How about a well maintained Volkswagen Phaeton luxury saloon for less than the price of a Vento sedan? This is just what we have for you today. Check it out. This Volkswagen Phaeton is a 2010 model, and has valid insurance upto December 2019. It’s still with its first owner and the asking price is Rs. 13 lakhs, which makes it cheaper than the top-end petrol-automatic Vento TSI, priced at Rs. 17.23 lakhs for the GT Line trim. In fact, even the cheapest petrol automatic TSI Volkswagen Vento sells for Rs. 14 lakhs, making it a pricier than this super luxury Phaeton. This Phaeton has covered 51,080 Kms, which is nothing for the understressed petrol V6 engine it’s powered by.

Volkswagen Phaeton Used 6

Decades ago, the head of the Volkswagen group and Ferdinand Porsche’s grandson, Ferdinand Piech, sat down at the drawing board to design a car to be Volkswagen’s flagship sedan, the Phaeton was born. Volkswagen even introduced the Phaeton luxury saloon in India, as its flagship model that was priced at about Rs. 80 lakhs.

However, the car bombed spectacularly as it just couldn’t wean away Mercedes Benz S-Class and Audi A8 buyers. What this meant was, Volkswagen had to sell the leftover stock of the Phaeton imported into India at massive discounts of over 20 lakhs per car. All this has resulted in rock bottom resale value for the Phaeton, an excellent car that’s really built to last, a long, long time.

Volkswagen Phaeton Used 5

Going into the specifications of this Phaeton, it’s powered by a 3.6 liter V6 naturally aspirated, direct injection (FSI) petrol engine that produces 276 Bhp of peak power and 370 Nm of peak torque. The car can hit 100 Kph from standstill in just 8.6 seconds while top speed is an electronically limited 250 Kph.

Volkswagen Phaeton Used 2

The gearbox is a 6 speed torque converter automatic unit, again built to last, and help this car perform well as a relaxed mile muncher. Fast, very comfortable, built to last, and of course very rare, that’s the Volkswagen Phaeton for you. Interested to buy this one?

Volkswagen Phaeton Used 3

Well, you need to contact Salman from Mumbai on 7718888486. You could also send him a direct message on Facebook. Here is the original listing of this large and luxurious car, which is the finest that Volkswagen offered to Indian buyers under its own badge. For those who aren’t aware, the Volkswagen Phaeton is essentially an Audi A8 with significant re-engineering for quieter performance, longevity, reliability and a solid build.

Harrier has been a game changer in the SUV segment for Tata Motors ever since launch. It was one of the most anticipated models from Tata Motors. Tata showcased Harrier as a concept in 2018 Indian Auto Expo and launched the model earlier this year. Tata Harrier became popular among people because of its distinctive design language and its butch SUVish looks. Now Tata has released a new TVC for Harrier. Let’s take a look at the video first.

The TVC starts with a maid cleaning utensils and putting them on the wrong shelf. As soon as she put it their the lady in the room tells her to move the plates from that shelf as they would fall. The maid continues to clean other plates and the plate on the shelf falls and breaks. it initially looks like as if the maid was in a hurry and was not listening to the owner of the house.

Later, it is clear from the video that she is not talking in the video at all and she is deaf and dump. As the maid can’t hear and speak anything there is a communication gap between the two parties. so they decide to take her to a sign language coaching centre, so that the maid can communicate with others in a better way. They take the maid to the sign language coaching centre in their own Tata Harrier. Tata Motors has named this TVC ‘Language of Humanity #AboveAll’.

Tata Harrier New Tvc

Talking about the specs of the Harrier. It is powered by a 2 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine with 140 Bhp-350 Nm of torque. A 6 speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels. Tata is expected to launch a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox option in the same engine by the end of this year. It will again in turn boost  up the sales of this SUV .

Tata Motors has also recently launched a special edition of the Harrier which they call the ‘Dark Edition’. It is Harrier with a mean black paint job with all chrome and silver inserts removed. Tata Motors is also expected to roll out a more powerful state of tune for the 2 liter diesel engine when it is made Bharat Stage compliant. The Harrier BS6 is likely to make 170 Bhp-350 Nm, which is the same state of tune in which it is offered with the Jeep Compass Diesel BS6 model. These changes will come with a significant price increase though. Tata Motors will also launch a 7-seater version of Harrier named Buzzard which is likely to be called Cassini in Indain market by the first quarter of 2020.

