Theft/damage to car during valet parking? Hotel has to take responsibility, says Supreme Court

$

The Supreme Court of India has just ruled that hotels that offer valet parking need to own up responsibility in case of theft or damage of a vehicle. The court held that hotels cannot deny compensation under the garb of “owner’s risk” when its staff or valet accepts the vehicle for parking. This judgment came in response to a case filed by a 5 star hotel against the competition commission’s decision to award compensation to a person who had given his car to a valet of the 5 star hotel, but failed to get his car back. The car was driven away by unknown people. While the insurance company made good the loss to the person by paying out the claim, the owner of the vehicle also demanded compensation from the 5 star hotel, which was denied by the hotel.

Valet Parking Supreme Court Featured

Justices M M Shantanagoudar and Ajay Rastogi held,

Once possession of the vehicle is handed to the hotel staff or valet, there is an implied contractual obligation to return the vehicle in a safe condition upon the direction of the owner. The hotel-owner cannot contract out of liability for its negligence or that of its servants in respect of a vehicle of its guest in any circumstance. It is only after this burden of proof is discharged that the exemption clause can come into force. The burden of proving that such loss or damage was covered by the exemption clause will also be on the hotel.  The failure to return the vehicle strikes at the root of the bailment relationship and gives rise to a prima facie case of negligence against the hotel.

While hotels will now have to ensure that the vehicles accepted by their valets/staff for parking be returned in the same condition, owners parking their vehicles in parking lots have no such protection. The parking lot owner has no liability towards a theft/damage that takes place when the vehicle is left in a parking lot. Here’s what the court said about a situation where a vehicle owner parks in a parking lot,

It is the owner’s responsibility to find a suitable parking spot, park the vehicle correctly, return, and take out the vehicle upon display of the parking token/slip.

In other words, the clause ‘owner’s risk’ will still apply to vehicles parked in the parking lots of places such as malls, railway stations, hospitals, etc. Meanwhile, do check out six valet parking disasters from India, and the mistakes people make while handing over their cars for valet parking.

Hyundai Venue which was launched earlier this year has been a huge success and has become one of the best-selling vehicles in its segment. It became so popular that in the month of July it took the pole position from Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and became best selling vehicle for the month. Venue is now a common sight on Indian roads. People have even started customizing them according to personal preferences. Here we have something that can be called as India’s first Turbo Petrol Hyundai Venue running on CNG.

The video has been uploaded by Drive Shaft on their youtube channel. The Venue used here is a top-end 1.0L turbocharged petrol one with a manual gearbox and it uses all the components used in a regular CNG kit. One of the major difference in this Venue  from regular CNG kit is the ECU. According to the video the ECU has been updated to make the CNG Kit compatible with the turbocharged petrol engine.

Then the video shows the CNG tank which is as usual placed in the boot of the car. It is 14 Kg CNG Tank and can hold 9 to 10 Kg of CNG. Apart from this, Venue gets a CNG badge at the rear right below the Turbo badging. Other than this no other cahanges are made to the exterior and interior of the vehicle.

Hyundai Venue Featured 2

Later the video also shows how does it feel to drive the 1.0L turbocharged CNG Venue. Generally people opting to fit CNG in a car wait for the warranty period to get over. But here the video says that the CNG kit has been installed at dealer level and does not affect the warranty of the car. The price of the CNG kit for this turbo petrol Venue is also not known, but is expected to be priced a bit higher than the naturally aspirated ones.

Coming back to Venue, it gets a 1.0-litre turbocharged, three-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 118 Bhp and peak torque of 172 Nm. After installing the CNG kit the power figures may have a gone a bit down, but the exact power figures after installation of CNG kit is not known. Expect a dip of about 15-20 % in terms of both power and torque. Well, that’s the price one has to pay for the big cost savings that CNG as a fuel brings to the equation. One can always shift to petrol mode whenever more power/torque is required.

King of poverty-stricken African nation buys 19 Rolls Royces worth Rs. 175 crores for ‘his wives’ [Video

Mswati III – the King of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) and head of the Swazi Royal Family – has just splurged around Rs. 175 crores (USD 24.4 million) to buy 19 Rolls Royce super luxury saloons for his 15 wives. A Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV, specially customized for himself, was among the 19 Rolls Royces the African king of the poverty stricken nation bought.

