Upcoming 6 seat MG Hector spied testing for the first time

Morris Garage (MG) launched its first vehicle in India back this summer in the form of the Hector. The Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500 rivalling SUV has since been a hot-seller and given the manufacturer a good start in the Indian market. One of the various attractive aspects for Hector buyers is its size, which is among the best in the segment. It has been known since some time that MG is working on a bigger, 6-seater version of the Hector that will be its third launch in India after the e-ZS EV SUV is launched. Now, the six-seater Hector has been spotted testing for the first time on the Indian soil and the spy shots, courtesy Autocar India, reveal quite a bit of detail about the upcoming SUV.

Mg Hector 6 Seater Spyshot

Sharp-eyed readers might have already made out that the vehicle in the images here is slightly different from the regular Hector. The LED DRLs have a different arrangement which looks more stylish here and a larger front grille. Though the headlamps are partially visible, they also seem to feature a slightly different layout and have chrome surrounds all around them, unlike the 5-seat Hector. At the rear, the tail lamps design along with the bumper which seems to have been redesigned.

It is not confirmed yet whether the 6-seat Hector will have the exact same dimensions as the 5-seat Hector or will be a bit larger than it. The latter will be the case with the upcoming 7-seat version of the Harrier, which was showcased at the Geneve Motor Show earlier this year. The Baojun 530, which is the SUV on which the HEctor is based, was recently facelifted for the Chinese markets and now is 40 mm longer than the pre-facelift model. Same could be the case with the 6-seat Hector since it features updated front and rear bumper among other changes.

Mg Hector 6 Seater Spyshot2

Talking about the cabin of the upcoming 6-seat Hector, the biggest difference will be the presence of captain seats in the middle. MG has chosen to go for the more luxurious 6-seat design with captain seats in the middle instead of the regular 7-seat layout and this could be because of the buyer segment the manufacturer is targeting. Other changes on the vehicle include new alloy wheels, a few interior tweaks, and probably some new features. Powering the 6-seat Hector will be the same 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine along with the 48V mild-hybrid version of the turbo-petrol engine. All of them will be BS6-compliant at launch. MG has priced the Hector quite well and the same could be expected for this one too, which will be chiefly pitted against the 7-seat Tata Harrier when it gets launched.

Tesla police car runs out of POWER while chasing criminal: Chase called off

Electric cars are fast catching up with Internal Combustion engine powered regular cars in almost all aspects and then some. In fact, EVs are claimed to be cleaner, silent, and even quicker than the conventional ICE cars which have been around for more than a century now. However, EVs are not yet ready to replaced ICE cars on a full-fledged level globally as they are held back by one of their basic drawbacks, which is charging time and low range. The same was experienced by a cop from the Fremont Police Department’s while he was in pursuit of a criminal.

The cop was driving a 2014 Tesla Model S 85, which is among the lower end variants of the Model S range. While patrolling, he attempted a stop on a suspect but the latter took off as soon as he sensed a cop on his heels. This started a chase which lasted for, well just a few minutes. According to the police department of Fremont, the cop realised while chasing the suspect that there were only six miles of charge left on his Tesla and that too for regular speeds and not high-speed driving. He broadcasted the same on the radio and thankfully, other police units were following behind to assist and ultimately took over the pursuit. However,  the chase was called off after 10 minutes for safety reasons and while the police did find the car later on, the suspect managed to escape.

Police Tesla 2

This is probably the first such case where a police officer had to abandon a chase due to the vehicle getting discharged. While we have nothing against Tesla and appreciate the company’s serious efforts to push the EV envelope higher up, something like this was bound to happen. Normal police vehicles do have a rule about how much minimum fuel they should be having in the tank.

The general guideline is that it should at least be half full at the beginning of the shift. According to the Fremont police department, this particular Tesla adhered to the same but at the time of the chase, it ran out of juice. To let you know, these Tesla cars are with the Fremont Police for a 6-month long pilot program which aims to test the integration of the Tesla with the department. All the data is recorded and analyzed for the same.