MG Hector prices hiked by up Rs. 42,000 even as bookings reopen

$

MG Motor made a big splash a few months ago by launching the Hector SUV at a very competitive starting price tag of Rs. 12.18 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.  The sharp price tag attracted a lot of buyers and demand was such that MG Motor had to soon stop bookings for the SUV. Now though, the automaker has reopened bookings for the Hector SUV, and along with that, has given it a price hike of up to Rs. 42,000 (2.5 % of the original price) depending on the variant chosen. Bookings are now open at all MG Motor dealerships across the country, and the booking amount is pegged at Rs. 50,000. Production of the Hector has been doubled to 3,000 units/month, and this means that the waiting times should not very high going forward. The Hector is MG Motor’s first vehicle for the Indian market, and soon, the automaker will launch an-all electric SUV called the eZS.

8mg Hector Petrol Dct Automatic

Coming back to the Hector, the SUV rivals the likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in pricing terms. It is available with a range of engine and gearbox options. MG Motor offers two petrol engines: a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged petrol with 140 Bhp-250 Nm, and a petrol-mild hybrid version of the same engine, with similar power and torque figures.

While the turbo petrol non-hybrid engine gets 6 speed manual and twin clutch automatic gearbox options, the 48V mild hybrid powertrain gets a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard. The SUV is also available with diesel engine: the 2 liter-4 cylinder Fiat Multijet turbocharged unit with 170 Bhp-350 Nm outputs. The diesel engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard. All variants of the Hector are front wheel driven.

Commenting on the re-opening of bookings and the price hike, MG Motor had this to say,

During the latest booking period, any new Hector booking will reflect marginal price increase of approximately 2.5% (depending on the variant). However, the price at the time of delivery will prevail. As a special, first-of-its-kind gesture, customers who had booked MG Hector in the first phase will be protected from the price increase.

Early next year, MG Motor will launch the Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant version of the Hector in India. Prices are expected to go up thanks to the additional emission control equipment required to meet the new norms. The SUV will also get a 6 seat version, with three rows of seats. The 6 seat version of the Hector is likely to get restyling, to make it distinct from the one that’s already on sale. The 6 seater is also expected to be pricier. Mechanically, it’ll be similar though, and will use BS6 compliant versions of the Hector’s petrol and diesel engines. Expect the new, 6 seat version of the SUV to be unveiled at the 2020 Indian Auto Expo early next year.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso: Latest walkaround reveals the car, inside out!

$

0

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the S-Presso ‘micro SUV’ in India tomorrow. The car has already begun reaching Maruti dealerships across India, and an enterprising Youtuber who runs a channel called Automobile Repair & Knowledge has managed to come up with a full walkaround of the S-Presso, which shows the micro SUV, inside-out. The video showcases the VXI+ trim of the S-Presso, which will also be the highest trim that it’ll be available in. Maruti will sell the S-Presso in three other trims: LXI, LXI+ and VXI. The S-Presso is expected to be slightly pricier than the Alto, which is Maruti Suzuki’s least priced, entry level offering. We expect the S-Presso to start from under Rs. 3 lakhs for the base trim. The butch-styled micro SUV will take on the Renault Kwid and the Datsun RediGo. Both manual and AMT options are expected to be on offer.

The engine powering the car will be the familiar 1 liter-3 cylinder K-Series petrol that’s also been seen on the Alto K10, WagonR and Celerio. This engine, which makes 67 Bhp-90 Nm, should offer the S-Presso ample pep given the fact that the car is truly a lightweight offering, with a kerb weight of just 726 kilograms. In fact, this lightweight build, thanks to the use of the high-tensile steel HEARTECT platform, means that the S-Presso is actually 4 kilograms lighter than even the Alto 800, a car that uses a smaller 796cc petrol engine. Clearly, a light weight and the bigger, rev happy 1 liter petrol engine should make the S-Presso peppy enough for both city commutes and the occasional highway run. The S-Presso will meet the new safety standards laid out under the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP).