The king has also reportedly ordered 120 BMW sedans and SUVs for use by the Swazi Royal Family, which includes 23 of his children. The Rolls Royces and BMWs have now expanded the King Mswati III’s already impressive luxury car garage that consists of 20 Mercedes Maybach Pullmans, a Maybach 62 and a BMW X6. The king also owns a couple of private jets for his personal use. All these vehicles not only cost a lot to buy initially but are also very expensive to maintain. Such a large fleet of Rolls Royces, Maybachs and BMWs will need a dedicated service facility.

Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is a land locked country in between South Africa and Mozambique. The king’s latest car buying spree has evoked sharp criticism from the opposition party of Eswatini. People’s United Democratic Movement – opposition party general secretary Wandile Dludlu, had this to say about the king’s car splurge,

Last week (early November), a total of 19 Rolls-Royce cars were delivered to Swaziland for the exclusive use of the king, his mother and his wives. To say this is a blatant display of arrogance and total disregard of the poor people of Swaziland’s feelings by the monarch would be an understatement. As a party we are least concerned about how many wives and children he has. The big issue is that the national purse has to take care of someone’s children when ordinarily in modern politics there is supposed to be a separation between his private resources and the public purse. The Swazi political system is meant to serve the monarchy and its cronies, not the people.

Prime Minister of Eswatini, Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, has justified the purchase of the Rolls Royces and BMWs, stating that it confirmed to the official policy of the kingdom, where the King’s vehicles older than 5 years, had to be replaced with new ones. 63 percent of the people in Eswatini live below the poverty line, and this indicates that the country is very poor, and needs resources to fight hunger and disease. The kingdom is said to be facing civil unrest due to worsening economic conditions and collapse of many government institutions.

Indians  have a special place for SUVs in their heart that is the reason why it is one of the popular segments currently in the market. One of the newest entrant in this segment is Kia Seltos. Seltos was launched earlier this year and has been a huge success for the brand. The waiting periods for Seltos go from 15 days to more than three months depending upon the model you choose. Here, we have video from KKC On A-Motive, who is giving his opinion about the new Kia Seltos. This is not a usual review that we have seen in the past, but a honest ownership review. let us have a look at the video to know more about it

The Seltos used in the video is a 1.4L Turbo Petrol unit GTX+ variant which comes with all the bells and whistles that Seltos has to offer. The 1.4L turbo petrol gets both manual and automatic transmission and in this case owner has opted for 7-Speed DCT. The Seltos has done over 1000 km according to the video. Throughout the video he has a positive impression about the car. There are not a lot of things that are bothering him.

He is happy with the ride quality, driving dynamics, looks, the engine, gearbox everything. He then starts talking about the things that he did not like about the car. He says in sport mode in city traffic conditions the gearbox has a tendency to give bit of a jerk and also discusss the heating issues that has been reported in the past from DCT Seltos.

Kia Seltos Ownership Review Featured

Next thing that he as a customer was not impressed were the tyres. He said that the tyres are spoiling the ride comfort and handling. He also suggests some better profile tyres for those looking to upgrade tyre size. Then he starts talking about the interiors which is a nice place to be in as it is feature loaded. One thing that he does not like about the interior is the HUD as the driver has to adjust hiss or her driving position to see all the info on that screen.

Another issue that he faces is that the outside RVM controls are not illuminated which makes it difficult during night to make any adjustments. But even with all these small issues he is still very much happy with the car and even says that because of the price bracket there is a Kia Seltos for everyone. Seltos is availaable with a 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol and is available with a manual and automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen, the German automobile giant has some grand plans for the Indian market for the next few years. Currently following the India 2.0 strategy, which is being led by Skoda India, the Volkswagen Group will see a lot of new launches in the coming days. Volkswagen brand itself will get a host of new vehicles in its line-up and the first one to be launched in the Indian market will the T-Roc SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of Jeep Compass in the Indian market.