Police Tesla

In past, there have been a few cases where car thieves were caught because the EV they stole ran out of charge midway through the chase. In this case, though, the criminal got lucky and escaped a possible sentence. There have been instances where even regular ICE police cars too had to abandon a chase due to low fuel but such cases are rare. Police forces of several countries have started using EVs on experimental bases in their fleet and this will definitely come as a reminder for them to set clear rules for a minimum battery charge on a police EV.

In future, EVs will have a much better range as compared to the present day EVs and that would be a time where we would have to bid a painful but much-needed goodbye to ICE cars. In fact, future EVs may not run on a power source such as Li-ion batteries as several other technologies like fuel cells have been successful in getting even better results.

The auto industry has been witnessing a massive slowdown for the past couple of months. The upcoming Diwali festive season, however, is being seen as a time which could help lift the gloomy clouds from the fate of dealers as well as manufacturers. For the same, auto companies are offering huge discounts over their model lineup and even dealerships are not behind in offering special incentives. But a Tata dealer in Madhya Pradesh takes gets the honour of offering one of the most tempting and ludicrous deals this festive season. This Tata dealership is offering a free Honda scooter to those who buy the selected Tata models during the offer period.

Tata Car Free Scooter

The cars on which this offer is being dished out include the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. The offer is available up till September 30, which means not much time is left before this crazy deal goes away. Do note that this is not an official offer by Tata but a dealer specific order in order to beat the slowdown blues. In fact, the current state of the automotive sector has resulted in a lot of dealerships being closed down due to continuous losses. The auto companies have also regularly halted production for brief periods of time so as to avoid an inventory pileup.

Therefore, the upcoming Diwali festive season will see a lot more of such fantastic deals being offered by companies and dealers in a bid to revive sales. Tata’s official offers for its cars are also quite good as the manufacturer is offering discounts upto Rs. 1.50 lakh on its model lineup. The car being offered on discount include the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Hexa, and the Harrier. The discount schemes, termed the ‘Festival of Cars’, include a total discount of Rs. 70,000 on the Tiago and Rs. 1.15 lakh on the Tigor. Further, the Nexon is getting discounts worth up to Rs 85,000, the Harrier with Rs 50,000 benefit scheme, and the Hexa with Rs 1.5 lakh benefit scheme.

Tata Harrier Dark Edition 1

The coming month of October is likely to bring even bigger discount schemes on the plate as Dussehra and Diwali, both of which are major festivals, are occurring next month. As always, the Diwali festive season has been one of the best months for car and bike sales and the manufacturers are hoping that this year would be no different.

In the coming time, Tata will launch several new models so as to increase its market presence as well as sales. First among them will be the Altroz premium hatchback, which is expected to be launched in January and will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz among others. The Altroz will be Tata’s first car to use the ALFA platform and will get powered by Nexon’s engines, albeit in a different state of tune. Following the Altroz will be the launch of the much-awaited 7-seater Harrier SUV, which could be called Cassini. It is longer and taller than the Harrier but will use the same platform and engine, albeit in a more powerful state of tune. Apart from these, Tata is working on two new SUVs that could be launch by the end of 2020 or 2021. One of the is a micro-SUV codenamed the Hornbill while the other is a Hyundai Creta challenging compact SUV codenamed the Blackbird.

Used BMW 3-Series for sale at less than a Maruti Swift

$

The BMW 3-series is the most affordable sedan in India by the German manufacturer. It rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE, and the Audi A4 among others. The stylish sedan though has a big price tag making it suitable for only those who have deep pockets. Now, however, you can buy a BMW 3-Series sedan for less than the price of a new Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback. That’s right, a BMW 3-series for less than even the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Well, the blue 3-series featured here can be had yours for just Rs. 4.85 lakhs, which makes it a decent deal.

Bmw 3 Series Used

This navy blue shade 3-Series is the 320i variant. It is a 2007 made model and is available for sale in Bengaluru at an asking price of just Rs. 4.85 lakhs. Now that is quite a low price for this car and according to its seller, the car is being sold as the owner is going abroad. The advertisement also says that it is owned by a doctor and has been serviced at the official service centres. This also means that the service history of this car might be available and hence, do ask for its service history if you are interested in the car.