Expect to see a driver airbag, ABS, seat belt reminder, speed alerts, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounting points as basic safety features across trims. The car’s higher variants will get a passenger airbag. The S-Presso is likely to be positioned as a youthful micro SUV aimed at younger buyers, and Maruti has signed up Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan to promote it.

Maruti S Presso Walkaround Featured

The interiors of the car also follow a youthful theme with a Mini-style center console that has the instrument cluster laid out in a large circle in the middle of the dashboard. Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment interface dominates the center console, and this unit will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. It’ll be available only on the higher variants though. The S-Presso will be Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant right from launch.

Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest passenger car manufacturer and the latest model in their line up was the premium version of the Ertiga MPV, ‘the XL6’. It is the first MPV to be exclusively sold via Nexa chain of dealerships. Maruti has launched the XL6 MPV to give their customer a premium experience or feel  that was otherwise missing on the normal Ertiga. The XL6 comes in two trims Zeta and Alpha and the prices start at Rs 9.7 lakh, ex-showroom.

Maruti Xl6 Featured 3

Now, Nexa Experience has released four videos on their YouTube channel that explains key features of the XL6 premium MPV in detail. The videos explain features like ABS & EBD, Maruti Suzuki SmartPlay Studio, Automatic gearbox and leather captain seats.

ABS & EBD

This is the first video. it shows how important is it to have ABS as standard on any of our vehicles. ABS helps by not locking the wheels when brakes are applied in emergency situation, thus helping the driver to maneuver the car away from the obstacle easily. The video even demonstrates how ABS and EBD work and also show the difference in braking in an ABS equipped and non-equipped car.

SmartPlay Studio

SmartPlay Studio is the name of the application that Maruti Suzuki customers can use to keep a track of the health of the vehicle, trip history, instant fuel economy, connect their mobile devices via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. It enables the user to  call, text, play music, navigate easily using the touchscreen infotainment system.

Automatic Transmission

Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with both manual as well as automatic transmission. the automatic transmission used here is a four speed torque converter unit. The Automatic gearbox comes as an added advantage in city traffic conditions. the gearbox is very responsive and it even comes with an option for ‘L’, which is the first gear and ‘2’, the second gear that would help during a steep climb.

Leather Captain Seats

Unlike Ertiga, which gets bench seats in the middle row, the new XL6 comes with captain seats. The leather wrapped captain seats are much more comfortable and premium than the regular fabric ones found in Ertiga. With captain seats in the middle. the seat layout of XL6 has gone from 2+3+2 for 2+2+2.

Unlike Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6 is only available with a petrol engine. It uses the 1.5 liter K-Series petrol mild hybrid set up that’s also offered on the Ertiga. This motor is also offered on the Ciaz, and makes 104 Bhp-138 Nm. There are two gearbox options on offer: a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed torque converter automatic.

Maruti S-Presso launching later today: First ‘micro SUV’ from the brand

$

0

Later today, Maruti Suzuki will launch the S-Presso in India. The S-Presso is a hatchback styled to look butch, almost like a micro SUV. Maruti Suzuki is expected to position the S-Presso between the Alto and the WagonR in terms of pricing, which is likely to be very competitive. We expect a starting price tag of under Rs. 3 lakhs for the base version of the S-Presso, which means that it will take on the likes of the Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGO. Given the Maruti S-Presso’s styling, the car looks ready to take on the Kwid rather than the Alto. Notably, Renault will launch the facelifted version of the Kwid tomorrow. By the looks of it, the Maruti S-Presso and the Renault Kwid could have an intense rivalry in the coming months. While the Kwid Facelift will continue to offer two engine options, just like the outgoing version, the S-Presso will get a single engine option.

S Presso 6

The engine in question is the 1 liter-3 cylinder K-Series petrol with 67 Bhp-90 Nm on tap. This engine will be offered with two gearbox options: 5 speed manual and automated manual (AMT). This engine is known for its refinement and rev-happy nature, and has powered a range of cars including the Alto K10, WagonR and Celerio. On the S-Presso, this engine is expected to be very peppy given the low kerb weight of the car.