T Roc 2

Since the popularity of the SUVs is increasing by a lot in India, the Volkswagen Group will particularly focus on them for the Indian market this year. The all-new Volkswagen T-Roc, which will be first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in India and will be launched at a later date was spotted testing under camouflage in India. The pictures of the vehicle are posted on Autocar India.

The vehicle was spotted at the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. The T-Roc will become the most affordable SUV from the brand that currently sells only one SUV in the market – the Tiguan. It will be sold in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which is why the expected base price of the vehicle will be around Rs 20 lakhs.

The all-new Volkswagen Tiguan will be based on the MQB platform that underpins the Tiguan as well. It looks quite sporty and gets an aggressive design. The vehicle gets very sleek headlamps that look extremely good while the LED DRLs are positioned around the foglamps down below. Even the cornering lamps are housed within the DRLs. The DRLs are dual-purpose and also work as turn indicators by changing the colour of white to orange.

Volkswagen T Roc 2018 1280 03

Volkswagen vehicles have always been about subtle designs and the T-ROC is not different in any way. It gets heavily flared wheel arches that add the muscular look to the vehicle. Otherwise, it remains a pretty cocktail of sleek lines, swooping roofline and chrome inserts on the highlighted areas like the window line that add the premium look to the vehicle.

The Indian-specific Volkswagen T-Roc will get quite a lot of changes including increased ground clearance among others. Also, a lot of features can be skipped for the Indian model since they increase the overall price of the vehicle. Powering the all-new SUV is a petrol engine. It will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will generate a maximum power of 150 PS. There will be a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission available with the car. Volkswagen may also offer the all-wheel-drive option with the upcoming T-ROC, however, it cannot be confirmed at this moment.

Almost-new, used Maruti Suzuki XL6 for sale: Rs. 50,000 cheaper than a new one

$

0

Maruti Suzuki India launched the all-new XL6 in the Indian market earlier this year. Based on the all-new Ertiga, the XL6 is the more premium version of the two and offers space for six people. The XL6 looks like a crossover of the Ertiga and gets quite a lot of differentiating factors. Maruti Suzuki XL6, just like all other Maruti Suzuki vehicles is quite popular in the market and there is a huge demand for the people mover too. Since it is an all-new vehicle, you may have to wait for a few weeks to get the delivery of the vehicle. Also, there is no official discount on the XL6 too. If you’re in the market looking to buy the brand-new Maruti Suzuki XL6, here is an option that will make you happy. A used Maruti Suzuki XL6, which has barely run and the asking price is a good Rs 50,000 less than new.

Xl6 4

The XL6 put on sale is based in Hyderabad, Telangana. The vehicle in white coloured is finished in dual-tone and looks like it is in showroom condition. To start with, the pictures of the vehicle show that there are no scratches or dents visible on the body. The seller also mentions that the vehicle is accident-free. However, the exact reason for selling the vehicle is not mentioned.

Xl6 3

This is the top-end Alpha automatic variant of the Maruti Suzuki XL6. It is priced at Rs 13.56 lakhs, on-road in Hyderabad. However, the seller is asking for a round figure, Rs 13 lakhs for the vehicle. According to the odometer, this Maruti Suzuki XL6 has done only 1,500 km, which is almost like a showroom condition. Also, since this is only a few months old, the buyer will get all the warranty and benefits like free roadside assistance with the vehicle. Getting a manufacturer warranty on any used vehicle ensures that the manufacturer can be held responsible to get the vehicle up and running till the warranty is valid. This makes it a very solid choice.

Xl6 2

This is the first Maruti Suzuki XL6 that we have spotted on the online market but we are sure that there should be more such sellers in the offline used car market. The all-new XL6 is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and there is no diesel engine available with the model.

Xl6 1

It gets a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. This particular variant for sale gets the 4-speed automatic transmission in place. For more information about the car, please contact the seller directly by clicking here.

Sonia, Rahul & Priyanka Gandhi downgraded from Range Rovers & Toyota Fortuners to 10 year-old Tata Safaris: Here’s why

$

0

The Gandhi family will no longer be driven around in bulletproof Range Rover SUVs but will have to shift to a lot humbler, non-bulletproof Tata Safaris that are nearly 10 years old, reports NDTV. This big change in security detail comes as the Indian government has downgraded the security offered to Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi from Z-Plus to Z category. This means that the vehicles they had been allotted as Z-Plus protectees will also be withdrawn.

sonia gandhi
Armored Range Rover that Sonia Gandhi used to have before.

