India. Further, the car can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.62 seconds. However, it is not available for sale in India and Dhoni had to import it from the international markets. The captain cool was recently spotted riding this SUV for the first time since it was delivered to him last month.

Dhoni Ninja Featured

Talking about the Kawasaki Ninja H2, this bike features a supercharger to boost the power output of the motor and it’s the only supercharged mass production motorcycle on sale globally. Powering the Kawasaki Ninja H2 is a 998cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four motor churning out 200 PS at 11,000rpm and peak torque of 113.5Nm at 10,500rpm. There is also an option to add a Ram Air that hikes the power output to 210PS. The bike also uses a MotoGP style dog-ring transmission for effortless and quicker gear shifts short shifts. As mentioned above, Dhoni was the first person to get this bike after it was launched in India and till date, only a handful number of H2 are there in the country.

The bike’s styling is inspired by its evil twin Ninja H2R. The latter has a massive power output of 300 PS and features several changes compared to the H2 which make it a track-only bike. The H2 is also the first Kawasaki motorcycle to use a Trellis frame and single-sided swingarm. Simply put, the Kawasaki H2 is a technological and mechanical marvel, to say the least. The current ex-showroom cost of the bike in Delhi is Rs. 34.50 lakhs while the mad H2R costs Rs. 72 lakhs in Delhi (ex-showroom). We expect to see more of this bike as well as Dhoni riding it for his commute to the cricket stadium.

Race-spec MG Hector: Sportier version of the SUV rendered

$

0

MG Hector, the much-awaited SUV, which was launched earlier this year has become a blockbuster hit in the market. While MG Motors stopped taking the bookings due to the overwhelming response from the market soon after the launch of the product, there are many customers who are still in the waiting list to get the delivery of the car. MG Motors will soon start taking the bookings for the all-new Hector in the Indian market.

Hector 2

SUVs are built to be intimidating and the MG Hector is made just like that. It offers a large, intimidating design upfront while offering a dominating look on the roads. But what if MG Motors decides to make a sporty version of the Hector? What will it look like? Well, Pilot On Wheels has made a rendering image that imagines a sporty version of the Hector. It looks quite good and something that the rally drivers would love to drive.

The MG Hector racing edition comes closer to the ground, which suggests that the car gets lowering springs or even new suspension. The lower ground clearance ensures that the centre of gravity is lower and helps the vehicles to take high-speed corners without the effects of body roll. Vehicles that are taller and have a high ground clearance can face body roll on the corners, which makes the vehicles unstable. There is no such problem with this model though.

Also, the car gets a roof-mounted rear spoiler. Now, the rear spoiler is used to create downforce at high speed. It is aerodynamically designed to push the vehicle towards the ground, which creates more traction and ensures stability at high speeds. However, most roof-mounted spoilers that we see in the regular cars are just for aesthetic purposes. This one, however, will be functional and will be helpful in making the vehicle much more stable. Now coming to the tyres, we can see race-spec slick tyres, which will allow the car to stick to the tarmac at higher speeds. Slick tyres are used on the racing tracks and provide a high degree of traction. However, due to the high traction, the tyres wear off quicker. This is why they are not used on regular roads. Apart from these changes, the race-spec MG Hector also offers two good looking decals in these two rendered images.

EXCLUSIVE: Upcoming Renault Kwid pictures before the official launch

Renault Kwid turned out to be a grand success for the French manufacturer when it was initially launched in 2015. Since then, the segment has seen a lot of new launches that have followed the same muscular stance. Since it was first launched in the Indian market, Renault did not do many changes to the car. However, this time they are bringing a slew of changes to the car and it looks like a brand-new car altogether. We have exclusive pictures of the upcoming Kwid to show how it will look like in real life before the official launch of the car. The pictures are sent to us by our reader Harsh Nanavati.

Kwid 3

Just like the official teaser image released by Renault, the production version of the car looks stunning. It will get split headlamp set-up, which will be similar to the likes of Tata Harrier and newly launched Hyundai Venue. However, the Kwid will get the split headlamps for the first time in the segment.

Kwid 5

The pictures show that the car gets a sleek lamp that will become the DRL of the vehicle. The main headlamp cluster will be positioned below in the bumper. The DRL form the extended part fo the grille and add a very futuristic look to the vehicle.

Kwid 4

The new Kwid will also become quite muscular in terms of looks. It gets skid plate at the front and the rear. Also, there are orange highlights all over the vehicle including the housing of the headlamp cluster, skid plate and the ORVMs. It is not known if the same orange highlight will be seen on all the colour options of the car or Renault will use some other contrasting colour on the differently coloured Kwid. Nonetheless, it sure looks dominating and will attract a lot of attention on the roads.

Kwid 2

From the side, the Kwid looks similar to the current version of the car complete with the cladding on the wheel arches but the roof rail get the same orange highlights. Also, the rear gets a makeover with a tweaked bumper in place. Overall, the upcoming Kwid looks like a major upgrade and will push a lot of customers towards the entry-level hatchback.