The S-Presso weighs just 736 kilograms, which makes it lighter than even the Alto 800. The car uses the HEARTECT platform, which in turn uses high tensile steel extensively. This is the reason why the S-Presso is so light. There won’t be a compromise on safety though as the HEARTECT platform’s high strength steel is specifically meant to keep weight low while maintaining acceptable levels of structural stiffness and rigidity.

S Presso 3

The S-Presso will be offered in four trim levels: LXi, LXi+, VXi and VXi+. The AMT option is likely to be offered only on the VXi and VXi+ trims. Top-end trims will receive a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth music streaming, calling, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top-end trims will also get an additional passenger airbag as a key safety feature while standard safety features across trims will include a driver’s airbag, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts, seat belt reminders and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. The car has already begun reaching Maruti Suzuki dealerships across India, and deliveries will begin shortly.

5 BIGGEST mistakes people make while driving automatic cars

$
0
0

Automatic transmissions are becoming quite popular in India. With the arrival of AMT gearbox, buying an automatic car has become affordable in India. Even quite a few mass-segment vehicles have started offering dual-clutch transmissions, which has pushed up the sales of the automatic cars up in the recent past in the market. While the popularity of automatic transmission cars is rising, it should be noted that it still remains a new and unknown technology for many buyers. Making mistakes in such automatic vehicles can happen easily. So if you’re buying an automatic vehicle and want to avoid making mistakes that can damage the transmission or lower the life of the vehicle, these are a few things that you should know about. Here are the five biggest mistakes people make in automatic transmission cars and how to avoid them.

Driving in neutral down the slope

Neutral Coasting

This is a common mistake that many people make even in manual transmission vehicles. Putting the car in “N” while going down the slope is something that many people often do to save the fuel. However, when the automatic transmission goes into the Neutral, many transmission set-ups cut the oil supply in the transmission, which is an essential agent in keeping the transmission lubricated properly and even keeping it at an optimum temperature. This can overheat the transmission. Also, without the vehicle in gear, the driver loses out on control and cannot use the accelerator pedal when required. A vehicle going down in slope does not use as much fuel as many believe.

Not stopping completely before shifting from forward to reverse

Not allowing the vehicle to come to a stop completely before shifting from forward to reverse and vice-versa can literally kill the gearbox. The gearbox uses a transmission brand to change the drive of the car and it is essential to stop the vehicle completely before changing from forward to reverse and vice-versa.

Launch control

Many automatic transmissions come with the “Launch Control” feature that allows the vehicle to take a quick start off the mark. This is quite useful during the competition and once in a while driving enthusiastically. Launch control allows the engine rev to go up so that the vehicle can be launched at a quicker speed. The automatic cars that do not get the launch control system have to manually manipulate the transmission to get the same effect. Many people driving the car without launch control system try to mimic the same effect by building up the revs in neutral and then suddenly put in “Drive” or “D” mode. This causes the transmission to heat up and a lot of wear and tear happens too. The correct way of doing this is to keep the car in Drive mode, keep the brake engaged while building up the revs. After the revs build up, the brake has to be released to get the desired result. Launching the automatic car in this way will cause minimal damage to the vehicle but it is not a healthy practice and brings down the transmission life drastically.

Putting in “Park” mode while driving

Suddenly putting the car in “P” or park mode while the vehicle is still in motion causes immense damage to the transmission. The transmission unit uses a parking pawl to stop the cog from rotating, which in turn disables the vehicle’s movement. When the car is in motion, this can cause greater wear and tear and damage the transmission.

Switching to “Neutral” often

Cvt Transmission Gearbox

Switching to the neutral while waiting at traffic signals or otherwise is not as damaging but in a longer run, it can cause adverse affects to the transmission. Using the lever to shift the transmission often can cause the vehicle’s transmission to wear and tear even more. Also, vehicles with automatic start/stop system work only when the transmission is in D mode. This is why you should not change to neutral while waiting for short times at the signals

Starting 11 AM today, Maruti Suzuki will commence the launch event for what happens to be one of the festive season’s biggest car launches: the S-Presso. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan could do the unveiling honours of this latest Maruti Suzuki car, along with the automaker’s top management. Want to catch all the action live? Well, you just need to click play on the video we’ve lined up for you.

