Himalayan roads are not well made and well maintained. At many places, you would see water crossings and rough patches of the road which many people would consider off-road. However, people are still taking their regular hatchbacks to such roads. Here is a video of a Hyundai i20 which was travelling via Kunzum Pass. During this, the premium hatchback has to tackle rough terrain and multiple water crossings.

The video is uploaded on the YouTube channel of Himalayan Solo traveler.  In the video, we can see the i20 is crossing dusty and muddy patches of road. It also crosses a water crossing where the terrain is slippery. Then there is a slope where a Baleno is stuck and people have to get out of the vehicle to help it. Then the people have to push the hatchback because it was not able to climb the slope. The i20 on the other hand was able to climb up the slope in one go. The premium hatchback can also be seen crossing a small river.

Hyundai i20

The i20 has been a successful product from Hyundai. However, the new generation of i20 has been priced significantly higher than the previous one. The i20 now starts at Rs. 6.85 lakhs ex-showroom and goes all the way up to Rs. 11.34 lakhs ex-showroom. It is being offered in four variants, namely Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta(O). A few weeks ago the
“Era” variant of the i20 was spied. Era is supposed to be the new base variant of the i20. This should help in dropping the price of the i20 quite a bit.

Competitors

The i20 currently goes against Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza.

Engine and transmission

Hyundai offers the i20 in three engine options. There is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The diesel engine is a detuned unit from the Hyundai Creta. It produces 100 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 240 Nm. It is offered only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The naturally aspirated engine produces 83 PS of max power and 114 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. If you get the CVT automatic transmission, then the power output is increased to 88 PS. The turbo petrol engine produces 120 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 172 Nm. This engine makes the i20, the most powerful premium hatchback in the segment.

As standard, it comes with an iMT or intelligent Manual Transmission with is a 6-speed unit. iMT is a clutchless manual gearbox. So, the driver does not have to modulate the clutch. He would only have to shift the gears the clutch will be engaged and disengaged by the computer. This transmission provides an experience of the best of both worlds. You get the experience of shifting the gears yourself and you get the convenience of driving an automatic transmission in traffic. You can also get the turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Czech car manufacturer has plans to launch the facelifted version of Kodiaq in the market later this year. The SUV has now been spotted in India without any camouflage. This is probably the first time that the Kodiaq Facelift has been spotted in India. A video of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq SUV is also available online.

The video has been shared by MotorBeam on their YouTube channel and the car was spotted by one their follower. The Kodiaq seen here gets a Nardo Grey like paint job which looks extremely good on the car. The variant seen here is the Sportline.

Talking about the changes, in comparison to the older version Skoda has made several changes to the Kodiaq facelift. The front grille looks slightly bigger and sits upright. The revised headlamps are placed on either ends of the front grille. The headlamps are now sleeker than pre-facelift version. The headlamps are LED units and fog lamps are placed right below the headlamps. Along with the grille and headlamps, the front bumper on the Kodiaq has also been revised.

As this is the Sportline variant there are no chrome strips around the grille and window line. All these elements have been blacked out and that gives the SUV a sporty look. The door handles are body coloured and the ORVM covers have also been blacked out. The alloy wheels get a new design but they have been blacked out. They have a similar design to what we have seen in the international variants.

Moving to the rear, Skoda Kodiaq facelift gets a revised bumper, sleeker LED tail lamps and a new spoiler. The spy video also shows a glimpse of the interior of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq. The dashboard looks clean and is mostly black with piano black panels running across it. The cabin looks premium and Skoda’s three spoke multi-function steering is also seen in the video.

Hyundai has made it clear that it will focus primarily on the SUVs and the MPVs in the Indian market. With the growing demand in these segments, Hyundai has already claimed the top-SUV manufacturer in India with the likes of Venue, Creta, newly launched Alcazar and the likes. Now Hyundai is working on an all-new car, which will be an MPV to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

A report on ACI claims that Hyundai is working on the all-new MPV, which will be launched in developing markets like India, Indonesia and Russia. The vehicle gets an internal codename as KS and will make its debut in Indonesia sometime in 2022.

The new MPV will share the platform with the Kia KY MPV, which is also expected to launch in the Indian market next year. Following the launch of the MPV from Kia, Hyundai will bring its iteration to the market.

