5 Bad Habits That Damage Your Car Parts The Most

$

Ask any car owner in India about their driving skills and you will come across swift and modest replies that will make Michael Schumacher’s record look like a high school medal. However, being a good driver on a daily basis is not all fast overtakes and reaching your destination one minute before what Google Maps displays as your ETA. No, the zooming F1 cars on your TV are not the benchmark of a daily driver’s skills. Driving your car on a regular basis means maintaining minor but very important driving discipline that ensures better health overall for your car parts. Here are 5 habits that damage your car parts the most. Read on to know what you must avoid on your future rides, and if you already avoid these habits, soak in that sweet feeling of validation!

Slamming brakes more than needed

Mobis 2 1

Yes, the video reels make them look very cool, but shooting off from every traffic signal as if you are chasing a wanted fugitive is not at all cool for your car. Each time that you pin the pedal to the floor, the abundance of cars on Indian roads catches up with you, and you find yourself using the brake with the same vigour you used the accelerator with. This damages your brake pads no end. The same applies to the quick stops that make your tyres screech. These aggressive start-stop tactics heat up the brake pads and they become more prone to damage.

Since this happens over and over, the brake pads often don’t get enough time to cool down properly and hence get damaged even more. So, remember the age-old maxim: Go gentle and always use Hyundai Mobis original brake systems and brake pads for the maximum stopping power and safety. Know More About Hyundai Mobis Brake Pads.

Cold start for faulty engine

Mobis 2 2

This is yet another crowd favourite that has the larger public in all sorts of delusions. How often have you seen the lead character in your favourite movie ram in the car’s key, pin the accelerator to the floor, and then crank the gear lever to go zooming after the bad guys? Impressive? Actually, no. This is damaging his car. Accelerating the car on a cold engine means that the lubricant in your engine has trickled down from the pistons and other critical parts. As soon as you push the pedal, the pistons in your engine start working even before being properly lubricated. The higher the acceleration, the faster the engine-parts move, and the more damage they suffer. The oil in your engine needs to heat up to a certain level before it begins lubricating the engine efficiently.

All it takes is letting the engine idle for a minute or so. Doing that will ensure it functions smoothly, saving you maintenance and replacement costs. Beginning to drive immediately after turning on the ignition is especially cruel on the piston ring, which can get damaged due to the high level of friction. A piston ring is a really important part of the engine and a damaged ring can cause complete failure. Cheaper and genuine-looking options are available in the market but it is always the safest bet to buy it from Hyundai Mobis, the exclusive partner of Hyundai for genuine parts and accessories. Know More About Hyundai Mobis Piston Rings.

Not Slowing Down On Bad Roads

Mobis 2 3

There are many who drive their vehicles on the bad surfaces like they are in a rally stage. Indian roads are not the smoothest, and when a vehicle does not slow down on the bad roads or speed breakers, the suspension takes a hit. Modern cars are equipped with struts that can bottom-out and break if too much pressure is applied to them. Also, not slowing down prematurely ages the suspension system and it wears off quicker. One should always be gentle on bad roads and while approaching speed breakers to ensure minimal damage and as a corollary, maintenance charges. Slowing down will also make sure that the car does not rattle and shake early in its life. Always buy genuine suspensions and struts from Hyundai Mobis for the best comfort and longevity. Know More About Hyundai Mobis Shock Absorber.

Using the clutch as a dead pedal all the time

Mobis 2 4

What often happens is that in the absence of a dead pedal, one tends to rest their foot on one of the pedals while driving. And as it happens, India’s never-ending traffic makes that fateful pedal the clutch. What you do not realise while resting your foot is that even the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal means that your clutch remains engaged throughout your drive. This not only damages your clutch but also brings stress on several other parts of your engine and transmission.

The result? You end up with hefty bills during your regular service visits to the workshop. So the next time you head out on the roads, make sure that you treat the clutch pedal like your precious iPhone and handle it with great care. The clutch is an integral and critical part of the car, so it is prudent to buy an original product from Hyundai Mobis. This will ensure that the vehicle operates smoothly and offers the best pick-up, fuel efficiency and performance. Know More About Hyundai Mobis Clutch.