The S-Presso will be Maruti Suzuki’s Renault Kwid-challenger. It’ll gets a butch design language and high ground clearance, and these bits come together to the S-Presso the stance of a ‘micro SUV’. In terms of pricing, expect the base variant of this car to be slotted under Rs. 3 lakhs, making it very competitive and attractive to young and first time car buyers. In fact, the funky styling on the S-Presso’s interiors suggests that it will be aimed primarily at younger car buyers looking at an affordable, high ground clearance hatchback. The S-Presso borrows its mechanicals and platform from the Maruti WagonR. The car sits on the HEARTECT platform, which extensively used high tensile steel to maintain good structural stiffness and rigidity while also managing to keep kerb weight low. In fact, the S-Presso is the lightest car in Maruti Suzuki’s line up, and is even lighter than the Alto 800 with a kerb weight of just 736 kilograms.

S Presso Launch Featured

The car’s engine is the 1 liter-3 cylinder K-Series unit borrowed from the Alto K10/WagonR. This engine has already been made Bharat Stage 6 ready in the Alto K10/Celerio/WagonR, and the same is expected to happen with the S-Presso as well. Gearbox options on the new car will include a 5 speed manual and a 5 speed automated manual (AMT). While the manual gearbox is likely to be offered on all four trims: LXi, LXi+, VXi and VXi+, the AMT option is expected only on the VXi and VXi+ trims. The VXi+ trim will be the fully loaded version of the car, offering power windows at the front, a touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, keyless entry, speed warning, seat belt reminder and ISOFIX child seat mounts as key features. Maruti Suzuki dealers across India have already begun taking bookings for the new car for a booking amount of Rs. 11,000. The car has already begun reaching dealerships across the country, and deliveries are expected to start right from today, after the price announcement.

The Honda Accord is the flagship vehicle of Honda in India and has been on sale here for well over a decade. It rivals the likes of the Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat among others in its segment. The current generation model of this luxury sedan has an on-road price of Rs. 54.64 lakhs in Mumbai, which makes it well past the reach of most of the people. However, you can get a well-maintained Honda Accord for less than the price of base Maruti Suzuki Swift variant. The white Honda Accord you see here is powered by a massive 3.5-litre V6 engine and is being sold at just Rs. 5.95 lakhs, which makes it one crazy deal.

Honda Accord Used 6

It is a 2012 model Accord and is up for sale in Mumbai. The on-road price of a new Maruti Suzuki LXi, which is the cheapest variant, in Mumbai is Rs. 6.02 lakhs, which is a bit more than what this Accord is being offered for. The car seems to have been maintained well and is mostly in its stock conditions. the boatloads of chrome on the front and as well as several other parts of its exteriors will surely enhance its appeal for those who love the shiny metal. Finished in white, the body seems to be devoid of any major scratches or dents.

Honda Accord Used 5

The car has covered around 75,000 km till date and has changed hands one. The exteriors of this Honda Accord also seem to be in a decent condition which is the case with the exteriors too. The beige and black interior theme looks sober and the presence of a ton of feature further enhance its appeal. As it is the top-end variant, it comes equipped with all the bells and whistles Honda had to offer back in 2012.

Honda Accord Used 4

The biggest highlight of this Accord is its big engine, which is a 3.5-litre six-cylinder petrol unit. It is a pretty sporty engine that puts out 271 bhp of power along with 339 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a five-speed Tiptronic transmission. A sedan with 271 Bhp of power is definitely a delight for any driver and while this may be a full-fledged luxury-oriented vehicle, it can still vroom past the other vehicles on a highway pretty quickly.  However, enthusiastic driving will result in average fuel consumption of about 6-7 km/l as this engine is also quite thirsty.

Honda Accord Used 3

Also, do note that the servicing, maintenance, running and spare parts cost of this Honda Accord is much higher than that of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Hence, one should only consider it they have pockets deep enough to bear the added expenses after buying this luxury sedan.