Kwid 6

We have also received the pictures of the interior of the vehicle and this is the first time that we are getting to see what the cabin of the Kwid will look like. The orange highlights can be seen in the interior of the vehicle too and this version looks like the top-end variant that offers a touchscreen infotainment system.

Kwid 1

Renault is unlikely to change the engine options and will continue to offer the 0.8-litre engine that produces a maximum of 54 Bhp and 72 Nm and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit that produces a maximum of 67 Bhp and 91 Nm. The 1.0-litre engine option also gets an optional AMT automatic transmission.

It’s of no surprise that the Toyota Innova Crysta is hot property in the used car market. If you’re in the Delhi-NCR and want a used Innova Crysta that’s a lot cheaper than new but that’s under 3 years old and with under 60,000 Kms on the odometer, you’re in the right place.

Recommendation #1

2017 Toyota Innova Crysta at Rs. 14.35 lakhs

Toyota Innova Crysta Used 1

This example of the Innova Crysta is situated at Gurgaon, and is with its first owner. It’s done 60,000 Kms and seasoned buyers would know that 60,000 Kms is nothing for a well maintained Toyota car, which can do many times that figure without requiring major mechanical attention. This particular example is powered by a 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine that puts out 148 Bhp-343 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard, and the trim is VX, which means that it’s one step below the top-end trim.

Recommendation #2

2017 Toyota Innova Crysta at Rs. 14.35 lakhs

Toyota Innova Crysta Used 2

Here’s another example of the Innova Crysta from Gurgaon that’s virtually similar to the one above but for the mileage clocked. This one has done 42,000 Kms instead of the 60,000 Kms of the former, and the asking price is the same. If you actually evaluate both cars and find that they’re in similar mechanical conditions, buying this option would be better thanks to the lower mileage on the odometer.

Recommendation #3

2016 Toyota Innova Crysta at Rs. 16 lakhs

Toyota Innova Crysta Used 3

If you want a fully loaded example with all the safety features and creature comforts, the ZX trim is the one to opt for in the Innova Crysta line up. This example here is from Gurgaon, and is currently with its first owner. With 44,000 Kms on the odometer, this 7 seat people mover seems to have a long productive life ahead.

Recommendation #4

2016 Toyota Innova Crysta at Rs. 14.25 lakhs

Toyota Innova Crysta Used 4

If you don’t drive much, a petrol powered Innova Crysta would make more sense than a diesel powered one. Here’s one such example from Gurgaon, which is with its current owner. This petrol Innova has done 32,000 Kms, and is the VX trim. The seller claims that the MPV is in top condition with all service records. The 2.7 liter petrol engine makes 164 Bhp-245 Nm, and this particular example gets a 6 speed manual gearbox.

Recommendation #5

2016 Toyota Innova Crysta at Rs. 17.25 lakhs

Toyota Innova Crysta Used 5

If you want the frugality of a diesel and the convenience of an automatic in a fully loaded Innova Crysta, the 2.8 ZX AT trim is what you need to opt for. This is exactly what this 2016 Crysta is about. It’s with its first owner in Delhi, and has done 54,000 Kms. It seems to be in very good shape and gets a purple paint scheme that’s specific to the top-end trim.

Next-generation Tata Safari Storme: What it could look like [Video]

$

0

The Tata Safari is a household name in India as it is among the oldest SUV line to be in production in our country. The Safari was launched back in 1998 for the first time and has seen several updates over its lifetime since then. The last major update came in the form of the Safari Storme which was then followed by the introduction of the Varicor 400 engine. Now, Tata has a new full-size SUV in the pipeline which is being called the Buzzard/Cassini for now. Tata has adopted the IMPACT 2.0  design philosophy for its new cars and its new vehicle look pretty great too. But what if the good old Tata Safari Storme is given a major rehaul and a new model is launched in 2020 with the IMPACT 2.0 design on it. The video below by SRK Designs shows just that.

Now there is no official confirmation from Tata’s side whether there will be a new model of the Safari Storme in future or not. Moreover, a few reports have suggested that the iconic SUV is likely to be discontinued before the BSVI norms kick in from the 1st of April next year. So this render here does not show the upcoming Safari model but is just an artist’s take on what the Tata Safari Storme would look like with the IMPACT 2.0 sauce poured over it.

Talking about how it looks, we are actually impressed by this render. If this is how it could turn out to be, we would like Tata to reconsider its decision of discontinuing the Safari Storme. the front end carries a similar headlamp-LED DRL swapped design as seen on the Harrier. The black grille is also similar as is the bumper design. The scuff plate at the bottom seems inspired from the Tata H5X concept and looks pretty good on this Safari.