Moving on, the car is not exactly in a pristine condition but going by its age, it has been maintained well. German cars from the likes of BMW among others are built pretty solidly can go on for lakhs of kilometres without any issues. Speaking of kilometres, the seller of this car has not disclosed the odometer reading of the car so we can’t tell you how much it has been used. What we can tell you though is that the 320i variant is powered by a  1995cc, 4 Cylinders petrol engine that churns out 156 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm of torque. This engine came mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and delivered an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 8.8 km/l when new. So it has adequate power for its size and while it won’t set your pulses racing, it won’t feel sluggish too.

Being a BMW car, the interiors of this car are also nicely specced and well laid out. The seller has not posted a picture of the interiors though and hence we suggest that you check the car completely once. In fact, before buying any used car, make sure you do a complete check of the car and take a drive so as to be sure about it. It is always better to take a qualified local mechanic to inspect the car thoroughly.

Kia Carnival launch timeline REVEALED!

$

Kia Motors India recently made headlines after its debut product, the Seltos compact SUV crossed the 40,000 bookings mark in just a month after its launch. To let you know, Kia registered around 6,000 bookings for the Seltos on the very first day of commencement of its bookings. Now, the South Korean manufacturer is looking forward towards launching its second vehicle in India, which in all likeliness will be the Carnival MPV. It has been spotted testing on our soil a lot of times till date and now the automaker has revealed its launch date.

Kia Carnival 2

During an interview with ET Auto, Manohar Bhatt, National Head, Sales & Marketing, Kia Motors India, said:

“You can expect our next vehicle during the upcoming Auto Expo in January. It could be an MPV. We are looking very closely at that, it will be tailor-made suiting that segment customers.”

The 2020 New Delhi Auto Expo is scheduled to start by the end of the first week in February, so that’s exactly when the Carnival will be launched. Not only this, but Bhatt also shared that Kia will introduce one product every six months. The future plan of the manufacturer is to launch up to 5 new cars in the Indian market that will be positioned in different segments and price ranges. Apart from the Seltos and the Carnival, the upcoming cars could be the Telluride and Sorento (SUVs), Soul & Niro (EVs and hybrids), and the Stinger sedan, though they are not confirmed yet.

Talking about the upcoming Kia Carnival, the large MPV will chiefly rival the Toyota Innova Crysta but will sit a bit higher than it in terms of pricing. Compared to the Innova Crysta, the Carnival will also be bigger in size and comes with sliding rear doors. Internationally, the Carnival is available with several seating options including a 7-seater, 8-seater, 9-seater and 11-seater version. However, the Indian market is expected to get only the 7-seater version with captain seats in the middle

Grand Carnival 2

The interiors will be pretty well laid out and the Carnival that will be launched in India will probably be a facelifted version of the MPV. This is because Kia earlier said that India will only get all-new models or facelifts models. The international spec Carnival gets a ton of features including a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-zone climate control along with safety features like ABS+ESP, traction control, hillside assist, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, dusk-sensing headlamps, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking and forward-collision warning etc. As for the engine options on the Indian spec Carnival, it could be powered by an R 2.2 E-VGT diesel engine that puts out 199 Bhp of power at 3,800 rpm along with 441 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm. This engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Used Car Buyers’ Guide

Maruti Baleno: Know the car

The Baleno is Maruti’s ticket in the premium hatchback market in the country. Rubbing shoulders with the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz, the Baleno’s prices start at Rs 5.5 lac, about 10% higher than its launch price of Rs 4.99 lac way back in October 2015. The Baleno is sold via Maruti’s premium network of showrooms under the Nexa brand name. This premium hatchback has been a best seller in its category thanks to its stand-out design, features, easy driving and engine options that are frugal and yet offer good performance. The car is still in its first generation in the Indian car market but sales continue to remain high.