The entry-level version of the Triber is priced at Rs 4.95 lakhs, which makes it much cheaper than the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the market. But does the base version comes with enough features? Here is a walk-around video by AutoTrend TV that shows the base variant of the Triber and all the features that it gets.

The video starts by showing the front-end of the car. It gets a black grille instead of the chrome one available with the top-end of the Triber. However, even the base RxE version of the Triber gets projector headlamps as standard. It is quite interesting to see the projector headlamps on the base version of the Triber. It adds a premium look to the car. The bumper is of monotone instead of the dual-tone available in the high-end versions and there are no fog lamps or the Daytime Running Lamps.

On the side, it gets black ORVMs and door handles. Also, the base version of the Triber gets the 14-inch steel wheels painted in black colour and there are no wheel covers too. The vehicle also does not gets roof rails.

Inside, the car gets a dual-tone dashboard. However, the power windows are only for the front windows. The top-end version gets dual glovebox too. However, this version only gets a single glove box. Renault, however, offers dual airbags as standard, which is a much more important feature. Also, there is no audio system in the centre. However, it gets an electronic boot release button. The RxE version gets a massive cubby hole instead of the chilled glove box. The instrument cluster also remains largely the same but it offers a lesser number of functions.

Triber

The base version of the Triber gets a single roof-mounted cabin light. However, Renault offers adjustable headrests on the four seats. There are also no rear AC vents. The middle-row seats get the one-touch folding seat, which is quite good.

The Triber comes powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 71 Bhp and peak torque of 96 Nm. It gets a five-speed manual transmission but there is no AMT automatic transmission even as an option. Overall, the Renault Triber is an extremely practical car and something that will satisfy the need of a buyer who wants a seven-seater vehicle on a budget.

Tata is currently testing the facelifted version of the Tiago in the Indian market. The Tiago has become quite popular in the segment over the years but in recent times, the competition has become stiffer. To keep the entry-level hatchback fresh in the market, the facelifted model will be launched in the coming days. Even though Tata has been testing the upcoming Tiago for a long time now, and a few spy pictures also give a sneak peek of the cabin of the car, here is what the instrument cluster of the Tiago will look like when it is launched in the market.

Tiago

Tata will replace the current Tiago and will make it sportier to attract the youths. The new car will get a new grille, new headlamps and a host of other updates. The changes will not be restricted to the exterior only. The cabin of the Tiago will also get heavily updated when the facelifted version of the vehicle arrives.

The upcoming Tata Tiago will get an all-digital instrument cluster that will replace the current twin-pod analogue cluster. The new cluster was first spotted in August and now it has been confirmed that both Tata Tiago and the Tata Tigor will get the new cluster. Earlier, Honest Auto Tech shared the picture of the upcoming instrument cluster. The image shows that the funky looking instrument cluster gets two wing-shaped level indicators on both sides. One of these level indicators show the fuel level while the other one is the tachometer, which shows the exact engine RPM. The middle part of the instrument cluster displays the speed of the vehicle in big letters. Other important indicators like the engine temperature gauge, odometer/trip meter, driving mode, warning lamp and other indicators are positioned inside the cluster itself.

The Tata Tiago will get a new front-end, which looks inspired by the upcoming Altroz. It gets a new grille and most likely, a new set of headlamps too. Tata will also tweak the bumper to add a sportier look. Tata is also likely to offer new, sportier-looking alloy wheels. Otherwise, the design of the car will remain similar to the current version of the car.

Tiago Facelift 1

The engine options of the Tiago currently comprises of both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 85 PS and peak torque of 114 Nm. The diesel-powered variants get the 1.05-litre three-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 70 PS and peak torque of 140 Nm. However, Tata may soon discontinue the diesel engine option since the BS6 emission compliance will be implemented from next year.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 will complete its first year in India since its launch by mid-November. In this time period, the bike has earned quite a reputation for itself and is a pretty popular motorcycle for its asking price. Speaking of which, the prices for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 starts at Rs. 2.56 lakh and goes up to Rs. 2.76 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Interceptor 650 has also become a hit with bike modifiers across the world and a lot of mod houses/garages in India have churned out beautiful mod examples of the bike too. The bike featured here today is another such example of a nicely modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

Re Mod 3

Called the Rudra 650, this one has been brought to life by Bengaluru based Bulleteer Customs, a mod house which has churned out a ton of modified Royal Enfield bikes till date. The Rudra 650 is among those subtly modified bikes that don’t scream for attention but catches your attention immediately. It has been painted in red and black which enhances its aesthetics.