The Stargazer will be one of the first MPVs to roll out from Hyundai’s new plant in Indonesia where the demand for MPVs is very high. The MPV segment is ruled by the likes of Honda BR-V, Mitsubishi Xpander, and Suzuki Ertiga among other vehicles.

Same platform as the Creta

The all-new Stargazer will get the same platform as the Hyundai Creta. The length of the MPV might similar to the newly launched Hyundai Alcazar. However, the design of the cabin will allow Hyundai to put three-row seating comfortably.

Hyundai has even started testing the upcoming vehicle in its home country North Korea. The heavily camouflaged test mule shows the design highlights of the upcoming MPV. It will get a similar front-face to the current-generation Hyundai cars.

Hyundai will offer the all-new MPV with a 1.5-litre petrol engine at first. The report claims that if Hyundai launches the car in India, there will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine available too. Interestingly, the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga does not offer a diesel engine option.

While Hyundai is yet to confirm the launch of the all-new Stargaze in the Indian market, Kia has confirmed the launch of its MPV – codenamed as KY. Hyundai and Kia follow the strategic launches in India and bring out models based on the same platform. Like the Sonet – Venue and the Seltos – Creta, Hyundai is likely to launch the all-new Stargaze to take on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo.

Hyundai will launch the all-new Casper, which is codenamed AX1. The new micro-SUV will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis in the Indian market.

Here we have an MG Hector SUV that has been wrapped in gold coloured body wrap.

The images have been shared by vebtorquemotors on their Instagram page. The page does not mention all modifications done to this MG Hector in detail. We have seen several other cars wrapped in gold body wrap in the past but, this is probably the first MG Hector in the country to get such a treatment. The gold wrap on this MG Hector looks quite neat. The SUV seen here in the pictures is a pre-facelift model. The owner has completely wrapped the SUV in gold colour vinyl. This does give it a very unique look and goes well with the overall premium look of the SUV.

All the chrome elements on the MG Hector have been retained. To maintain the premium look. Even the roof and ORVMs of this SUV has been wrapped in gold. The work done on this SUV looks very neat but, is it the best looking MG Hector that we have seen so far? not exactly. We have seen many other modified MG Hectors that look better than this.

MG Motor launched the 2021 version of Hector in the market with cosmetic changes and it now looks a lot more premium both on outside and inside. The interiors now get a tan colour interiors which look premium than the older all black cabin. The interiors are similar to what we have seen in Hector Plus which is the 7-seater version of Hector. Hyundai Eon owner uses same registration number on 2 cars to escape road tax: Arrested, cars seized

Putting fake registration on a vehicle in India is illegal. In the past, the cops have uncovered many cases where the same registration numbers were shared by two identical cars. Sometimes it is done by the dealers to avoid paying road taxes. Many customers do similar things to save money and avoid paying taxes. Here is one such incident from Kerala.

During a routine check at the Kechi-Dhanushkodi national highway, Kerala Motor Vehicle Department identical cars with the same registration number. During the inspection, the Idukki Enforcement Squad of MVD saw the vehicles passing the same spot within a few minutes of each other as reported by Madhyamam.

The team led by Inspector Mujeeb saw the vehicles crossing the spot. They stopped the second vehicle and stopped the vehicle that passed from the same spot some time ago. After taking both the vehicles in custody, the cops found out that the registration belongs to Akhil, a native of Neryamangalam Kanjiravali. Both the cars were seized at the spot.

Further investigations revealed that both the vehicles belong to a Nillikuzhi resident who stays outside India. The Hyundai Eon has purchased from Akhil sometime ago for Rs 3 lakh.

Changed the chassis number

They changed the registration number to match a Hyundai Eon that they already owned. They even changed the chassis number. The vehicle does not have an insurance cover too. Both the vehicles were used as rented vehicles and even the locals did not know about the same since the owner took the utmost care to keep both the vehicles operate far away from each other.

The police have registered a case to investigate the scam further. The cops have even made a few arrests in connection with the fake registration number scam.

Tampering with registration number

It is a major offence to tamper with the registration number in India and change it as per convenience. Each motor vehicle including cars, trucks, buses, two-wheelers and everything else gets a unique registration number from the RTO or the Regional Transport Office. This allows the police to track the vehicle in case of theft or a crime. The registration number of a vehicle is linked to its chassis number and engine number. No two vehicles can have the same chassis number, engine number and registration number in India. Changing the registration number is a criminal offence and the vehicle gets seized immediately.