Brief history of the Maruti Baleno in India

Maruti launched the Baleno premium hatchback in October 2015 and since its launch, both 1.2 petrol and 1.3 diesel units have been on offer. The former also comes with an optional CVT automatic transmission option. A sportier RS variant was introduced in March 2017 and this comes with a turbo-charged 1.0 petrol. Maruti added a new CVT versions (Alpha) in July 2017 while a limited edition model was put on sale in Sep’18.

Jan’19 is when the Baleno got its first facelift which also came with a new design for the alloy wheels. Months later in April 2019, Maruti introduced a new petrol motor, the dual jet 1.2 that offers even better performance.

The car is still in its first generation but continues to look premium.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback: Typical New Buyer Profile

The Baleno is aimed at young enthusiasts who seek a premium hatchback that matches their lifestyle. For them, a car they drive is an extension of their personality. Most of these buyers are successful in their own fields and seek a car that is modern, feature loaded and has a proper premium tag attached to it.

Another set of buyers are the ones graduating up from a smaller hatchback and are looking for a car that offers far more space, an upmarket feel and most importantly, is still easier on the pocket in terms of maintenance costs.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback: Typical Used Car Buyer Profile

A used Maruti Baleno is aimed at buyers who have the budget of a (new) entry level hatchback but wish to own a much bigger car, one that gives them a higher social status in the society. For example, while a brand new Maruti Alto K10 will cost about Rs 4.5 lac on-road, the same price can get you a less used 3-4 year old Maruti Baleno easily.

The used Baleno is also on the radar of young individuals who want to own their first personal set of wheels, one that matches their personality and will up their ante in the immediate circle of friends and relatives.

A used Maruti Baleno RS is also preferred by enthusiast due to the effortless performance on offer. Likewise, the CVT automatic Baleno is a perfect fit for those who want a used automatic hatchback.

Key positives of the Maruti Baleno

Maruti Baleno Interrior Buyers Guide

The Maruti Baleno offers ample space for five adults and yet comes with a boot large enough for three large suitcases. Space for sure is one of its USP. Next, both the engine offer excellent fuel economy while delivering strong performance. The new 1.2 dual-jet motor further improves on these parameters. While its handling characteristics aren’t too sporty, it does ease of driving due to light controls.

In terms of features, the Baleno scores high marks too and the list is on far with its chief rivals. Ditto for the modern LCD display in the speedometer console that showcases an array of information, including power and torque graphs. Comfort factor also remains high which makes it a good car for family use.

Key negatives of the Maruti Baleno

If you are looking at thrills, the Baleno might disappoint you due to its neutral steering and handling. Such customers should look at the Volkswagen Polo. Likewise, build quality is light and though this helps in performance and fuel economy, you do feel the lightness at higher speeds and over broken roads. And while we like the cabin for space and features, it does lack the quality of say the Jazz or the i20. And if we may add, there is no optional automatic on the diesel just yet.

The ideal used Maruti Baleno you can buy

The Baleno has been on sale for four years in India and most of these aren’t used too much on a monthly basis. This means even the 2015 used examples will have, on an average, about 40,000 to 50,000 km on the odometer. These are the ideal examples to look out for incase you have a limited budget of Rs 4-5 lac. The sportier RS version however was launched in July 2017 and are usually hard to find in the used car market.

Buying older and newer used Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchbacks

As discussed above, the Baleno is just four years old in India car industry. Given the sheer number of units sold every month, its easy to get hold of a used example from any year or any fuel type. The age of a used Baleno finally boils down to your budget.

Used Maruti Suzuki Baleno for enthusiasts?

Though the Baleno isn’t an enthusiast car due to its neutral handling, the RS variant, with a turbocharged petrol unit does offer a lot of extra power and torque over the normal petrol model. This alone makes it so much better in terms of thrills.