Re Mod

Most of the elements on the bikes are still stock and the changes are minimum, which is the reason why it doesn’t look over the top in any wat. Apart from the paint job, another change is in the form of the front shock absorbers which are now upside-down units. They seem to have been taken from the KTM Duke series bikes and even the front disc brakes are different from the ones found on a stock Interceptor 650.

Further, the front and rear fenders have been blacked out on the Rudra as well as shortened for added appeal. The handlebars have been replaced with sportier clip-on units for a more aggressive riding position. The dual-pipe exhausts seem to be the same units as found on a stock Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The fuel tank gets a red and black paint scheme with Royal Enfield written on its sides. All in all, the Rudra 650 is a pretty decent mod job and will especially appeal to those who like their rides to feature minimalistic transformation.

Re Mod 2

Talking about the Royal Enfield Interceptor, the bike is powered by a 647 cc, twin-cylinder, air-oil cooled engine which is a newly developed unit. This engine churns out 47 Bhp of power along with 52 Nm of torque and the engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch. To let you know, the Interceptor 650 is the most powerful and advanced Royal Enfield bike ever to in production as is its twin, the Continental GT 650 The double-cradle chassis upon which the Interceptor 650 utilizes has been designed with inputs from Harris Performance, UK. In the coming time, Royal Enfield will launch the BSVI compliant versions of the 650 twins.

Cops stop Ford Ecosport owner for ‘factory fitted stepney’: Call it illegal [Video]

$

The Ford Ecosport is quite a popular vehicle in the sub-4 meter SUV segment where it rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 among others. To let you know, the Ecosport is the vehicle that is credited with popularising the sub-4 meter SUV segment as it was the first such SUV that sold in huge numbers. One of the major reasons behind the success of the Ecosport was its rugged, SUV like looks at a price point which was much less than any other SUV in the market. The Ecosport comes with high ground clearance, rugged body design, black plastic cladding and tailgate-mounted spare wheel/Stepney which are the few elements responsible for its handsome look. However, an Ecosport owner recently got into trouble with the cops who declared the rear-mounted stepney on the Ecosport as an illegal fitment. The short video clip below by Bharat – AutoWheels India shows how the cops mistook the whole case and blamed the Ecosport owner for illegal modification.

As seen in the video here, the Ecosport owner is involved in a scuffle with the traffic police personnel over the tailgate-mounted spare wheel/Stepney of the Ecosport. The video clip is actually quite short and the cops can be seen making gestures to stop the video recording so as to contain the matter. The exact background story of this incident is not clearly known as communication with the owner wasn’t established at the time of writing. However, from what is known, the cops were of the opinion that the step on the tailgate of this Ford Ecosport is an aftermarket modification and hence the owner would be fined for that.

To this, the Ecosport owner gets quite angry and starts an argument with the cops over the same. As seen in the video the Ecosport owner is repeatedly saying that why did the police officer ask him to put the stepney on top of the car. He demanded logic behind the same and told them that this configuration of stepny fitted tailgate came in that way only from the factory itself. He further tells them that he hasn’t done any sort of modification regarding the stepney as that was the way how every Ecosport in the country is sold. The video abruptly ends here and what happens after this is not known. Most probably though, the guy must have gotten through without paying any challan since it was a silly issue to be brought up in the first place.

Ecosport Bust Featured

Also, in a situation where a cop wrongfully gives you a challan, you can always challenge that in court and if you succeed, the court will also direct the authorities to pay you a suitable compensation. To let you know, the Ecosport is the only vehicle in its segment to feature a tailgate-mounted Stepney and it adds a certain bit of macho appeal to the vehicle. Further, any vehicle which is officially on sale in India has to pass certain tests and certifications in order to be compliant to the Indian conditions. If a vehicle has been approved for sale in India by ARAI, the cops can’t allege of any modifications on the car that come straight from the factory itself. However, doing any sort of modification on the vehicle (barring a few things like wrapping etc) is illegal according to our laws but the case here is about a stock Ecosport which does not attract any fine for being built in a particular way.