Too much hurry to start the engine

Mobis 2 5

Diesel-powered vehicles require more care, especially during winter months. Since this fuel’s higher calorific value makes it less flammable, a diesel engine is designed in a different way. Most modern-day diesel vehicles come with glow plugs, which pre-heat the diesel fuel and air, which ensures easy ignition in the cold weather.

Now when the key is turned in any vehicle, an array of warning lights come up on the display. One should always wait until the warning lights turn off before engaging the starter of the engine. In diesel engines, when the ignition is turned, the glow plug sign comes on the display and it starts to work by heating the fuel and air. It only takes a second or two. Starting the vehicle before the glow plug sign turns off can harm the engine and cause the glow plug to go kaput.

Since the glow plug is the heart that pumps life into the engine, it should always be original. Hyundai Mobis, the official partner of Hyundai India and worldwide, offers all the genuine parts including the glow plug. Have complete peace of mind and know that your vehicle has the right part by buying it from Hyundai Mobis. Know More About Hyundai Mobis Glow Plugs.

Next-gen Ford Ecosport: What it could look like

$
0
0

It would not be wrong if we said that Ford EcoSport was the car that started the trend of sub-4 meter compact SUVs in the country. Following it’s footsteps many other manufacturers launched similar models which over the years increased the competition in the segment. It currently competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. The EcoSport has remained more or less the same since its launch. Ford has been working on nex-generation EcoSport and the images of the upcoming SUV from Brazil has already been leaked on the internet.

Fordecosport2021 1

From the images it looks nothing like the one that we currently have here in India. The SUV shape of the car has been redesigned completely and looks more like a crossover with smoother edges. The Grille at the front has been completely redesigned. The signature hexagonal shape is replaced with a much sober looking wide grille with redesigned headlights at both ends.

Fordecosport2021 3

Bumper has been also redesigned bits of chrome and it houses what looks like an LED foglamp. From the side, EcoSport no more looks like an SUV. The roof is bit more lowered and is sloping towards the rear with integrated roof rails. The alloy wheels also get a new design. The rear gets a set of new LED tail lamps with a black band running between the lights with EcoSport written on it. Just like front, rear bumpers are also redesigned with silver skid plate at the bottom.

Fordecosport2021 2

When the EcoSport comes to India we can expect some changes. It is a known fact that Mahindra and Ford are currently in a partnership. There is a possibility that the EcoSport meant for Indian market will be based on Mahindra XUV300 which is based on Ssanyong Tivoli platform. This will make the next-gen EcoSport more spacious on the inside. Not only the platform, Ford might also borrow the engines from the XUV300 as they’ll meet the upcoming emission norms in couple of months. If so, then the upcoming EcoSport will be powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The next-gen EcoSport will make its way to Indian shores late in 2021 or early 2022.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR Electric SPIED testing: Interiors revealed

Every manufacturer in the country is currently moving towards electric vehicle and Maruti Suzuki is also doing the same. Maruti has been testing their electric vehicles on Indian roads for very long time now. About an year ago, Maruti started the testing the electric vehicles extensively and had a fleet 50 electric WagonR hatchbacks on our roads. Now, we have a video that shows how the upcoming electric vehicle will look like from the outside and inside. The WagonR electric was recently spotted on our roads and it looks nothing like the test mule that was deployed an year ago.

The video has been uploaded by 91wheels on their youtube channel. The video shows a heavily camouflaged hatchback stuck at a traffic signal. The design of the electric WagonR will be different from that of the petrol powered one. It looks like the indicators will be placed above and the headlamps will be closer to the bumper, like what we have seen in Kona electric SUV. The video then shows the alloy wheels that are similar to the one that we have seen in Maruti Ignis.

Wagonr 2

Video then reveals the interiors of the electric WagonR. The first thing that you would notice is the large infotainment screen which looks a bit more upmarket from the one in current gen petrol WagonR. Then on the gear lever there is ‘B’ and ‘D’ marked. The gearbox is automatic and the ‘B’ marking on the gear knob area indicates brake regeneration function. It is basically a technology that generates power via braking and charges the car battery. It could be low cost alternative for the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that is seen on premium electric cars.