This is why the Indian government has introduced the High-Security Registration Plate or HSRP. Currently, the Delhi-NCR authorities have mandated the use of HSRP and any vehicle without these high-security plates get challans. These registration plates are tamper-proof and are screwed to the vehicle using a single-use bolt that cannot be opened again.

In the past, the cops have seized many vehicles for using tampered registration plates. However, this is the first instance when someone has used the registration number that belongs to a popular personality.

Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta and two of the most popular mid size SUVs in the segment. Both these SUVs share the same engine and gearbox options and are based on the same platform. Seltos got launched in the market an year before the all-new Creta came. Both these SUVs weight almost the same and Creta had an late mover advantage over Seltos when it comes to some of the features. Creta comes with features like fully digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof which Seltos misses. Other than that, both SUVs use same engines and generate same amount of power. Here we have a video that shows how Hyundai Creta diesel AT and Kia Seltos diesel AT perform against each other in a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by The Drivers Hub on their YouTube channel. Vlogger starts by talking about the engine and power figures of both the SUVs. They are both powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine generates 115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both SUV come with manual and automatic transmission option and the one used in this drag race videos are the automatic ones.

Both SUVs are lined up for the race. They choose an empty stretch of road for this purpose. Both SUVs have Sport mode and they were both driven in that mode. The race starts and both SUVs move off the line almost the same time. Kia Seltos was managed to move a bit more quickly and managed to take the lead.

Both SUVs were quite aggressive in terms of acceleration. Seltos managed to maintain the lead throughout the race and won the round. Hyundai Creta was right behind Seltos. Kia Seltos won the race only by a very small margin. Vlogger then mentions that the Creta was being driven on the side where there was dust and that lead to wheelspin Creta initially. That wheelspin became an opportunity for Seltos to take the lead.

If the both SUVs were driven on the similar type of road, the results would have been even more interesting. Both SUVs have same engine and gearbox and it all comes to the reaction time of the driver. If they had conducted a second round with Creta and Seltos swapping sides, results might have been different. Both SUVs are equally capable of winning this race and that is what vlogger also mentions in the video.

Hyundai also launched a 7-seater version of Creta which is known as Alcazar. It is based on Creta but, has a longer wheelbase to accommodate three row seats. It is powered by a 1.5 litre diesel and a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Kia currently has no plans to launch a 7 seater version of the Seltos in the market. Both Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta come with two petrol and one diesel engines.

There is a 1.5 litre NA petrol which comes with both manual and CVT gearbox option. Seltos offers an iMT gearbox which is not available in Creta. The next engine is the 1.5 litre turbo diesel that comes with manual and automatic gearbox option. The most powerful engine option is the 1.4 lite turbo petrol which is offered with manual and DCT gearbox option in Seltos whereas the Creta comes with DCT gearbox only.

Tata Estate on an all-India drive gets STUCK: Mahindra Thar to the rescue

Post lockdown, All-India trips on cars and bikes have become a thing in India. Several vloggers and travel enthusiasts have started following this. Such people carry all essential items like food, tent with them. This way, travellers can save a lot as they don’t have reserve hotel rooms to stay at night. One such group from Kerala is on an all-India drive and the car in which they are travelling makes it more interesting. They are travelling in an old Tata Estate which is an iconic vehicle. In this video, the vlogger attempts to drive the Tata Estate on sand dunes and regrets his decision.

The video has been uploaded by PETROLHEAD MOTOR GARAGE on their YouTube channel. Vlogger and his friend were travelling through Rajasthan when the video started. They were driving towards Sam dunes in Jaisalmer. Vlogger knew was not sure whether he’ll be driving into the desert in his Tata Estate as it a rear wheel drive car.

On their way to Sam dunes, they got in touch with three other travelers who were in a Mahindra Thar 4×4. They discussed the plan and finalised that they’ll try driving the station wagon into the desert. After driving for some time, they reach desert and vlogger slowly started driving into the sand.

He regretted doing this after driving few meters. The sand was so loose that the rear wheels got stuck in it instantly. Vlogger tried accelerating the car to front and rear but, that did more harm than good. First of all, Tata Estate is a station wagon and it is not an ideal vehicle for this purpose. We are not sure, whether they deflated the tyres slightly before getting in the sand. slightly deflated tyres offer more surface area for the tyre and that allows more traction.