The Gandhis will now be protected by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, and the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) who used to protect them previously have now been withdrawn from their security detail. A similar exercise took place with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well, whose security detail has been downgraded to Z category from Z-Plus category. However, Dr. Singh was allowed to retain use of an armoured BMW 7-Series luxury saloon.

The CRPF has requested the SPG to grant back access to the armoured Range Rovers and Toyota Fortuners for use by the Gandhis. So far, there hasn’t been any response from the SPG on this request. The sharp cutback on security detail to the Gandhis have led to loud protests in the Parliament, with the Congress party staging a walkout earlier today.

Sonia Gandhi In A Tata Safari
Sonia Gandhi’s latest ride: A 2010 Tata Safari DICOR

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress in the lower house had this to say,

Sonia Gandhi ji and Rahul Gandhi ji are not normal protectees. Vajpayee ji had allowed Special Protection Group protection for the Gandhi family. From 1991-2019, NDA came to power twice but their SPG cover was never removed.

The high-end Range Rover SUVs that were allotted to Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were heavily armored against multiple weapons and could also withstand grenade attacks. Rahul Gandhi used to have a similarly armored Toyota Fortuner SUV. What remains to be seen is whether the Tata Safari SUVs of 2010 vintage, that have been allotted to the Gandhis, are armoured.

Rahul Gandhi Tata Safari

If they’re not armoured, they’ll be no different from the Safari 2.2 that you and me can buy from the used car market now that Tata Motors has officially discontinued this SUV. The Safari 2.2 is powered by 2.2 liter turbocharged diesel engine that make 140 Bhp-320 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox is standard. The SUV gets both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts depending on the variant chosen. The Safari has been replaced by the Safari Storme, which continues to be on sale presently but could soon be discontinues once the BS6 norms come into place.

Tata Hexa replaced the Tata Aria from the model line in the Indian market sometime back. Even though the Hexa looks quite intimidating on the roads and a decent overall package, there is hardly any buyer of the vehicle. One of the reasons behind the sluggish sales of the Hexa is its price. It is priced quite high, which is why many customers redirect themselves towards the lower-end seven-seater vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Well, what if you get a Tata Hexa for a price of a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga? It would be something great. Well, there are many less-run and well-maintained Tata Hexa that are available in the used car market and are cheaper than a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The top-end of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is priced close to Rs 13 lakh, on-road in Delhi. Here are five Tata Hexas that are cheaper than a brand-new Ertiga.

Watch cops intentionally breaking up electric rickshaws for wrong entry [Video]

Many people of India do not hold police and traffic cops in high regard because of their behaviour. Every month, reports of bad behaviour by cops surface on the Internet and some reports are absolutely heartbreaking. Even traffic police have been caught behaving badly and using their power on the common citizens in the past. Well, a new video from West Bengal shows a bunch of cops intentionally breaking the headlamps and console of the electric rickshaw owners. Here is the video.

In the video, we can see a bunch of policemen in uniform surrounding electric rickshaws on the public roads. One of the cops from the group uses his baton to hit the headlamp of the electric rickshaw repeatedly until they break. He also hits the speedometer console of the rickshaws while the drivers quietly go through it without a sign of protest. The cops present at the scenario do the same treatment to various rickshaws passing through the area.

The cops are not even confronting the electric rickshaw pullers and are directly hitting their vehicles and damaging their property. The reason for hitting the electric rickshaws is the wrong entry by the rickshaws. In several parts of the city, these rickshaws are banned in India. Traffic Police have banned the entry of slow-moving vehicles like rickshaws to ensure that the roads do not get choked due to the slow speeds. However, the rickshaw pullers and other slow vehicle owners do not pay heed to such bans and enter the roads.

Police

However, the cops taking such drastic measures to stop the entry of the electric rickshaw is a little bit too much. This incident from Sadar Bazaar Burdwan is similar to how traffic police often treat such rickshaw pullers around India. In the capital of India, Delhi, the Traffic Police often use sharp objects like ice breakers to damage the tyres of the auto-rickshaws and manual rickshaws.