Buying Advice

What you should be aware of, and typical problems for a used Maruti Baleno

The Maruti Baleno has been subjected to multiple recalls and these should be check for in the used model to opt to go for. These recalls were issues in:
1) May 2016 : units made from Aug’15 to March’16 for faulty Airbags
2) May 2018 : units made from Dec’17 to March’18 for a faulty brake vacuum hose
3) Feb 2019 : units made from Dec’18 to Feb’19 for updating the Actuator Assembly ABS software

Apart from this, some owners of the earlier models sold in 2015 and 2016 have complained of rear suspension issues in terms of the comfort factor. Apart from this, the Baleno remains a trouble free car in the long run.

Used Baleno Boot Space

Recall related issues are always taken care of by the companies and do make sure if the car you are keen on buying was part of the a recall, it was taken to an authorised workshop to carry out the required activity.

For ABS and Airbag issues, its a good idea to keen an eye on any warning icons in the speedometer console when the car is running.
Do make sure you include broken roads and undulations while test driving a used Baleno so that you can judge the ride quality accordingly.

Expected service costs for a used Maruti Maleno

Routine service cost for the Maruti Baleno isn’t too high and this car will not be burning a hole in your pocket. Expect to pay roughy Rs 4000-6000 for servicing that is required every 10,000km. That said, sorting our rear suspension issues could cost more and ditto for a clutch that needs replacement. Always ensure the used Maruti Baleno you are eyeing has a proper service record in place.

Expected real-world fuel economy for a used Baleno

The 1.2 petrol on the Baleno delivers an easy 13-14 kmpl in city usage – this only if the higher gears are used. Out on open roads, the same figure goes over 20 kmpl at speeds of 85-90 km/h. The CVT automatic is as efficient as its manual sibling.

The diesel Baleno scores top marks for efficiency, delivering 16+ kmpl for city runs. If you ensure usage of higher gears, the same figure jumps to 18-20 kmpl. At under 90 km/h, the car will do over 25 kmpl on highway runs.

Maintenance and Service Tips for Used Maruti Baleno

As the regular service cost of a Baleno isn’t too high, we suggest you stick to authorised workshops in the long run. This is even more important for those used models that are still under warranty.

Maruti Baleno Used Car: What to Avoid

You may keep away from the models that were part of the recall but weren’t taken by their owners for an inspection. Other than this, no particular batch of production has reported major issues.

The ideal Used Maruti Baleno You Can buy

Ideally, a late 2016 model that is about 3 years old and might have stock warranty left is an ideal model. A petrol Baleno of this year will have about 30000-40000km on the odometer while a diesel one might have around 50,000km. This isn’t a high value and the car will offer you trouble free run for years to come.

Our recommendations

As the Baleno is sold via Nexa showrooms, it comes with ABS and Airbags as standard across the version line-up. It is also an international model, made in India and exported internationally which means safety isn’t an issue at all.

What Alternatives

A used Hyundai i20 is a natural alternative to a used Baleno. It offers a better cabin in terms of quality and also has a smoother diesel unit.

Another alternative to a used Maruti Baleno is a pre-owned Honda Jazz. It offers more space, versatile interiors and due to lower demand, will be available in lesser amount.

For those looking at thrills, a used Volkswagen Polo is the pick. It has less cabin space but the GT TDI or the GT TSI models make up by offering better performance and dynamics.

The Jaguar XJ is the flagship sedan from the British manufacturer. It rivals the likes of the Mercedes Benz S-Class, the Audi A8L and the BMW 7-Series among others in the segment and is known to be one of the most luxurious as well as stylish saloons to move around in. However, buying a new Jaguar XJ will easily set you back by more than Rs. 1 crore, so that option goes out of the window almost instantly. But what if we say that you can own an ultra-luxurious, 5,000 petrol engine powered Jaguar XJ for less than the price of a brand new Honda Civic. That’s right, because the video below by My Country My Ride shows a pre-owned Jaguar XJ L luxury saloon that is up for sale at an asking price of just Rs. 19.5 lakhs! Check out the video below to see the interiors and exteriors of the car in detail.