Apart from the gear knob details like automatic climate control, multi function steering wheel, non-adjustable headrests, air-con vents and fabric seats can be seen in the video. The rear of the electric WagonR looks similar to the petrol version. It has the same vertical tail lights. The design of the car is more similar to the XL5 that was spotted before. It is the premium version of the WagonR which will be sold via Nexa dealerships. As of now there is no confirmation on the range of the vehicle or when Maruti will be launching it. We expect to see the WagonR electric in the upcoming Auto Expo next month.

Tata will bring in a slew of new products at the 2020 Auto Expo. Apart from the cars like the facelifted version of the Nexon and the Gravitas, Tata will bring in the H2X concept, which is also known as the Hornbill. Even though Tata Motors officially unveiled the Hornbill at the Geneva Motor Show, the version that the brand will unveil at the Auto Expo will be closer to the production version. Well, before the vehicle is officially unveiled at the Auto Expo, Tata started testing it on the roads under a camouflage. Here are all the details.

Hornbill 1

This is the first time ever that the Hornbill or the H2X has been spotted testing on the roads. It will be a sub-4, compact SUV that will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 in the Indian market. The Hornbill will be the entry-level SUV from the brand and will be positioned below the Tata Nexon in the model line-up.

Tata Hornbill Render 3

The new images on MotorBeam show that the upcoming Hornbill will have a very muscular look and will be heavily inspired by SUV design. The vehicle gets sharp design lines and the vehicle looks like it will offer a great road presence. Tata has always stayed close to concept versions in the recent past and we can safely say that this version showcased by Tata Motors accurately portrays the production model of the upcoming vehicle.

Hornbill 2

The Hornbill will be based on the ALFA platform. It is the same platform that underpins the upcoming Altroz in the Indian market. To keep the costs in check, Tata is expected to share a lot of parts between the Altroz and the production version of the Hornbill.

Tata is yet to reveal any details on the upcoming Hornbill. However, it is likely to get powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 86 PS and peak torque of 113 Nm. It is the same engine that will power the upcoming Altroz in the Indian market. Tata will offer a 5-speed manual transmission and may also offer an automatic transmission. The car will not get any diesel engine option though.

Hornbill 3

Tata will launch a slew of all-new cars in the coming time in the Indian market. Starting with the Altroz, Tata will also launch the all-new Gravitas in India. The brand will also enter the electric SUV segment with the launch of the all-new Nexon EV.

Volkswagen Id Crozz

With the manufacturers starting to launch their Electric Vehicles in the Indian market, Volkswagen will showcase the I.D. Crozz EV concept as a halo product. Maruti XL5 hatchback based on new WagonR SPIED testing [Video]

$

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki last year launched XL6 MPV which was basically the premium version of the Ertiga. The manufacturer is now working on another model which is based on Maruti’s famous WagonR hatchback. The WagonR got a facelift earlier last year and became quite popular in the country. Just like any other new-gen Maruti Suzuki vehicle, WagonR is also based on HEARTECT platform which makes it bigger and spacious than the earlier version. The upcoming WagonR based vehicle will probably be known as XL5 and was recently spotted testing on Indian roads under heavy camouflage.

The video has been uploaded by IAB on their youtube channel and shows a heavily camaflouged hatchback being tested on road. From the rear it is quite evident that the car is based on WagonR. Coming to the side the car is now riding on new alloy wheels which are similar to the one that we have seen on Ignis. That is the only noticeable change in the car on the side profile.

However coming to the front, you’ll start noticing more changes. The upcoming XL5 is likely to get a different design from the WagonR. From the video it looks like the car will have a bigger grille and split headlamp set up. It will get a LED DRL like many other modern day premium cars get in the country. The headlamp will be placed below the DRL like the one we have seen in Harrier and other cars.

Wagonr 2

Lower part of the bumper gets a silver skid plate and fog lamps are also positioned on both sides of the bumper. Changes will not only be seen on the outside but inside as well. The cabin is likely to receive an all black treatment with premium interiors like leather seats. The engine, however, will remain the same. We can expect a higher power-generating 1.2-litre engine that is available with the WagonR to power the premium version of the car too. However, we may also get to see the 1.0-litre engine option to keep the price competitive. As mentioned, this will be a premium version of WagonR and just like XL6, XL5 will also be sold via Nexa dealerships. It is expected that Maruti will launch the XL5 later this year.