While the three-wheelers like auto-rickshaws can be fined under the Motor Vehicle Act, there are numerous electric rickshaws that ply illegally on the roads without any registration number and cannot be fined by the cops. They can be seized by the police but due to the long procedure involving the seizing and then preserving the vehicle, the cops avoid doing it. However, using harsh methods such as this one sends across a strong message to the rickshaw pullers.

We do feel that this is one of the most inhumane ways to treat any kind of motorist on the road. Everyone including the cops should follow the proper procedures to stop such illegal activities and keep the traffic smooth and flowing.

Want to beat a MASSIVE price hike of Rs. 3-4 lakhs? Buy the Isuzu V-Cross/MU-X now!

The Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) norms, which are a lot more stringent than the prevailing Bharat Stage 4 (BS4) emission norms, will come into effect in India from the 1st of April, 2020. These norms will make diesel cars and SUVs a lot more pricier as automakers need to add expensive emission control equipment in diesel engined vehicles for them to meet the BS6 norms. Isuzu has noted that its popular V-Cross lifestyle pick up truck and the MU-X luxury SUV could get pricier by about Rs. 3-4 lakhs. The Japanese utility vehicle giant has also noted that it would stop production of BS4 SUVs and pick-up trucks by the end of December, which means that the BS6 variants of these vehicles would be introduced sometime in January 2020, along with a hefty price increase. To beat the price hike, the best time to buy a Isuzu V-Cross pick up truck or a MU-X luxury SUV, is NOW.

Isuzu India’s spokesperson, Shankar Srinivas, had this to say about the price hike and BS6 norms,

There is an air of uncertainty prevailing amongst vehicle buyers in the country. As per the government announcement, BS4 vehicles purchased on or before March 31, 2020, will continue to run even after implementation of BS6 norms coming in force from April 2020. Isuzu would like to notify its new and existing customers about the price hike next year and urge its customers to make appropriate vehicle purchase decisions whilst availing scheme benefits that come with the range of Isuzu utility vehicles.

Buyers need to note that there would not be any issue in running BS4 cars and SUVs even after the BS6 norms come into effect. The registration of BS4 vehicles will continue till the 31st of March 2020, and the registration period of 15 years will be respected by the government (Except in Delhi where diesel engined cars will be registered only for 10 years).

Coming back to the Isuzu V-Cross, the pick up truck is currently available with two engine options: a 1.9 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 148 Bhp-350 Nm and a 2.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 134 Bhp-320 Nm. While a 5 speed maual gearbox is standard on the 2.5 liter diesel, the smaller but more powerful 1.9 liter diesel gets a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Both engines get four wheel drive transfer cases with low and high ratios as standard. Prices of the Isuzu V-Cross start from Rs. 16.55 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

The top-of-the-line Isuzu MU-X luxury SUV rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner  and the Ford Endeavour. It’s powered by a 3 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 174 Bhp of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque. The MU-X gets a 5 speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard, and is offered with rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts. Solidly built and highly reliable, the Isuzu MU-X is a seven seat SUV. Ex-showroom Delhi prices start from Rs. 27.35 lakhs.

Politician fakes Mercedes Benz number plate to escape 22 lakh road tax: E-Class luxury sedan SEIZED!

A small time politician and the owner of a Mercedes Benz E-Class luxury sedan has gotten into big trouble. Raju K Gowda, a resident of Keragodu, Mandya, and who also owns a quarry, allegedly faked the number plate of his Mercedes Benz E-Class in order to avoid paying road tax. He was found to be running a fake number plate on his 2013 Mercedes Benz E-Class, which RTO officials have seized, along with another E-Class (running a genuine number plate). RTO officials in Bangalore, along with the help of traffic police, managed to locate Mr. Gowda and seize the car. However, Mr. Gowda escaped from the Yashwantpur RTO, where he was taken for questioning by officials, by scaling the wall of the RTO. Bangalore police has launched a manhunt to track him down and take him into custody.

Mercedes E Class Seized Featured

How did it all happen?