As the video above shows, this Jaguar XJ L is one big sedan that is fit for kings. At an asking price of Rs. 19.5 lakhs though, it becomes an absolute steal and if you have been planning on buying a luxury car, maybe this one is the deal for you. It is a 2010 model Jaguar XJ L draped in all black. The car runs on 19-inch alloy wheels and has a 520-litre boot space. As for the odometer reading of this beast, it has covered around 33,000 km which is quite less even for a car like it.

As seen in the video, the car looks pretty well-maintained. Both the interiors and the exteriors of the car are in quite a good condition but for those who may seriously consider buying this car, do give it a thorough check as one can’t be sure of a used car. Talking about the exteriors, this Jaguar XJ L is much longer than the regular XJ as it is the long-wheelbase version of the car. Talking about the dimensions of the 2010 model Jaguar XJ L V8, it measures 5,247 mm in length, 2,110 mm in width and 1,448 mm in height along with having a wheelbase of 3,157 mm.

It has an aluminium monocoque chassis that is clothed in aluminium panels, all of which translated into a kerb weight of just 1773 kg. That’s not all though, as this car comes with really accurate and communicative steering. In fact, Jaguar equipped the same steering rack on the 2010 XJ L V8 as on XFR super-saloon which means driving this car is quite fun. Don’t expect it to behave like a sports car though.

Used Jaguar Xj Featured

The inteiros are draped in high-quality materials like leather and wood. Despite being a 2010 model, the Jaguar XJ L comes with enough toys to beat any car at the price range it is being offered in and even several notches above. Some of its features include a massive panoramic sunroof, electric front and rear seats with memory and massage functions, large infotainment system, digital instrument panel display, and surround camera system among others.

Powering this beast is a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that churns out a meaty 385 Bhp of power at 6000 rpm along with a mind-numbing amount 625 Nm of maximum torque at 2500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels of this mammoth.

So if you have been looking for a luxury car to buy, this one is a good choice for you. One important aspect to consider here is that the maintenance and service cost of this Jaguar XJ L will be much higher than the Honda Civic or any other car in the Rs. 20-25 lakh price bracket. Therefore, go for it only if you can afford to maintain it or else the car will burn a hole in your pocket every time it goes for servicing. Check the video description of the video in Youtube to contact the seller of this car.

Hyundai Verna has been a popular vehicle among the people who are passionate about modifying vehicles. It is a sedan with too many modification possibilities and we have seen some great examples of tastefully modified Verna’s around the country in the past. Here is another example of modified Hyundai Verna.

This modification is based on the current generation Verna. The video has been uploaded by Automobiles Informant Vlogs , and it explains all the modifications done to the exterior of the car. One of the most attractive factor in this Verna is its paint scheme. The black paint job gives it a mean look and the owner has also done ceramic coating on it. This protects the paint and gives it an extra glossy effect on the top.

The owner has also opted for an RS grille at the front which gives it a sportier appeal. It also gets an aftermarket LED headlamp. Coming down towards the front bumper, an aftermarket LED DRL is installed in the fog lamp area which doubles up as turn indicators also. Profile of  the car is kept clean without much changes. The only change that one would notice are the golden colored, 17 inch, BBS multi-spoke alloy wheels with low profile tyres. The golden alloys look great and give this Verna a different identity altogether.

Hyundai Verna Modified Featured

Coming to the rear, the Verna badging has been taken off and chrome on Hyundai logo has also been removed. The tail lamps get smoked up effect and there is an LED strip at the rear reflector area. This Verna also gets a rear diffuser which adds up to the sporty attitude of the car.

Hyundai Verna comes with a variety of engine options. The video does not mention the variant. The Verna sold in India is now available with four engine options: a 1.4 liter petrol with 99 Bhp-132 Nm outputs and a 6 speed manual gearbox, a 1.6 liter petrol engine with 121 Bhp-151 Nm outputs, and 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options, a 1.4 liter turbocharged diesel with 89 Bhp-220 Nm and a 6 speed manual gearbox, and a 1.6 liter turbocharged diesel engine with 126 Bhp-260 Nm, and 6 speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

The engine-gearbox combinations offered on the Verna are the highest in segment, and this gives the buyer a lot of choice. The main rivals of Hyundai Verna are Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Verna’s base variant is very attractively priced, and it undercuts both the facelifted Maruti Ciaz and the Honda City.