In coming electric is going to be the future of mobility and many manufacturers in the country have already started investing in developing electric vehicles. Mahindra is one such manufacturer who started working on electric vehicles way before any other Indian manufacturer did. Mahindra had launched electric cars like Reva, E20, E-Verito in the past. Mahindra is now planning to launch new electric car based on KUV100. The electric version of the KUV100 will be known as e-KUV and Mahindra Electric is all set to roll out the electric KUV in the first quarter of the financial year 2020-21 (between April and June 2020). Mr. Goenka has confirmed that the electric KUV100 will be priced under Rs 9 lakh.

The e-KUV has been spotted testing on our roads a few times. The electric version of the car will look similar to the regular KUV100. Talking to the media Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said,

With BS6 emission norms kicking in, the prices of IC-powered vehicles will become expensive. Next couple of years, the thrust for EVs will be on shared mobility. 35 percent of miles driven in 2030 shall be on shared mobility and half of it should be on EVs

Price is going to be the major factor that Mahindra will have to keep in check when they launch electric KUV100. One of the latest entrant in the electric car segment are Hyundai Kona which is priced at Rs 25.3 lakh, ex-showroom. Other electric cars that will soon launch in the market are MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV. These cars are also expected to be priced at somewhere around 15-20 lakh bracket. Maruti is also working on a electric version of their WagonR hatchback and was recently caught testing.

Mr. Goenka also said.”We are delighted to cross the milestone of 1000 Mahindra EVs and 100 million e-kms with Lithium. Going forward, Mahindra’s expanding portfolio of EVs in both three-wheeler and four-wheeler across multiple price points will transform the way India travels”.

Mahindra E2O and E2O Plus have been discontinued and when launched e-KUV is likely to become Mahindra’s most affordable electric vehicle. There is no confirmation regarding the range of the vehicle but, is expected to get a range of 140 kms when fully charged. Mahindra will be showcasing the entire range of electric vehicles including the e-KUV at the upcoming Auto Expo next month.

On 4th April 2016, an underage driver of Mercedes-Benz sedan ran over a 32-year old in Delhi. The driver, who was four days away from turning into 18-years old, or the adult age was to be tried as an adult after the court rejected the plea. However, due to the framing of laws, the court has now said that the driver cannot be tried as an adult.

The decision by the top most court in India – the Supreme Court said that there is a “gross mistake” by the lawmakers of the Juvenile Justice Act. The law says that the minors cannot be treated as an adult in cases where no minimum sentence is mentioned. The driver filed a plea asking the court to try him as a minor but because the crime was classified as heinous, the court rejected the plea. Any person who is above 16 years old and less than 18 years old, can be tried as an adult if the crime gets classified as ‘heinous’. However, since the laws such as homicide do not have a minimum sentence, the person cannot be tried as an adult according to the law book.

The court headed by Justices Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose said that the minor would not be tried as an adult because of an “unfortunate gap” in the law. The Juvenile Justice Act, there are three categories. There are petty offences for which the maximum punishment is imprisonment for up to three years, serious offences involving jail term of 3-7 years and heinous offences for which the minimum punishment is 7 years. However, there are a set of different laws that have no minimum sentences and the maximum sentence is more than seven years like homicide not amounting to murder or abetment to suicide.

Image result for mercedes hit and run

In 2016, the underage driver was with four friends in the Mercedes-Benz sedan when the accident happened. The vehicle was at a very high speed and hit the 32-years old victim who was crossing the relatively empty road at night. The victim spotted the speeding Mercedes-Benz vehicle and got confused on what to do. He tried running forward but then realized that the car is coming at very high speed.

He then tried stepping back but the vehicle hit him and the person flung in the air for several meters. The occupants of the Mercedes-Benz parked the vehicle at a secluded area and then walked to the accident spot to check the victim. They later fled the scene without revealing their identities. A few witnesses then caught the group and confronted them. The court will now try the driver as a minor person until the laws are changed and amended by the parliamentarians.

A few years back the streets of India used to be a swarming ground of SUVs with loud hooters and police flashers. But the government of Indian had put a blanket ban on the hooters and flashers a sometime back. However, there are still many who secretly use it on public roads. An SSP from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh caught a Mahindra Scorpio that carried an MP (Member of Parliament) sticker on it. The SUV was issued an on-spot fine of Rs 2,000. Here’s what happened.