Gnanendra Kumar, additional commissioner of Bengaluru RTO had this to say when interviewed by BangaloreMirror.

We had some information with us, which we used to find them. One day a car had come to Yeshwanthpur RTO and the inspector noticed the car and the number plate. A few days later, the same inspector saw another car with the same number plate while on duty in Yeshwanthpur limits. This made the inspector a little curious. He wasn’t sure about the car he had seen parked on Tumkur Road, and so he sent the picture of the car to the person, who had come to the RTO. The man responded saying this was not his car and so we confirmed that something was wrong. With the help of traffic police and CCTV footage, we managed to track the car down in Mylasandra, Kengeri. At a petrol bunk, Gowda swiped his credit card to pay the fuel bill. That’s where we got his address and contact details. Before this, we had identified the car when it passed the toll gate near Bellur Cross on Mangaluru highway.

The RTO officials sought the help of traffic police officials, and proceeded to Mr. Gowda’s house in Kengeri, in the wee hours of the morning, at about 5 AM. They saw the car parked at the house, and managed to nab the accused, who instantly accepted that the Mercedes E-Class was running a fake number plate. The accused, Mr Gowda, had a temporary number plate, and hadn’t registered the car for more than 3 years in order to avoid road tax. The RTO officials brought Mr. Gowda to the Yeshwantpur RTO at about 6:30 AM, from where he allegedly escaped by scaling a wall. The RTO officials have calculated the total tax dues on this Mercedes to be about Rs. 22 lakhs. This includes the various penalties imposed on the owner for plying the car without registering it for many years.

Faking a number plate of a vehicle is a serious offence, and the offender can be tried under the criminal penal code (CrPC). If found guilty, the offender can also be jailed. Of course, the vehicle will be seized until the case is closed in the court of law, and a hefty penalty will be imposed for not just faking the number plate but also for evading road tax. In recent times, there have been a spate of vehicles running on fake number plates. Vehicles running with fake number plates not only evade road tax in many cases but are also used to commit crimes.

India’s only ‘proper 6X6’ Mahindra off roader for sale: Cheaper than a Maruti Brezza

Even though the off-roading culture is not very popular in India, there are many enthusiasts who keep it alive. Since the 4X4 vehicles are not very popular in the Indian market, many manufacturers do not launch these vehicles in the market. In developed markets, we do see that manufacturers launch limited-production vehicles like Mercedes-AMG G-Wagen 6X6. Well, back home, enthusiasts do it in their own unique way. Here is such a unique vehicle owned by Prashant Singh, which is a proper 6X6 Mahindra SUV and it is up for grabs!

6x6 2

The vehicle for sale is based on a Mahindra utility pick-up truck and it looks intimidating from every angle. The vehicle was bought by Prashant Singh in 2000 and over the years, it has received a long list of modifications. The vehicle is up for sale now and the asking price is Rs 12 lakhs, which makes it much cheaper than the top-end on-road price of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the top-selling car in the segment in India.

The vehicle retains the original engine and the transmission, which means that it will be reliable when it comes to the engine life and transmission. Now there is a customised 6X6 gearbox that has been made for this vehicle. It is used with an additional differential mounted on the vehicle for the extra set of tyres. This ensures that all the 6 tyres of the vehicle get power, which is what the 6X6 means. There are quite a few 6 wheeled vehicles in India but not all of the wheels are powered, which makes this vehicle special and unique in India.

6x6 3

Further, the brake lines have been upgraded to ensure that the vehicle comes to a stop in a short distance when needed. It also gets the original AC unit of the Mahindra Bolero, which makes sure that the cabin gets optimum cooling without any fuss. The power steering wheel unit is also from Mahindra.

6x6 4

With two extra tyres in the rear, the suspension has been modified and new custom suspension has been added for the rear wheels. At the front, it gets accessories like WARN winch of 10 lbs capacity, Superwinch at the rear of 12 lbs capacity, 33-inch Yokohama tyres that make the vehicle look grand on the roads. Also, the stock rims have been upgraded to steel rims. Other off-road-friendly accessories include 2 J cranes, 42-inch hi-lift jack, custom fenders, custom bumpers, shovel, customised flatbed with storage compartment, detachable hood and a trailer hook.