The new Dominar also gets a new twin-barrel exhaust that completely changes the way Dominar sounds and makes the exhaust note much deeper.

The Bajaj Pulsar Range is also quite popular in the Indian market and it has a cult following. It can be called as a bike that changed the motorcycle culture in the country. Indian bikers BUSTED by China police: Here’s why [Video]

Going on a long biking trip to the Himalayas with a group of friends is probably one of the best things to do if you are a biking enthusiast. For the same, a lot of bikers go to Leh-Ladakh and the Himalayas in Nepal to witness the beauty of nature and get away from the usual hustle-bustle of life. To let you know, the Himalayan mountain ranges have some of the highest motorable roads in the world with the Khardung La pass being the highest motorable road of all. But things can go south in these areas pretty easily if you don’t mind your surroundings. The video below by Bulu Patnaik shows what happens when a group of bikers unknowingly end up riding into a neighbouring country while exploring the uncharted territory.

The video here shows a bunch of bikers from India on an adventurous biking spree across the Himalayas in Nepal. During one part of their trip, these bikers go to the Kora La mountain pass situated between Tibet and Upper Mustang. Now Tibet comes under Chinese jurisdiction and while one may not have any issues with going to Nepal from India, the same is not the case if you cross into Tibet without valid documentation. Engrossed in their own gala time, these bikers didn’t realise that they crossed into the Chinese territory while shooting videos and clicking pictures.

However, they realised about something is not right when an SUV approached them quickly with a bunch of Chinese soldiers in it. This was followed by two soldiers marching their way to the bikers and interrogating them about why they were here and what was their purpose. On getting to know that they just breached the Chinse territory, the bikers apologised immediately and said that they didn’t know that this was the other side of the border. There was a milestone which marked the line of control between Nepal and China and the bikers thought that the Chinse border started from the fenced lines situated a bit farther away.

Indian Bikers Busted China Featured

The Chinese army personnel then asked them to remove all the photos and videos the bikers had clicked on the Chinse territory. The bikers did the same immediately and led the Chinese army guys to believe that only one of them was taking pictures and videos of the place. This is how the video you see above was saved. For the uninitiated, Kora La or Korala is a mountain pass between Tibet and Upper Mustang. It is only 4,660 metres (15,290 ft) in elevation, it has been considered the lowest drivable path between Tibetan Plateau and Indian subcontinent. It is currently being planned as a vehicle border crossing between China and Nepal.

We advise all our readers and fellow enthusiasts out there to keep all the relevant documents with them when going to places other than India, even if its a friendly neighbour country like Bhutan or Nepal among others. Also, always be aware of your surroundings on foreign land as you might not be as lucky as these guys. While the police/army of the other country won’t harm you, they can still detain you for a few hours which is an unpleasant experience for sure. Best is to stay clear of borders and even if you go there, don’t be that daredevil to cross it just like that.

Taxi driver without documents dares cops to catch him if they can: Caught & JAILED

The increase of fines and penalties under the amended Motor Vehicle Act has resulted in a ton of cases where people were heavily fined for flouting traffic rules. Everyone from regular commuters and tourists to cab and truck drivers have been penalised heavily if found not following the regulations. In a recent incident, a cab driver from Kolar, Karnataka, was jailed by the cops after he released a video in which he challenged the cops to catch if they can. In the video, he said that he has been driving around in Bengaluru without the necessary documents. The video below by Public TV | ಪಬ್ಲಿಕ್ ಟಿವಿ shows the before and after scenario after the man was put behind the bars.

During the first part of the video, the man, who works as a cab driver, is seen abusing and challenging the cops to take action against him. The video became viral on social media and even a few cops saw it, which later led to him being nabbed. Named Ravi, he is a resident of Machubayanahalli village of Hunsur Taluk in Mysore district. He challenged the police to arrest him since he was angry with traffic cops who assaulted and abused a fellow van driver whom he knew. The treatment meted out to his fellow drive friend by the cops was the reason behind his move.