After trying on their own for some time, they figured out that the Estate is going anywhere and needs to be pulled out. Mahindra Thar then comes into the picture. They were carrying tow rope with them and both cars were tied together and Thar started pulling it out.

It came out of the sand once and got stuck again. This time, Estate was badly stuck and was not moving even after being pulled by Mahindra Thar. As this was an entirely new terrain, the Thar driver was finding it difficult. Locals then pitch in and they offer help. Jeep is quite common vehicle in that part of the country and one of the Jeep driver’s started pulling it out. The local driver pulled the Estate using the same Mahindra Thar in some time.

This video is a perfect example on why you should never drive a 2WD vehicle off-road. How much experience matters is also shown here as Mahindra Thar pulls it out. Other reason why Estate got stuck was because it was on road tyres and the rear part of the car was loaded with essential items that vlogger and his partner needs while they are on the trip. If they did not have a back up vehicle, they would have been stuck at the spot for a very long time.

Off-roading and off-road events are slowly gaining popularity in India like rest of the world. We have seen examples of tastefully modified SUVs that are ready to face any off-road challenge. Usually the videos that we see online show stock vehicle with some off-road friendly modifications but, things completely change if you are preparing an SUV for an off-road challenge. RFC or Rainforest Challenge is one of the toughest off-road competition in India and in order to prepare an SUV for this competition several changes have to be made. Here we have a video of Maruti Gypsy that has been extremely modified for RFC. What makes this Gypsy unique is its four wheel steering.

The video has been shared by Ex ARMY MALLU VLOGS on their Facebook page. In this video vloggers talks about all the modifications that have been made to the Gypsy to make it more suitable for off-road competitions. The vehicle has been modified by R&T Auto catalyst which is off-road SUV building garage in Kerala. They have modified several SUVs for both off and on road purposes and have also restored several vintage cars and SUVs. Sam Kurian Kalarickal who owns R&T Auto Catalyst briefly explains all the modifications that have been made to this SUV.

Sam starts by saying that, the bonnet and the windshield at the front is from a Maruti Gypsy. All the other panels and components on this Gypsy have been replaced. The engine on this Maruti Gypsy is a 1.6 litre unit from old Baleno sedan. The headlights are borrowed from Hero Xpulse and the power steering used here is from a truck. The gear box is from Gypsy but, the gear ratios have been changed. The chassis has been modified and reinforced and there are aluminium panels used at several places to reduce weight. It now gets 4 link suspension at front and rear. The car now sits on 35 inch off-road tyres that have been modified. They have chopped off some lugs on the tyre so that it provides more grip in tricky surfaces.

One of the unique feature in this modified Gypsy is its rear wheel steering. The rear wheel steering reduces the turning radius and that saves lot of time while you are participating in an off-road competition. Sam Kurian demonstrates how it actually works in the video. The rear wheel is controlled using a lever inside the driver cabin. It is using a cabin from a Bajaj Autorickshaw to control this mechanism. The rear wheels turn in the opposite direction of the front wheels to reduce the turning radius. Apart from this, the Gypsy gets bucket seats, electric winch both at front and rear, auxiliary lamps, roll cage and so on.

Sam can be heard saying that, they have several other SUVs in their garage that are being modified for such competitions. He makes clear in the video that these SUVs are not something that you are allowed to drive on road. These SUVs are specially built for competitions and are transported from their garage to the competition venue in a flat bed.

How much fuel will Kia Seltos diesel consume while idling for 1.5 hours with AC on?

Petrol and diesel prices have been rising across the country and has crossed Rs 100 per litre mark on several Indian states. The diesel fuel is also following a similar path and is inching towards triple digit marks. In such a condition, finding out how fuel efficient a vehicle can actually be becomes even more relevant. There have been several videos on internet that show how fuel fuel efficient a car can be when driven with a light right foot. Here we have a video that tests how much fuel would a Kia Seltos diesel while idling with its AC on.

The video has been uploaded by Arun Panwar on his YouTube channel. The vlogger had done a similar type of test on his Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback an year ago. This time around, he did the same test on his Kia Seltos diesel SUV. For this test, he filled diesel to the brim on his Kia Seltos SUV.

Last time, he drove the car to his home after filling petrol and did the experiment and came back but, in this test he skipped that part and said he will be parking the Seltos next to the petrol to get a clear idea on how much fuel will the SUV consume while idling. The Kia Seltos diesel is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine that generates 115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The version that vlogger is using for this experiment is the manual version.