6x6 1

The vehicle is registered in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Prashant Singh, who currently owns the vehicle says that all the NOC and documents will be provided if the buyer wants to register the vehicle in a different city. This Mahindra 6X6 has done quite a lot of off-roading and there are numerous pictures of the vehicle available online. For more information, you can contact the seller directly and get more details.

Renault India is offering massive discounts on its entire car range save for the just-launched Triber. The Renault Kwid, Duster, Lodgy and Captur are selling at hefty discounts of up to Rs. 3 lakh, making them very attractive for buyers. While the big discounts on the Kwid and Duster are mainly on the pre-facelift models, which seem to be in stock with many Renault dealers, the Lodgy and Captur get size-able discounts on current versions as well. Here’s a quick walkthrough on model-wise discounts on Renault cars sold in India.

Kwid: Rs. 50,000 off!

Renault Kwid

Renault dealers are offering a 50,000 rupee discount on pre-facelift versions of the brand’s least priced car: the Kwid hatchback. Mechanically, the pre-facelift version of the Kwid is similar to the facelifted model. The car is offered with two engine options – 800cc and 1 liter – both in triple cylinder petrol guise. The smaller engine has a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while the bigger engine gets 5 speed manual and AMT options. Even the pre-facelift model gets ABS and a single airbag option. Prices of the Kwid start from Rs. 2.83 lakhs.

Duster: Rs. 1.25 lakh off!

Renault New Duster Photo Release 08072019

A very competent SUV best known for its strong diesel engine, safe and secure all wheel drive version and a superb ride quality, the Renault Duster is now available at a Rs. 1.25 lakh discount. This massive discount is offered on the pre-facelifted version of the compact SUV while the facelifted model also gets discounts, but that’s a much smaller figure at Rs. 50,000. The Duster is sold with 1.5 liter petrol and turbocharged diesel engines. While the petrol engine gets 5 speed manual and CVT automatic options, the diesel is available with 5 speed and 6 speed manuals, and a automated manual transmission. The all wheel drive layout is offered with a 6 speed manual and the 110 PS 1.5 liter diesel engine. Prices of the Duster start from Rs. 8 lakhs.

Lodgy: Rs. 2 lakhs off!

The Lodgy MPV never really managed to take off in the Indian market despite offering competent diesel engines, a value-for-money price tag, great ride quality and 7/8 seat layouts. The Lodgy shares its platform and most parts with the Duster, including the 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel engine in 84 Bhp-200 Nm and 108 Bhp-240 Nm states of tune. 5 speed and 6 speed manual gearboxes are offered with this MPV, which rivals the Maruti Ertiga. Renault dealers are now offering hefty discounts of Rs. 2 lakh on the MPV as it will be discontinued in April 2020, when BS6 norms come into place. Ex-showroom Delhi prices of the Renault Lodgy start from Rs. 8.63 lakhs.

Captur: Rs. 3 lakh off!

Like the Lodgy, the Captur has been a slow seller for Renault right from the word go. The compact SUV, which rivals the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, is now being offered at discounts of upto Rs. 3 lakh, making it quite attractive to those wanting a stylish SUV with great ride quality and a competent diesel engine. The front wheel driven Captur is offered with 1.5 liter petrol and turbodiesel engines. 5 speed and 6 speed manual gearboxes are standard with the petrol and diesel engines respectively. The Captur shares its platform, and most parts with the Duster and Lodgy. Prices start from Rs. 9.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR BS6 launched in India: Much more expensive than current version

Maruti Suzuki India, the largest passenger car manufacturer in India has silently added the BS6 compliant all-new WagonR to its line-up. The BS6 compliant 1.0-litre engine debuted in the market with the introduction of the all-new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. The same engine will now be available with the all-new WagonR.

Wagonr 2

It should be noted that the all-new Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which was launched earlier this year gets powered by two different engine options – 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine of the WagonR has been upgraded to the upcoming emission norms while the 1.2-litre four-cylinder was upgraded earlier to meet the new emission norms. Maruti Suzuki is expected to upgrade all their current products to the BS6 emission norms before the official implementation of the BS6 emission norms in India, which will happen in April 2020. The manufacturer is currently the only one to offer a wide range of BS6 compliant products in the Indian market. In fact, Maruti Suzuki sold more than 70% BS6 compliant vehicles out of the total sales.