MLA in a Toyota Fortuner FINED for running sun film on SUV [Video]

$

With the new MV Act effective in several Indian states and union territories from 1st September 2019, cops have issued a large number of fines. In a few cases, the cops have even booked senior officials, politicians and even fellow cops flouting norms on the public roads. A similar case from Bihar has become viral where the Patna Police issued a fine to a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) during regular checking.

The video comes from Patna where the police forces stopped the black Toyota Fortuner SUV for checking. They found out that the Toyota Fortuner was using aftermarket black tinted windows, which are currently illegal in India. In the video, the MLA Pradeep Singh can be seen asking the cops why they are issuing a fine to him. The video clearly shows the heavily tinted windows of the MLA, which is an official vehicle of the politician too. Inside, a number of policemen who were on-duty and were guarding the MLA can be seen too.

The cop who issued the fine said on the camera that they have issued a Rs 500 fine to the MLA for having black windows. The politician was sitting on the co-driver seat and could be seen with the seatbelts in place, which is a good part. However, the official vehicle also had a number of sirens and flashers mounted on the top of the vehicle, which again is illegal. It should be noted that no politician of India, including the Prime Minister of the country, can use such sirens and flashers on their vehicle. Politicians have been issued fines in the past for the same. However, this time, the cops in Patna did not issue any kind of fine for the illegal attachments on the roof of the vehicle. In India, only emergency vehicles like ambulances and official police cars have the permission to use the sirens and flashers.

Toyota Fortuner Mla Busted

The tinted window rule is one of the most flouted rules in India. While the enforcement is quite strict in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, in many other cities, motorists continue to use the tinted windows to keep themselves safe from the sun. It should be noted that any kind of aftermarket tinted window is not allowed in Indian cars. This was done to ensure that the crimes happening inside the vehicle can be spotted by the bystanders easily.

Also, it should be noted that under the new MV Act, the police can fine government officials double the official amount set for the general public. This rule will ensure that people who are in an authoritative position do not break the rules and set an example for the common motorists using the public roads.

Maruti Suzuki launched the S-Presso hatchback yesterday at an event in Delhi. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Future-S Concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, the S-Presso carries a micro-SUVish design language. It is available in four trims and the price of the base variant is Rs 3.69 lakhs while the top-end variant is priced at Rs. 4.91 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The video below by Arun Panwar shows the newly launched Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in full details. Check out the video to see how the interiors and the exteriors of this new Maruti offering look.

With the S-Presso, Maruti has tried to target young buyers. In fact, with the demand for SUVs on a rise in India, most of the market is inclined towards the SUV design cars. The S-Presso has a pretty unconventional body design and different people may have different opinions about its exteriors. The hatchback gets a sleek chrome grille with wrap-around headlamps on the top-end variant. The bumper on this car is available only in black colour even in the top-end version which has been done in a to add a muscular look to the car. it also gets sleek fog lamps positioned in the bumper. Even the top-end version of the car gets wheel covers and there are no alloy wheels. The high-end variants get the 14-inch wheels while the lower variants come with 13-inch wheels. At the rear, the all-new S-Presso gets black bumper at the rear.

The interiors of the car also follow a youthful theme. Maruti has ditched the conventional cabin design with this one and instead gone for centre placed instrument console. The centre console has the instrument cluster laid out in a large circle in the middle of the dashboard with the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment interface dominates the center console. It will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard, though available only on the higher variants though. The S-Presso will be Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant right from launch. The car is pretty light at around 726-767 kg of kerb weight and has a boot space of approximately 177 litre.

S Presso

To let you know, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is the most-affordable car based on the 5th generation HEARTECT platform. Also, this the first car that is powered by the BS6 compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine that powers the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 in the Indian market. The engine generates a maximum power of 67 Bhp and peak power and 90 Nm of peak torque. It gets both manual and AMT automatic transmission. With both the transmission types, it returns a high fuel efficiency of 21.7 km/l according to the ARAI certificate.