Tata Safari Render

The SUV now rides on huge stylish multispoke alloys shod on with low profile tires. The side design is somewhat the same as the current Safari Storme, albeit a bit more muscular as well as angular. The blacked-out pillars further add to the aesthetics of the car. Despite this Safari render showing us a possible design dimension which could insude a fresh lease of life in the SUV, it is unlikely that Tata will go for it. This is because the upcoming Buzzard will reduce the need of any other SUV in the automaker’s portfolio in the same price range.

While it would be tough to see the Safari go, the truth is that the vehicle has been showing its age for a few years now and for the same, its sales have dropped down by quite a margin. It is still a capable off-roader and we would like to see a 4×4 variant of the Buzzard for sure if the Safari Storme can’t be revived.

You CANNOT be fined for wearing slippers while riding/driving: Minister Gadkari

$

0

With the amended MV Act in place, there is a lot of uproar in the public. Many motorists have a fear of getting fined by the cops even when all the documents are in order. The government have even directed the states police forces not to stop any vehicle randomly for checking anymore but a lot of rumours have surfaced on the Internet in recent times. Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari recently posted a tweet saying that a lot of rumours have been floating around on the Internet and not all of them are true.

A slew of posts online saying that people who drive their cars or ride the two-wheelers with slippers are getting caught by the cops and it is illegal to do so. Other rumours are that the people who wear half shirts while riding will be fined by the cops and even wearing traditional clothes like dhoti is not allowed. While there is no news of people wearing slippers on bikes, we did a post sometime back saying that the cops will soon implement the rule and anyone wearing slippers on two-wheelers will be issued a fine of Rs 1,000. A few days back, a taxi driver was also fined in Jaipur for wearing slippers and keeping his shirt button unopened.

Well, Nitin Gadkari, who was the force behind the new MV Act has posted the tweet and clarified that no such absurd fines will be issued to the motorists. His list of offences includes “wearing the half shirt”, “wearing lungi or vest”, “not keeping an extra bulb in the car”, “keeping the windscreen dirty” and “wearing slippers while driving or riding”. Well, from now on, people can be sure of the fact that no cop will be able to issue a fine of these grounds to the motorists.

Chappal Fine Featured

The new MV Act has seen quite a few challans soon after its implementation where the fines have exceeded the value of the vehicle. The high amount of fine was introduced to ensure that the motorists adhere to the traffic laws strictly. However, due to the lack of awareness, many motorists started opposing it. Many states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and more have not implemented the new MV Act as is. Instead, these states are formulating new fines. The state governments of these aforementioned states claim that with the higher fine amounts, there will be a higher amount of corruption in the administration and cops will take bigger bribes from the motorists. A few days back, a sting operation by a TV channel found out that this claim is actually true and officials in Ghaziabad court are allegedly taking bribes of Rs 5,000 to nullify the challan amount of Rs 15,000. In the future, we do hope that the stricter laws make the roads a better place and force the motorists to stick to the rules and be safe on the roads.

Maruti Baleno RS gets a MASSIVE price cut: Rs. 2 lakh cheaper than VW Polo GT TSI

$

0

Maruti Suzuki has just slashed prices of the Baleno RS, the high performance trim in the premium hatchback’s line up. A screenshot from a Maruti dealer shows just this. While Maruti has cut prices of almost all its cars by Rs. 5,000, in an attempt to pass on some of the benefits of the corporate tax cut to customers, the Baleno RS is the car that gets the maximum benefit with the massive price drop of Rs. 1 lakh.

2019 Maruti Baleno Rs

The car now costs Rs. 8.89 lakhs, on-road Delhi, which makes it more than 2 lakhs cheaper than the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. When compared to the Tata Tiago JTP, the Baleno RS is still about Rs. 1.2 lakhs costlier. However, it’s a much larger car than the Tiago JTP, and also offers more features. All in all, the price cut should do its bit to boost sales of the Baleno RS, which has been a slow seller compared to the regular variants.

But why has Maruti cut prices so drastically?

Rumours suggest that it’s due to the upcoming Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) norms! Maruti Suzuki may not make the 1 liter-3 cylinder turbo petrol engine of the Baleno RS compliant with BS6 norms. What this means is, dealers will have to liquidate stocks of the car by April 1st 2020, following which the Baleno RS will no longer be registered at any RTO in India. To make sure that the car looks attractive enough to buyers, the automaker seems to have gone in for the steep price cut.

The Baleno RS is powered by a 1 liter-3 cylinder turbo petrol engine that puts out 101 Bhp-150 Nm. This is the only turbo petrol engine in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up. The gearbox on offer with this engine is a 5 speed manual unit. The Baleno RS is a light weight car that can hit the 100 Kph mark from standstill in about 10 seconds. This also makes it the quickest car in Maruti Suzuki’s Indian line-up. ABS and twin airbags are standard, and the car is based on the top-end Alpha trim of the Baleno. What this also means is that a slew of creature comforts are standard. From automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and projector headlamps to automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Baleno RS is a feature-rich car. The car is aimed at buyers who want a very quick, spacious family hatchback that’s backed by excellent after sales service.