With the introduction of the BS6 compliant engine, Maruti Suzuki has also announced a price hike. The base version of the all-new WagonR BS6 is priced at Rs 4.42 lakhs, which is about Rs 8,000 more expensive than the BS4 compliant version of the car. All the versions of the vehicle including the top-end VXI (O) version have received an Rs 8,000 price hike.

Visually and feature-wise, the vehicle remains identical to the BS4 compliant version of the WagonR. It retains the 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. However, the upgrade work on the engine has made the mileage to slightly drop from 22.5 km/l to 21.79 km/l. The power and torque output remain the same.

The all-new third-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR was launched in the Indian market to replace the ageing model. The all-new WagonR is based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins a host of other Maruti Suzuki cars in the Indian market. The all-new WagonR is currently the best-selling vehicle in the segment and it outsells the competitors by a huge number.

Maruti Suzuki has already announced that the brand will discontinue all the diesel-powered vehicles in the Indian market post the implementation of the BS6 norms in the Indian market. While most of the models have already received the BS6 updates in the Indian market, only diesel-powered models like the S-Cross and the Vitara Brezza continue to be BS4. Maruti Suzuki plans to launch both the models with the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that powers a host of other Maruti Suzuki cars. Maruti Suzuki has also deferred the launch of the electric cars for the passenger market. Instead, the all-new WagonR EV will be launched for the cab operators in the coming time.

Royal Enfield to discontinue 500cc Classic, Thunderbird & Bullet next year?

$
0
0

Royal Enfield, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer above the 300cc segment in India is a cult brand in India. Popularly known for the 350cc and 500cc single-cylinder powered motorcycles, the model line-up of Royal Enfield is expected to be revamped in the next few months. Royal Enfield is planning to drop the 500cc-powered motorcycles in the line-up due to the BS6 pollution norms. Here is everything that you should know about the changes.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Official Off Road Exhaust

A new Livemint report claims that Royal Enfield will drop the 500cc motorcycles from the line-up. The engine currently powers the Classic, Bullet and Thunderbird range of the Royal Enfield motorcycles. The new stringent pollution emission norms – BS6 will come into effect from 1st April 2020. The current 350cc and 500cc pushrod engines of the Royal Enfield motorcycles will not be able to meet the norms. However, upgrading the existing engines to meet the norms can prove to be extremely costly, especially for the Indian market where the cost is a major factor in the success of the vehicles.

Royal Enfiled will replace the 350cc engine though that is a major volume driver for the manufacturer. Most of the bikes sold by the brand are powered by the 350cc engine, which will get a replacement engine and will power the future Royal Enfield motorcycles. However, 500cc motorcycles will be discontinued from the market.

The report quotes a source and says that the vehicle pushrod technology is not capable of meeting the upcoming stringent emission norms. This is the reason for discontinuing both the engines. Royal Enfield will reportedly replace the 350cc engine with an all-new engine that will be launched in the market soon. It is not known if the new engine will be ready for production by next year.

Royal Enfield launched the all-new 650cc parallel-twin cylinder powered motorcycles including the Interceptor and the Continental GT in the Indian market. Both the motorcycles have become extremely popular in the Indian market and have also affected the overall sales of the 500cc powered Royal Enfield motorcycles. The manufacturer is yet to officially announce any update on the matter. However, Royal Enfield earlier said that they are working to upgrade the current products to meet the new norms.

After the launch of the 650 twins – Interceptor and the Continental GT 650, Royal Enfield will launch various other products powered by the same parallel-twin cylinder engine. We may very well see the products like Classic 650, Thunderbird 650 and Bullet 650 in the future. However, a strong rumour predicts that Royal Enfield will also launch the 650cc engine powered Himalayan.

Next year, Royal Enfield is expected to launch a slew of new products in the Indian market. Currently, the brand leads with a huge margin on the monthly sales charts compared to the rivals like the KTM.