After filling the Seltos’s fuel tank, he parks it next to the petrol pump. This is a base variant Seltos and it comes with manual AC. He sets the knob to the lowest temperature and sets the fan speed to 2. Initially, when they started the test, vlogger said, he’ll be doing the test for almost 2 hours but, after some time he got bored and decided to finish the test after 1.5 hours. Vlogger along with his friend sat inside the car for some time and even roamed outside after getting bored. All this time, the car was idling and the AC was turned on.

After the vlogger had completed 1.5 hours, the MID on Kia Seltos was showing a fuel economy of under 6 kmpl. The vlogger then drives it to the filling station asks the attendant to fill the car to the brim. It should be noted that the fuel indicator had not even moved a bit during the test. The vlogger refuels and was very surprised with the result. Kia Seltos had consumed only 0.67 liter of diesel which is worth Rs 60 in current situation.

The vlogger was not expecting such a result. He mentions that when he did the same test on Baleno, it had consumed around 1.66 lts of fuel in 1.5 hrs and that had cost him approximately Rs 130 an year ago. He mentions that the petrol vehicles do not return good efficiency while idling. When this test was being conducted, the MID was displaying a external temperature of 34 degree celcius. The way AC works in different weather condition determine the fuel efficiency while the car is idling.

Hyundai Creta is without any doubt the best selling mid-size SUV in its segment. It was launched in the market last year and quickly became popular among buyers for the features it offered. The looks of the current generation Creta was something which not everyone likes. Some find it interesting and some do not. Hyundai is now working on an update or facelift for the current generation Creta and the same has been spotted testing internationally couple of times. A recent spy image of the upcoming Creta revealed how the front fascia of the Creta facelift might look like. Here we have a render video that shows how the Creta facelift could look like.

The video has been uploaded by SRK Designs on their YouTube channel. The artist takes inspiration from the recently leaked spy picture. The facelifted version of Hyundai Creta gets a front fascia inspired from its elder sibling Hyundai Tucson. The front grille gets a gloss black finish and split LED DRLs in it. In comparison to Hyundai Tucson, Creta facelift gets a bit more angular front grille.

As mentioned above, the dual function LED DRLs are integrated with the front grille. Current version of Creta gets tri-beam LED headlamps and the fog lamp and turn indicator were placed on the lower part of the bumper. In the upcoming version, the headlamps will remain LED but, the fog lamps will be placed right under it. The lower part of the bumper gets another The headlights have been redesigned too. The render is actually similar to the test mule that was spotted recently.

Other than this, no major changes are seen on this SUV. The render show upcoming Creta is a dual tone finish which looks good on the car. It must be noted that this is just a render and the production version might be slightly different from this. The front now looks a lot more muscular than before which is a good thing. We feel that many would find the facelifted version more appealing than the current version when it gets launched in the market.

The Hyundai Creta facelift is all about cosmetic changes. Hyundai will update the front of the car and might also make some changes to the rear. Other than this, it will continue to offer all the features that are available with the current version. Creta being a Hyundai product, we won’t be surprised if Hyundai decides to introduce more features into this already feature loaded SUV.

Currently Creta offers features like panoramic sunroof, 10.25 inch infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, air purifier, automatic climate control and so on. Hyundai Creta is available with three engine options. There is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that comes with manual and CVT gearbox option. Royal Enfield is a brand that has a large fan following in India and around the world. They are known for their retro looking modern motorcycles in the market. They have a variety of products in the segment but, Bullet and Classic 350 series motorcycles are the most popular ones. Royal Enfield even has two 650-cc motorcycle in their portfolio which is an excellent motorcycle at its price point. Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650 is currently one of the most affordable twin cylinder motorcycle in India. Here we have a video where an artist shows how he made a miniature version of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

The video has been uploaded by Craft Hunter on their YouTube channel. Name of the artist is Pradul K Sukumaran. He starts by working on the chassis of the bike. He uses thin PVC pipes to make the frame. Once the frame was ready, he started working on other parts. He made foot rests, brake and gear levers using plastic pipes.

This miniature version of Interceptor 650 is completely hand made and that is what makes this miniature special. Once the frame and other components of the bike were done, Pradul starts working on the fuel tank. For this, he stacks several Forex sheets and glues then together. Once that was done, he carves the sheet using the craft knife to give it the shape of an Interceptor 650 fuel tank.