Scorpio 1

The police were in the Civil Lines area of Moradabad for a regular traffic checking. The checkpoint was organised by SSP Amit Pathak, who was present to catch the culprits. When the police officers stopped a white coloured Mahindra Scorpio SUV at the post, the youths in the vehicle tried intimidating the police officers by using the hooters.

The Mahindra Scorpio with the registration number UP 21 BH 0101 belongs to someone named Gambhir. The vehicle had stickers of Member of Parliament on the windscreen. The cops spotted the vehicle and asked it to stop and show the documents. However, the youths present in the vehicle started getting restless and were trying to escape from the spot. The youths also made the cops talk to some influential people but they did not budge.

The cops also inquired about the Member of Parliament but the youths did not answer to any of the questions and instead they started abusing the cops. The SSP present at the spot along with a group of journalists then issued a fine of Rs 2,000 to the vehicle owner.

It should be noted that any kind of sirens or hooters is banned in India. Even the politicians including the Prime Minister are not allowed to use any of such hooters or sirens on their vehicles. Currently, only emergency vehicles like the Fire Trucks, Ambulances and Police vehicles are allowed to use the hooters and flashers. This was done to ensure that no one misuses the flashers or the hooters on the public roads.

The cops present at the spot also removed the hooter from the Scorpio before letting it go. Also, displaying the position of power on the vehicles is banned in India. In Noida and Greater Noida, hundreds of vehicles with such stickers on their vehicles and other stickers like religion, surname were issued fined by the cops sometime back.

In India, the new MV Act was imposed last year. It was opposed by many states in India. In fact, states like Gujarat have overturned the new rules and relaxed the Act to ensure that the motorists do not face any problems and do not oppose the rule. In fact, the Gujarat government has even allowed triple riding on the motorcycle and has removed the rule of the mandatory helmet for the pillion rider.

1kia Seltos Petrol Diesel Review

This strikes an idea and Nick calls Tiger Shroff and asks him to do sky diving with Kia Seltos which originally is the TVC of Seltos.

Indian motorcycles manufacturer Royal Enfield who is famous for manufacturing retro  modern motorcycles had recently launched BS6 version of their Classic 350 model. Royal Enfield is now preparing to launch BS6 engine in their adventure motorcycle Himalayan. Company recently released a teaser video of the same on their social media page.

The video says coming soon and shows a collage of different kinds of adventure that Himalayan has been in to past. The collage makes an ‘X’ towards the end of the video and does not show any part of the the upcoming Himalayan. The ‘X’ shown in the video could mean that Royal Enfield might add an ‘X’ suffix to the Himalayan. Royal Enfield had done similar rebadging in the past to their Thunderbird series of bikes. Thunderbird X received some changes like bright colours and alloy wheels compared to the spoke wheels on the normal Thunderbird.

If Royal Enfield plans to launch Himalayan with ‘X’ suffix i would not be wrong to assume that Himalayan would also get alloy wheels. The BS6 version of the Classic series which recently got launched has also received similar updates. In terms of design, Himalayan will retain it’s rugged design with round headlight and clear windscreen. Some changes like re positioning of the hazard light switch is also expected. The switch will be moved on to the right handle bar.

BS6 motorcycles are supposed to have fuel injection system as standard. Royal Enfield Himalayan already gets this feature. Other updates that will be added to the BS6 version is the inclusion of a newer catalytic converter. Himalayan will still be powered by the same 411-cc, fuel injected, single cylinder engine. The BS4 version of the bike used to produce 24 PS and a 32 Nm of peak torque. There is a possibility that the BS6 engine might produce less power in comparison to the BS4 one.

As RE has released the teaser video, we expect to see the launch of Himalayan BS6 version in coming months. Himalayan is currently priced at Rs 1.81 lakh, ex-showroom. When BS6 version gets launched we can expect a substantial increase in the price of the motorcycle. The Himalayan BS6 will have no direct rival at launch, and will be the only ADV motorcycle in the Rs. 2 lakh price point. KTM’s ADV 390 is expected to command a price tag of about Rs. 3 lakh while the other option at the 3 lakh price point is the BMW G310 GS, which sits at Rs. 3.5 lakh.