In the angry selfie video he made while sitting in his car, the man said that he is a cabbie and has been driving in Bangalore without any papers (RC, DL etc). He said that he has no record of the car he drives. He then went on to abuse the cops and dares them to catch him if they can. After around two days of his posting the video on social media, the cops nabbed him and put him behind the cars for driving without papers. While the police might have been a bit harsh on his friend, calling the cops out through a video and telling them about your illegal acts is certainly not a wise thing to do. Moreover, challenging the cops to arrest you over your illegal deeds is something that is a sure-shot way of landing behind the bars.

Of late, there have been a lot of protests about the amended Motor Vehicle Act. Several states have even stopped the implementation of the new fines and penalties while a few other states have reduced the fines. Driving without insurance now will set you back by Rs. 2,000. Also, driving without a licence now attracts a fine of Rs. 5,000 compared to the earlier fine of Rs. 500. Talking about the amended MV Act, it now also includes compensation of Rs.5 lakhs for death and Rs. 2.5 lakhs for grievous injuries in the event of an accident. Some of the major offences and their fines include Rs. 10,000 fine for driving despite disqualification, Rs.10,000 for not giving way to emergency vehicles, Rs.1,000-Rs.2,000 for over-speeding and Rs. 2,000 fine for driving without insurance.

Also, the amended MV Act now has provisions to fine traffic personals and road contractors. For instance, if a police officer is found guilty of any offence under the Motor Vehicle Act, he will have to chuck out double the amount than what is mentioned for civilians. Some of the other fines that have been increased substantially now include riding without a helmet (Rs.1,000 and 3 months suspension of license), juveniles caught riding/driving (guardian/vehicle owner responsible with a fine of Rs. 25,000 and cancelling of registration) and drunk driving (Rs. 10,000).

Tata Motors is working on a facelifted Nexon, and the sub-4 meter compact SUV will be launched next year. Test mules of the facelifted Nexon have been spotted testing in various parts of India. Here is one such Nexon spotted in Manali, a town in the higher reaches of the Western Himalayas. Car makers routinely carry out high altitude testing of their vehicles in and around the Ladakh and Spiti regions, and it’s common to spot test mules in this part of India. The Nexon Facelift was also being tested, and the spyshots we have managed to get for you indicate that the facelifted version of the sub-4 meter compact SUV will get new headlamps and a restyled front end. Styling at the rear is also likely to get a big makeover while the interiors are expected to look fresher than before. A bunch of feature additions are also likely.

Tata Nexon Facelift Spyshot 1

Along with the facelift, Tata Motors will give the Nexon compact SUV Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2 liter turbo charged triple cylinder petrol engine that puts out 108 Bhp-170 Nm will be carried over with BS6 certification. This engine is likely to carry over the 6 speed manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT) that it shares with the diesel powered model.

The diesel motor – a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged unit with 108 Bhp-250 Nm – will also become BS6 compliant, and continue with the same gearboxes as the petrol version. Tata Motors is also working on an all-electric version of the Nexon, which is likely to be showcased at the upcoming 2020 Indian Auto Expo. The Nexon’s all-electric variant is also expected to get similar styling cues as the facelifted version.

A speculative render of the facelifted Tata Nexon

Tata Motors’ high performance Jayem-Tata Special Vehicles (JSTV) division is said to be working on a high performance version of the Nexon. A launch timeline has not been specified yet for the Nexon JTP. The Nexon has been Tata Motors’ best selling SUV ever since it was introduced a couple of years ago. Despite a steep increase in competition, the Nexon has managed to average about 4,000 monthly units as sales each month. The upcoming, facelifted version should do its bit to keep the sales momentum going.

Tata Nexon Facelift Spyshot 2

Meanwhile, Tata Motors has also been testing BS6 variants of a range of cars including the upcoming Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. All three cars were also spotted at Manali, alongside the facelifted Nexon.