After fuel tank, Pradul makes the seat, front and rear mudguards the same way. He used multi wood for the tyres and used plastic strips and small PVC pipes to make steel rims and spokes. Meanwhile, Pradul had already worked on the engine and had made a 650-cc engine from Forex sheet. Pradul had paid attention to detail and that is visible on every panel that he is making for this miniature.

He had also made a headlight, twin pod instrument cluster, front forks, handle bar, rear view mirror and a small windshield. He also made front and rear suspension using a plastic pipes. He even made front and disc plates using plastic sheets with exact pattern on them.

Once everything was ready, Pradul starts assembling the parts. A final check whether everything fits perfectly and then he moves out to paint the bike. The frame, seat, tank are all spray painted in black shade. This is a colour that is available in Interceptor 650. After painting, he removes tape from all the parts that have a chrome finish to them.

The front and rear mudguard, front forks and rear suspension, windshield, headlights, turn indicators are all painted in silver finish. The engine is given a silver or chrome finish with Royal Enfield branding on it. After painting, Pradul starts pasting Royal Enfield and Interceptor 650 stickers on fuel tank and side panels.

Overall, the work looks pretty neat and as mentioned above, the main focus here was attention to detail and Pradul made sure that it looked like an exact replica of an original Interceptor 650 from every angle. This is by far one of the neatest handmade miniature model of an RE Interceptor 650 that we have seen.

Hyundai plans to launch sub-4 meter electric SUV in India: Tata Nexon EV challenger

$

India’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai has several popular products in their portfolio. As we already know electric vehicles are gaining popularity around the world and things are not different when it comes to India as well. One of the world’s most popular EV brand Tesla has also announced their official entry in Indian market. Hyundai already has one product in the EV portfolio and that is Kona EV. According to reports, the Korean manufacturer is now planning to introduce a mass market EV in the market in the next three years. The only sub-4 meter electric SUV sold in India currently is the Tata Nexon EV.

Current electric vehicle that Hyundai offers in our market is priced quite expensively and that is reflecting in its sales as well. The main reason behind this expensive price tag is the import duty. Hyundai Kona EV is sold in India as CBU and that translates into higher price tag. Currently Tata’s Nexon EV is India’s best selling electric SUV. Hyundai has not shared any information regarding the upcoming electric vehicle but, most probably it is going to be a sub-4 meter SUV which will compete with the Tata Nexon EV in its segment.

It is quite possible that Hyundai might introduce an electric version of Venue SUV which is already a popular SUV in the sub-4 meter SUV segment. Hyundai has not shared official information regarding this new plan. The brand recently inaugurated their new corporate headquarter in Haryana’s Gurgaon. This is a greenfield project that is spread across 28,000 square meters.

The new headquarters of Hyundai has 14 EV charging units in their parking lot. This includes three DC fast chargers and 1 AC normal chargers. Hyundai Kona EV owners can visit the headquarters to recharge their vehicles at these stations. On the inauguration day, Hyundai showcased Nexo and Ionic 5 at the headquarters but, the company has no plans to launch it in Indian market anytime soon.

Electric vehicles are going to be the future of mobility but, there are several hurdles in front of it. In a country like India, charging infrastructure is one of the main problems. Range anxiety is currently one of the most common issues that most of the EV owners might face in the country. The reason for that is the lack of charging infrastructure. In comparison to a petrol and diesel car, running cost of a electric car is very low which is a good thing considering the fact that fuel prices are skyrocketing.

Government is promoting electric vehicles and have also asked several govt. departments to use EVs. State government’s are also offering subsidies to EV buyers but, import duties on these electric vehicles is too high. Recently Tesla had appealed Indian government to lower duties on imported EVs for encouraging the growth of EVs in the country. Hyundai also supports Tesla’s request in reducing the duties on imported EVs. Currently a car sold in India as a CBU demands around 60 to 100 percent customs duty depending upon various factors. This increases the price of the vehicles tremendously that in turn becomes a challenge for manufacturers.

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the all-new Celerio in the Indian market. Before the official launch of the upcoming car, leaked pictures have revealed exactly what the car will look like when launched in the Indian market. The pictures show that the all-new Celerio looks completely different from the outgoing generation of the Celerio, which is currently on sale.

The pictures by Rushlane reveal the final production version of the vehicle. For a long time, Maruti Suzuki has been testing the Celerio on the Indian roads. The pictures were leaked during an ad shoot of the car, which indicates that the launch is not very far away.

The design of the all-new Celerio looks nothing like the current version of the car. It leaves its squarish identity to add a lot of curves. The front actually looks familiar to the all-new Dzire. It gets an upright nose with an oval-shaped grille in a honeycomb pattern.

Bigger than before

The side pictures of the car indicate that the all-new Celerio will be bigger than the current-generation vehicle. While the difference may not be as much as the last-generation and current-generation WagonR, but the all-new Celerio is much bigger in size.

The wheelbase also looks longer and the roofline is tapered. The windows are quite big in size and will ensure that the cabin feels airy. The rear of the vehicle shows the wraparound tail lamps and a curvy design similar to the front. The all-new Celerio also looks much wider than the current version of the car. The all-new Celerio will get lift-type door handles and not the more premium pull-type ones.

Also, the car gets body-coloured ORVMs and 14-inch alloy wheels. Even the cabin is likely to get a plethora of updates including a new touch-sensitive infotainment system. The new Celerio also looks wider than before.

Petrol only

Like the current-generation Celerio, the all-new model will only get powered by petrol engine options. There will be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine but Maruti Suzuki will also offer the more powerful 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12 engine that is also available with the WagonR. The bigger engine option will also offer an AMT while the five-speed manual will be available with both engine types.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is expected to launch soon. In the past, the launch of the car got delayed due to multiple reasons including the lockdown related to the COVID-19 pandemic and even the shortage of semiconductors in the global market.

The all-new Celerio will take on the cars like Tata Tiago in the Indian market. The price is also likely to get a hike by a few thousand rupees over the current-generation model.

KTM RC390 leaked ahead of launch: Clear Images

KTM has been working on the new generation of RC motorcycles for quite some time now. There will be a new RC390, RC200 and an RC125. It is expected that the manufacturer will be launching the RC390 first in the market. The manufacturer made the website for the RC390 live but it was soon taken down. However, Instagram user @yadu_kanakkaparambil was able to take a couple of pictures of RC390. So, here are the first clear images of the upcoming 2022 RC 390.

We can see that the sharp design for which RC is known is now gone. The paint job has been finished in blue and black and it does look quite nice. The front fairing is all new and comes with a carbon fibre finish. The headlamp unit is also new and it should be an LED unit now.

There are also two slim lights that surround the fairing. These are expected to be the LED Daytime Running Lamp. They should also double up as turn indicators. The windscreen is also now taller which should provide better protection to the rider from the wind blast.

The seats were a thing that the riders complained about the RC range. It seems that the manufacturer has fixed it. IN the pictures, we can see a new two-piece seat design that looks better padded. They are also quite flat and the rider should have some space to move around. The rear seat is quite high, but that was expected from the RC. Overall, the design of the motorcycle is very similar to the one that we saw in the first spy shots.

There are also new slim alloy wheels. The new design might help KTM in saving some weight. The alloy wheels are wrapped in Continental ContiRoad sport touring tyres. These are the same tyres that KTM is using on the 890 Duke. It is not yet known if these tyres will make their way to India. So, it is possible that KTM uses the existing Metzeler M5s tires.

Other things that come into notice is a new rear subframe and handlebars. The rear subframe is now a bolt-on unit. So, in case of an accident, if the rear subframe gets damaged, the owner can buy a new subframe and get it bolted on. Then there are the clip-on handlebars that are placed slightly higher than the current ones. This should take weight from the wrists of the rider and make the seating position more comfortable.

In terms of engines, the mechanicals is expected to stay the same. What KTM would be working on is the cooling system and exhaust. It should now come with two radiator fans which should help in keeping the engine temperature and heat in check. Then there is the new exhaust system which is clearly visible in the images. There is also a new mesh design on the exhaust’s exit. It is not yet known whether the new exhaust will be offered in India or not.

Other additions that are expected to be made to the RC390 are a quick-shifter which the current Adventure 390 gets. There would also be a TFT screen that will be borrowed from the current Duke 390. It would come with Bluetooth and will show various information to the rider. The front suspension could also get adjustability options. All this equipment will increase the price of the upcoming RC390.

The colour of the new collection of six cars matches precious stones colours and that is why he calls it the “Jewels Collection”. The shade on the new Rolls Royce cars that he purchased includes the shades of Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire.
